  1. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 06:52 PM) If by "s***-head", you mean Willie Harris, it would be absolutely pointless to platoon the two. Absolutely pointless. They're basically the same player, except Cora can play SS. Both can hit right handers equally well, Harris has more speed, but for the most part, both play above average defense. The only differences are: a.) Harris is faster and will steal more bases. b.)Cora strikes out less. c.)Harris will make at least 500,000 less. No point in signing a player that we already have, IMHO... Cora handles the bat better, he can bat 2nd, and it would allow us to move aaron down in the order, statistically they are very close but alex does the little things better. Also something that just came to my mind(yes I know, I'm very slow) but do you guys thing Depodesta would target a catcher for 2-3 million dollars with as low an obp as aj??
  2. QUOTE(quickman @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 06:34 PM) I know what your saying but you will get one and Kelly Dransfedt. Dodgers, Tampa, Whitesox, and who did the cardinals pick up? The cards are probably going to go with Yadier Molina at catcher. The dodgers just spent some serious money to get Odalis back, with the acquisitions of navarro also they might not got after aj atleast I hope not. It really could come down to the sox and TB, however TB resigned Toby Hall, honestly it seems as if the sox have a great shot at acquiring aj but I'm not getting my hopes up, I still got a bad feeling that another team is going to jump in there and scoop him up, hopefully I'm wrong.
  3. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 05:57 PM) You don't offer a player of Pierzynksi's caliber under three million dollars unless your financially burdened. 700,000 as little as it seems is a big difference. It's called negotiations, buddy. How do you know the sox aren't the highest bidder right now, maybe they'll go up in price if they have to, this was just a starting bid most likely and as of now it might be the most of amount of money that has been offered to him.

QUOTE(Man Of Steel @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 02:47 PM) I finally got around to gettin some pictures of the two puppies we kept, so now I can post them.. The brown one is mine, his name is Boss.. and the White one is my sisters, her name is Chloe.. Awesome dogs MoS but the bean bag chair and the blankets they are laying on in the first 3 pictures rule
  5. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 03:10 PM) Also on the topic of Timo...he is terrible. I would imagine that we'd be pretty damn lucky to trade him and get anything that could be worthwhile. He doesn't hit well, he isn't fast, he doesn't field well, his arm is good but he is sometimes slow to release the ball(and Jamie Burke knows that all too well)...and that clutch argument is garbage. I don't care if a guy can hit late in the game...if he can hit late in the game, why in the hell can't he hit early in the game? I completely disagree about Timo but we'll just have to agree to disagree this topic has been overdone. Anyways going onto A.J. not to worried about this yet, sure maybe he wants 3 mill but maybe the sox have the best offer on the table right now and he's just hoping to get that money. Anways I do agree with you guys that aj is definitely worth 3 mill, we'll see what happens though.
  6. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 02:58 PM) It was purely rumor at the time of Ben Davis' resigning. Pierzynski was still a Giant and had yet to be non-tendered. Not true, we resigned Ben the day after the arbitration deadline, meaning Aj was already non tendered.

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 12:51 AM) Oh man, all these are great, good job guys.
  8. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 11:32 PM) what is this clutch you speak of? should Timo Perez be more valuable to this team than Paul Konerko because he had a better batting average with runners in scoring position? Give me a break. Timo Perez is a reserve outfielder and a pinch hitter. When your OPS is in the low .400's as a pinch hitter you are not doing your job and therefore don't deserve a raise nor one million dollars when a guy like Dustan Mohr can be had for half the cost thus allowing for more flexibility to sign Pierzynski. Stats aren't everything. Timo was very valuable to this team last year, he's a very good bench player regardless of what his stats are, when the game is on the line Timo is one of the guys you want up at the plate. Not only that he was the only guy that could lay down a stinking bunt last year to move runners over. R and W if a difference of 500,000 dollars prohibits of from acquiring A.J. we have issues. It's not what you hit, it's when you hit it
  9. Uh Oh, I see GHC and qwerty on this thread For the record I agree with dorf and ace.
  10. QUOTE(Goldmember @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 06:48 PM) mariotti is a douche bag... That's about the best description of Mariotti there is.
  11. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 09:02 PM) No one that has half a brain. Ya that's way to much for Javy. I like Vaz and I'd be willing to give up Garland and a middle level spect(which wouldn't get a deal done) but Garland and Bmac plus another spect is ridiculous.
  12. Awesome pictures aboz. Man, would I love to get down to tucson one of these days for ST.
  13. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 07:35 PM) I like him but he has some problems. He does not fully understand the rules in the nba yet and he likes to bring the ball up the courst way too much for my liking. I scream at the damn t.v. every time he is bringing the ball up the court telling him to pass to a guard. It never works though. I hate him, he annoys the hell out of me. EDIT: I shouldn't say I hate him because I still root for him but he's one of my least favorite players on the bulls.
  14. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 07:09 PM) Harris will mostly pinch run or pinch hit for squeeze bunts. Gotta teach him how to bunt first
  15. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 05:38 PM) I agree with Rowand44's lineup. You don't know if that was just a career year for Rowand and even for a career year, Frank had comparable numbers if not better up until he got injured. I don't see why people are so quick to put Rowand as a #3 hitter. He did good, but he could very well be the next Chris Singleton or Mike Caruso too. Nine, actually I think Aaron is a perfect number 3 hitter and will eventually be there, however right now we don't have the correct personel(sp?) to have aaron as the number 3 guy in the order, right now he's our best option in the 2 slot, jmo.

    Congrats mreye.
  17. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 06:33 PM) Row, I thought about that and the numbers look awfully tough for 3 catchers, but it's a possibility. Assuming 11 pitchers, you've got 14 spots. 3B, SS, 2B, 1B, LF, CF, RF - that's 7 starters. Gload, Everett, Timo Perez, and a backup middle infielder. That's 11. Plus two catchers makes 13. One spot left ... Frank Thomas? If Thomas starts on the DL I can definitely see 3 catchers. If Thomas is healthy I can't see it. I've been thinking about that too, Jim. The thing that came to mind was that Jamie can also play 3rd base and ozzie loves his versatility and just likes Jamie in general. I think either way you got 3 catchers if Pierz is signed but that's jmo.
  18. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 06:20 PM) I know some people will not believe me but i think if burke hits .250 next year with more than 150 at-bats we should be pretty happy with him. So far, he has been hitting way over his head. Jamie has a good approach to hitting, he obviously doesn't have a ton of talent but he's a smart player, imo he could hit .250 over a full year. Also I believe if A.J. were to be signed ozzie would keep 3 catchers.
  19. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) Me like the fast reply option a lot! About time. The D'Backs come away smoking. I don't see why you can't see it. In exchange for RJ they get 17M, S Green, Javier Vazquez, & Halsley. Who wouldn't make that trade? Apparently if Vazquez can't play for the NYY's then he wants to return to the NL. So that makes the Phillies the prime target if doesn't want to play for AZD. Halsey might be a part of the green trade too.
  20. Ya, I've heard that too False, I think he'll be able to shed it before st atleast I hope.
  21. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 07:27 AM) Cubs next outfield target possibly; Yeesh, I didn't think that team could strike out anymore but if they get Burnitz......wow. EDIT: They do have some players that don't strike out that much but if they got Burnitz, basically half their lineup would strike out a ton.
  22. Rowand44 replied to Reddy's topic in Pale Hose Talk
How about this lineup: Spod Iguci Rowand Frank Pauly Dye Aj Uribe Crede Ok, now back to reality As of right now I'd like to see aaron in the 2 hole and Juan in the 6th spot. I still think the sox have another move or two in 'em, hopefully aj but I think it's going to be Cora but we'll see.......
  23. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 2, 2005 -> 08:38 PM) i dont get why people dont think pedro isnt amazing anymore last year was a down year for him and for many pitchers it would of been one of their best years... add in the fact he is going from a hitters park in the AL to a pitchers park in the NL i see an era in the high 2's to low 3's His era was somewhere near 3.9 last year(to lazy to look it up) and at times he was very inconsistant. Don't get me wrong he's still a great pitcher but he's not an elite pitcher anymore, especially with his arm hanging on by a thread.
  24. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 2, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) victor zambrano is much better than russ ortiz he doesnt have best control but he is awesome... also glavine is still good and pedro is still amazing.... Benson is a very solid 4th and traschel a fine 5th....their rotation is old but dont really have any major hole in it... Pedro isn't amazing anymore. He's still very good but not even close to what he was.
  25. QUOTE(Man Of Steel @ Jan 2, 2005 -> 08:02 PM) Whats witht the avatars and stuff being on the right on those other ones? Thats screwing with my head :banghead I was just going to say the same thing.
