  1. YES, YES, YES ,YES, YES, YES, YES. THANK YOU KENNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! f*** YEAH
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 01:06 PM) Anyone that doesn't think that the million dollars given to Timo wouldnt be helpful for the Sox right now is naive. We all know that the Sox are concerned with every little penny they spend. If we miss out on a starting catcher or a starting 2b because we spent too much on a reserve outfielder that we didn't even need, then I will lose even more respect for KW and JR. No. The sox have the money to give him and they're still a considerable amount under the budget. At this point Kenny might be making sure he's not bidding against himself, once again this is negotiating the agent wants one thing the gm wants another, honestly I don't think the sox have another mlb team to worry about in this, I think Iguchi goes to the sox or stays in Japan.
  3. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 07:51 PM) Again, who plays second base against left-handers? Cora has had one good season. 2002 was OK, but I'm not going to take much from 258 AB's. He really doesn't make this team any better... Then again, I prefer WSF's scenario of Adkins/Harris for Polanco. Hell, I made that trade in OOTP, maybe they'll do it in real life too... You're right, we still wouldn't have anyone to bat against lefties, all I was saying Cora is intangably(is that a word??) better, is he worth 2 million more then willie.....nah, just stating I think cora would be a nice edition at the right price, jmo. As far as polanco goes I agree with you guys I'd love to have him aboard and especially at the price you guys mentioned.
  4. QUOTE(Boxer83080 @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 07:04 PM) CF Podsednik vs. CF Torii Hunter 2B Iguchi vs. 2B Nick Punto LF Rowand vs. LF Shannon Stewart DH Thomas vs. DH Lew Ford 1B Konerko vs. 1B Justin Morneau RF Dye vs. RF Jacque Jones C Pierzinski vs. C Joe Mauer 3B Crede vs. 3B Mike Cuddyer SS Uribe vs. SS Juan Castro SP Mark Beuhrle vs. Johan Santana SP Freddy Garcia vs. Brad Radke SP Orlando Hernandez vs. Carlos Silva SP Jose Contreras vs. Kyle Lohse SP Jon Garland vs. Terry Mulholland Takatsu Nathan?? When did the sox sign Iguchi and aj? Lets just pretend we did sign both of them for now, if so that team could honestly compete with anyone and I definitely think they're better then the twins on paper but the twins are the twins and we've been better on paper then them for years now. I think that team would take the division but I refuse to ever count the Twins out of anything.
  5. QUOTE(Chisoxmatt @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) Yeah im really hoping for a snow day. 6-12 inches in the cook-kane-Dupage areas between now and tommarow morning. Pssh.....what about Lake County?
  6. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 03:28 PM) Where did you read they are trying to move Polanco? I read he accepted arbitration. He did, they have Utley ready to play and Placido is going to make some decent money so they'd like to rid themselves of him.
  7. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 11:36 AM) Before a couple years ago, he hardly ever had a .340 obp in Japanese ball, yet now you're sure that he'll be that good in the ML -- even though his strikeout and walk numbers returned to Earth last year. I'm not saying it can't happen, but I find it hard to believe that's the worst-case scenario. Yes I do think that's the worst-case scenario. He's had an outrageous obp the last 2 years, he's done this for two years in a row now, I'm thinking he's developed into this type of guy and Iguchi's numbers the last two years were better then the best years Kaz put up, Kaz wasn't great but his obp was right around .335 iirc, I really do believe at worst Iguchi would put up a .340 obp, jmo.
  8. I disagree willie and aaron are both brutal at getting a sacrifice bunt down, I'd say Juan is a better bunter then both he's nothing special either.
  9. 2k5, Willie doesn't know how to bunt, he's awful at it and I think that's one of the reasons he's in ozzie's doghouse. EDIT: But I do agree with you on aaron, however if Iguchi isn't signed he's our best option for that slot.
  10. Jeckle, because aaron is better suited to hit down in the order. I think at worst Iguchi would post a .340 obp and do more in that spot then aaron could do as far as moving runners along. Then we move aaron down to give him more rbi opportunities.
  11. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 02:51 AM) How are we low balling him? Do you think you just give a player what he wants right away? You have to negotiate with them first. Everyone is freaking out that we offered him less so far and i am willing to bet we will offer him something better before it is all over. Bingo, it's negotiating, you don't start off with your best offer.
  12. I turned on the score to see if they'd say anything about this and I hear Mike North talking about how sosa is a better player then Beltran :headshake
  13. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 06:21 AM) The only place I see it mentioned anywhere is the NY Post. I don't think this is anything to get excited about at this point. I'm trying not to.........but it's not working, lol.
  14. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 06:15 AM) After glancing through the websites of Chicago area papers, I find no mention of an imminent Iguchi signing. I did the same thing and found nothing, it's early and I'd think if true we'd here about it sometime in the local media within the hour, atleast I hope.......
  15. I'm trying to keep myself unexcited right now but if this is true, wow, we're going to have one nice of a 1-2 at the top of the order and this would definitely allow us to move aaron down. I'm going to keep espn radio on see if anything comes up though I doubt it because Bruce is probably still sleeping, if anyone is listening to the score tell us if you hear anything.
  16. *Tells self not to get excited* Oh f*** it, please, please be true, cmon, wow I I woke up early for some reason and couldn't fall back asleep and I wake up to this, c'mon please be true
  17. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 09:31 PM) Man she is REALLY bad. Note to Ashley: You have riden on your sister's coat tails long enought! GO AWAY! LOL, sounds like she just got boo'ed
  18. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 07:09 PM) Like fathom just said, jolbert cabrera could fill that hole for us and he would do so awfully cheap. Definitely something to look into, I like Jolbert but I'm just saying I wouldn't be surprised if Willie did get traded if one of the guys Jim mentioned are brought in.
  19. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 07:04 PM) Would anyone care to speculate the White Sox might sign two of Iguchi, Cora, Cairo, in addition to Pierzynski? And do something else with Harris? Does Harris have minor league options left? We have heard next to zero speculation about Alex Cora, from any other teams besides the Sox. Jim, the thing I was thinking about was signing one of those guys that you mentioned and trading willie for a utility guy who can play 3rd and short as well as 2b, I know that wouldn't be the most popular decision around here but I wouldn't doubt if that were to happen.
  20. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 06:52 PM) If by "s***-head", you mean Willie Harris, it would be absolutely pointless to platoon the two. Absolutely pointless. They're basically the same player, except Cora can play SS. Both can hit right handers equally well, Harris has more speed, but for the most part, both play above average defense. The only differences are: a.) Harris is faster and will steal more bases. b.)Cora strikes out less. c.)Harris will make at least 500,000 less. No point in signing a player that we already have, IMHO... Cora handles the bat better, he can bat 2nd, and it would allow us to move aaron down in the order, statistically they are very close but alex does the little things better. Also something that just came to my mind(yes I know, I'm very slow) but do you guys thing Depodesta would target a catcher for 2-3 million dollars with as low an obp as aj??
  21. QUOTE(quickman @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 06:34 PM) I know what your saying but you will get one and Kelly Dransfedt. Dodgers, Tampa, Whitesox, and who did the cardinals pick up? The cards are probably going to go with Yadier Molina at catcher. The dodgers just spent some serious money to get Odalis back, with the acquisitions of navarro also they might not got after aj atleast I hope not. It really could come down to the sox and TB, however TB resigned Toby Hall, honestly it seems as if the sox have a great shot at acquiring aj but I'm not getting my hopes up, I still got a bad feeling that another team is going to jump in there and scoop him up, hopefully I'm wrong.
  22. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 05:57 PM) You don't offer a player of Pierzynksi's caliber under three million dollars unless your financially burdened. 700,000 as little as it seems is a big difference. It's called negotiations, buddy. How do you know the sox aren't the highest bidder right now, maybe they'll go up in price if they have to, this was just a starting bid most likely and as of now it might be the most of amount of money that has been offered to him.

    My Boxer Pictures

QUOTE(Man Of Steel @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 02:47 PM) I finally got around to gettin some pictures of the two puppies we kept, so now I can post them.. The brown one is mine, his name is Boss.. and the White one is my sisters, her name is Chloe.. Awesome dogs MoS but the bean bag chair and the blankets they are laying on in the first 3 pictures rule
  24. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 03:10 PM) Also on the topic of Timo...he is terrible. I would imagine that we'd be pretty damn lucky to trade him and get anything that could be worthwhile. He doesn't hit well, he isn't fast, he doesn't field well, his arm is good but he is sometimes slow to release the ball(and Jamie Burke knows that all too well)...and that clutch argument is garbage. I don't care if a guy can hit late in the game...if he can hit late in the game, why in the hell can't he hit early in the game? I completely disagree about Timo but we'll just have to agree to disagree this topic has been overdone. Anyways going onto A.J. not to worried about this yet, sure maybe he wants 3 mill but maybe the sox have the best offer on the table right now and he's just hoping to get that money. Anways I do agree with you guys that aj is definitely worth 3 mill, we'll see what happens though.
  25. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 02:58 PM) It was purely rumor at the time of Ben Davis' resigning. Pierzynski was still a Giant and had yet to be non-tendered. Not true, we resigned Ben the day after the arbitration deadline, meaning Aj was already non tendered.
