Year in preview: 2005 White Sox
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 05:38 PM) I agree with Rowand44's lineup. You don't know if that was just a career year for Rowand and even for a career year, Frank had comparable numbers if not better up until he got injured. I don't see why people are so quick to put Rowand as a #3 hitter. He did good, but he could very well be the next Chris Singleton or Mike Caruso too. Nine, actually I think Aaron is a perfect number 3 hitter and will eventually be there, however right now we don't have the correct personel(sp?) to have aaron as the number 3 guy in the order, right now he's our best option in the 2 slot, jmo.

Good News
QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 06:33 PM) Row, I thought about that and the numbers look awfully tough for 3 catchers, but it's a possibility. Assuming 11 pitchers, you've got 14 spots. 3B, SS, 2B, 1B, LF, CF, RF - that's 7 starters. Gload, Everett, Timo Perez, and a backup middle infielder. That's 11. Plus two catchers makes 13. One spot left ... Frank Thomas? If Thomas starts on the DL I can definitely see 3 catchers. If Thomas is healthy I can't see it. I've been thinking about that too, Jim. The thing that came to mind was that Jamie can also play 3rd base and ozzie loves his versatility and just likes Jamie in general. I think either way you got 3 catchers if Pierz is signed but that's jmo.

Good News
QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 06:20 PM) I know some people will not believe me but i think if burke hits .250 next year with more than 150 at-bats we should be pretty happy with him. So far, he has been hitting way over his head. Jamie has a good approach to hitting, he obviously doesn't have a ton of talent but he's a smart player, imo he could hit .250 over a full year. Also I believe if A.J. were to be signed ozzie would keep 3 catchers.

Rumors thread
QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) Me like the fast reply option a lot! About time. The D'Backs come away smoking. I don't see why you can't see it. In exchange for RJ they get 17M, S Green, Javier Vazquez, & Halsley. Who wouldn't make that trade? Apparently if Vazquez can't play for the NYY's then he wants to return to the NL. So that makes the Phillies the prime target if doesn't want to play for AZD. Halsey might be a part of the green trade too.

Rumors thread
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 07:27 AM) Cubs next outfield target possibly; Yeesh, I didn't think that team could strike out anymore but if they get Burnitz......wow. EDIT: They do have some players that don't strike out that much but if they got Burnitz, basically half their lineup would strike out a ton.

lineup...
How about this lineup: Spod Iguci Rowand Frank Pauly Dye Aj Uribe Crede Ok, now back to reality As of right now I'd like to see aaron in the 2 hole and Juan in the 6th spot. I still think the sox have another move or two in 'em, hopefully aj but I think it's going to be Cora but we'll see.......

Rankings of Top Rotations in Baseball
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 2, 2005 -> 08:38 PM) i dont get why people dont think pedro isnt amazing anymore last year was a down year for him and for many pitchers it would of been one of their best years... add in the fact he is going from a hitters park in the AL to a pitchers park in the NL i see an era in the high 2's to low 3's His era was somewhere near 3.9 last year(to lazy to look it up) and at times he was very inconsistant. Don't get me wrong he's still a great pitcher but he's not an elite pitcher anymore, especially with his arm hanging on by a thread.

Rankings of Top Rotations in Baseball
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 2, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) victor zambrano is much better than russ ortiz he doesnt have best control but he is awesome... also glavine is still good and pedro is still amazing.... Benson is a very solid 4th and traschel a fine 5th....their rotation is old but dont really have any major hole in it... Pedro isn't amazing anymore. He's still very good but not even close to what he was.

UPGRADE ISSUES
Heads, just to let you know if you select the dark gray skin it gets rid of the banner. I'm not sure if that's fixable or not, just letting you know.

Rankings of Top Rotations in Baseball
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jan 2, 2005 -> 05:19 PM) Our rotation isn't better than Atlanta, sorry fellas. I'm not sure aboz. I've been thinking about this for a while now and it's really hard for me to put these top rotations in a specific order. The reason I say this is because even these elite rotations have a bunch of question marks. The top rotations in my mind are the Yanks, Boston, Sox, Cubs, Braves in no specific order. It's really a tough question and difficult to put these order, all those rotations while very solid have some major health issues.

And now.. your 2004-05 Minnesota Vikings!
QUOTE(danman31 @ Jan 2, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) They do suck but if that offense totally clicks for one game they could probably beat anyone in the league. That's what worries me. Ah, ok, fair enough but I still don't think you have anything to worry about but I see what you're saying.

And now.. your 2004-05 Minnesota Vikings!
QUOTE(danman31 @ Jan 2, 2005 -> 04:06 PM) I'm a little worried about the Rams. They are the kind of dangerous team I don't want to see in the playoffs as a Falcons fan. They suck, you have nothing to worry about.

Rams win

And now.. your 2004-05 Minnesota Vikings!
QUOTE(Brian @ Jan 2, 2005 -> 03:48 PM) This is all confusing. But I think if the Rams win, than it is Saints and Rams in playoffs and Minn out. Who knows! Thought I read both Rams and Saints had to lose for Minn to get in if they lost. Get it? Nope, if the rams win, the vikings and rams get in(worst scenario, I hate both teams). If the rams lose, the Vikings and Saints get in.

And now.. your 2004-05 Minnesota Vikings!
QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Jan 2, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) why what did he do When the Jets were driving on the last drive, Pennington threw a ball right into Archuleta's arms, Adam dropped it and the Jets kicked the game tying fg.

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jan 2, 2005 -> 03:26 PM) if the jets win, archuleta is going to die in st. louis Ha, very true. I hope the Jets win, I can't stand the rams.

QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Jan 2, 2005 -> 03:24 PM) It was blocked Great now we have to see the Vikings in the playoffs What a comeback by these Panthers though to come back from 1-6 and almost make the playoffs. Not to be nitpicky but it was 1 and 7
