  1. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 29, 2005 -> 12:07 PM) Pods, please stop hitting liners/flyball to the CF'er. 1 out. Getting mad at the guy for crushing a ball??
  2. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 29, 2005 -> 02:31 AM) Actually Willie had a pretty solid OBP last year. It wasn't amazing but people expected Willie to come into the majors, hit .300 and carry this team as a guy playing in his first full major league season from the top of the lineup last year. It was freaking pathetic to see so many people down on the kid. The guy plays hard and is such an underrated defender. He should steal more bases, but that will come with time and I still say if he's given an opportunity here or somewhere else to start, he's gonna turn into one of the better top of the order guys in the biz. But people had to write him off after one year and somehow Crede gets like 4 years. I'l l never know, but I know one thing Willie had 100 times more pressure than Crede ever had considering he was forced right into the leadoff spot of a team expected to compete. The two things that bothered me most about willie last year were his ability to get down bunts and his base stealing ability. He's still scared and nervous out there on the bases but he's become a 10 time better bunter then he was last year. I've been very happy with willie this year, I agree if he gets a shot he's going to be a solid player.
  3. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 29, 2005 -> 02:28 AM) Damn right, he's one of my favorite players. it will be good to get the Gload of last year back. He was clutch for the Sox and is definately an Ozzie type of player. Can't wait till he's in the lineup cause if he plays like he did last year, Everett should be relegated to pinch hitter duties. As much as I don't want to see Ross in the outfield if Dye and Everett continue to struggle it might be worth a shot to throw him out there. I mean he hasn't played out there much so maybe if he gets some PT out there he'll become more effective out there. All I know is if Carl and Jermaine don't start to hit we're going to need ross's bat in the lineup.
  4. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 29, 2005 -> 11:04 AM) Maybe the Sox should do the same thing to him as the Twins did to Santana. Send him back to the minors and tell him to throw the changeup constantly and hone it. Imagine that? In ST he was using that pitch very effectively but for some reason he seemed reluctant to use it in his two starts. His change actually has some pretty good movement and he gives a good motion with it, he definitely should use it more.
  5. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 29, 2005 -> 10:19 AM) Coulda fooled me. Joe Randa's Avg. By month for career: April - .259 May - .281 June - .292 July - .285 Aug - .282 Sept - .316 It looks to me like he starts off very slow, gets real hot going inot June then stays solid for July and August and then finishes ridiculously hot in September. Joe's a good hitter, I'd love to have him. Always comes up with the big hit.
  6. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ May 29, 2005 -> 01:06 AM) I'm sorry Dan but I'm not sure what you mean. Punch has the 1st pick of the draft, then again its 2 AM in the morning and maybe I'm just missing something here. Ha, I thought the same thing, good, it's not just me.
  7. Since everyone is giving their opinion on who they'd like the sox to draft I really want Carillo now. He seems like he has a supurb head on his shoulders and I love the fact that through his collegiate career he's had excellent control. I'm really hoping this is the guy the sox brass decides to draft, jmo. I know most scouts don't think he has a super high ceiling but most guys who don't have dynamite stuff probably won't have real high ceilings according to scouts. However if you have the mental makeup and control then you have just as good a chance to be a stud as a stuff pitcher.
  8. I really, really, really, really, really wish I could go to the game on Monday unfortunately I got some dumb family dinner so I have to settle for Tuesday, can't wait to see Frank back in the lineup.
  9. I'll do it, you can pick me a team.
  10. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 28, 2005 -> 11:38 AM) Were at 31-16, not 16-31. Just thought I would clear that up. I think some people are forgetting that, though we're 33 and 16 just to clear that up . A shake would be the worst possible thing, that doesn't send a very good message that's for sure.
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 28, 2005 -> 11:46 AM) Aardsma is definately the gem, but the Cubs need help now and I highly doubt they'll be keeping these guys. I've never seen Aardsma pitch and I'm shocked to see how poorly Williams has been doing, when I saw him pitch in the big leagues I though he was going to be a real good one, I wonder if something is wrong with him physically?? Either way, I think this is a good deal for both teams like I said. Latroy will be a stud for San Fran, no doubt in my mind.

QUOTE(bulokis @ May 28, 2005 -> 10:54 AM) Aubrey Huff might cost too much. I dont know but I like Nick Johnson. I'm a fan of Nick Johnson also but Kenny isn't going to trade for a guy who can only play first base this year, in the offseason definitely a possibility but not this year.
  13. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ May 28, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) Mr. Harris is known for many things...drawing walks is not one of them. Actually willie draws a pretty good amount of walks, he might not be known for doing it but he does do it fairly well.
  14. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ May 28, 2005 -> 10:51 AM) :puke :puke
  15. QUOTE(bulokis @ May 28, 2005 -> 10:52 AM) WTF? Who is the GM of SF, is he drunk or what. Good trade for the cubs. Jerome Williams is one of my fave young pitcher. Brian Sabean.
  16. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 28, 2005 -> 09:58 AM) I know he's been bandied about in some rumors round here for a deadline upgrade for the big club (The Phillies were scouting him heavily about a week ago), but Jason out of all the top 5-10 prospects we have, would you deal Tracey, or would you try to trade someone else instead like a Ray Liotta or Tyler Lumsden instead if we were to make a trade (e.g the Freddy Garcia one from last season)? I'm not jason obviously but I'll throw my opinion out there anyways . I'd rather trade Tracey I'm just not as high on him as Jas is. Like I said before he's definitely the one quality prospect I wouldn't mind centering a package around to get a Wagner or a big bat. Tracey could definitely bring us some quality though imo.
  17. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 28, 2005 -> 10:46 AM) While it's a good trade for the Cubs...^ is stupid Agreed, wow I agreed with you Latroy needs a change of scenery, he'll be outstanding for the Giants, book it.
  18. Wow, I'm shocked the giants gave up on Williams, he's got a chance to be a good one. Besides that though I think this has the potential to be a good trade for both teams. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Latroy with a change of scenery absolutely dominates again in a set up role.
  19. I've started to really like Carillo. Maybe he doesn't have dynamite stuff but I love the fact that he has a great mental makeup to me because he does have solid stuff(just not outstanding) with the smarts to pitch in the majors he could be a pitcher that shoots up through the minors and can be a very solid pitcher, jmo though.
  20. Right move no doubt. I'm also looking very forward to getting Ross back, Ross can hit no doubt about that.
  21. One hell of a catch by mench there. Game over.
  22. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:30 PM) :banghead I'm sorry I dare point out a flaw of a first place team, after all everything is perfect when you have a good record. Nope, not perfect but when you have the best record in the league obviously we don't have as many flaws as some people believe. You yourself have said that you're the first person to overreact and you know your about as pessimistic as they come, they're going to be fine willie, absolutely fine. You know it, you just won't let yourself believe it yet.
  23. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:29 PM) No, God damnit. He overreacted after 3 bad pitching performances about a pitching staff that had been great all year. Our offense hasn't been special all season and I am saying this after a week of poor hitting. So give up then.
  24. QUOTE(JimH @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:28 PM) I like your style. Post more often. Agreed, we need you around here whitesoxjr27, you'd be a welcomed change.
  25. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:26 PM) WTF does pitching have to do with what I said? Nothing, my point was that he said the exact same thing about the team being out of first place within a certain time period. We all know the twins aren't going away but either our the sox, so get over it.
