  1. QUOTE(TLAK @ Jan 8, 2005 -> 11:04 AM) Willies not old enough to play in San Fran Good point.
  2. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Jan 8, 2005 -> 10:58 AM) I wouldn't mind seeing Ray come back, how much $$$ does he make? Wow, didn't realize this but he made 7.2 million last year. Anyways what would the sox have to give up to acquire Ray, I like the makeup of the team and unless the sox were giving up something like Willie and Adkins I wouldn't want to give up anything on the major league roster.
  3. QUOTE(Winnin Ugly @ Jan 8, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) It is being reported here in San Fran on KNBR that the Whitesox are very intersted acquiring Ray Durham from the Giants. Not to sure who the Giants are asking for in return... Interesting, he's had some injury problems the last couple of years but when healthy he still gets on base and can still run a bit, very interesting..............
  4. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 09:53 PM) Relax guys....it is just Cairo If we do not get Iguchi, I bet KW will get someone MUCH better than Cairo at the trade deadline Chill fellas....geez, the way some of you hyperbole someone like Cairo, it seems like he is Barry Bonds It is ok if we have one hole going into the season. Our division is not that strong to worry about to begin with It's not a hole, it might be the biggest weakness we have on the team right now but it's definitely not a hole.
  5. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 09:49 PM) If Cairo is only getting 900K from the Mets, Cora should barely make 500K from another team. If they're letting the Mets grab Cairo for less than a million, it tells me they might be in higher pursuit of Iguchi than we think... I hope your right but there is that chance that they never had any interest in Cairo.
  6. QUOTE(quickman @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 09:06 PM) nope I am a full season ticket holder (4 seats ) parking pass and Stadium club. Looks like I have another call to make on monday. Full-partial what's the difference I think that's why though, I think the season ticket holders have to wait for some reason.
  7. QUOTE(quickman @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 09:01 PM) What? your kidding? I tlaked to my rep today and he said thye are not even to print until the end of the month. Nope, not joking. Quick you're a partial season ticket holder right?? I think that probably has something to do with it, I got the 13(well it's actually 14) game package. Like I said I'm very excited, first opening day for me
  8. QUOTE(Mr. Zero @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 08:48 PM) Eh, I just figured they'd be difficult to get. I'm planning on getting some the day they start selling tickets. I'd assume you would be able to get atleast a couple, I got all my tickets in the mail today, very exciting and I'll be going to opening day also
  9. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 01:57 PM) I said I think! I didn't say I know. That means I have my doubts. I give him a better than 50% chance. KW did not spend 1M on Davis because he thinks he's a bumb. He did have a solid month last year & ST is about a month long so I think he can do it. AJ slumped in Sep so that only helps Davis' chances. Hitting alone is NOT going to decide who's 1st string. Defense & pitcher's era will also play a factor. Poo Hah! Ben Davis has a 0 percent chance of being the starting catcher this year.
  10. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 08:07 AM) It's not really odd. In fact, it makes very good business sense for both of these guys. Dye and AJ both have seen their values drop [dye to injury, AJ to his reputation]. The Sox are a good fit for both to up their values. They'll play in a hitter's park, on a team with solid pitching and that contends for the playoffs every yr, and in a major city. If they perform up to their capabilities, put in the hard work etc, they'll get contracts [from the Sox or elsewhere] that will reward them much better than going to a team like Tex, or TB. Beck, by odd I mean odd to me like I said I'm not used to free agents signing on the southside for such good values, I just absolutely love to see this, what you said makes perfect sense to me but like I said I'm just not used to that happening, just very glad to see it
  11. QUOTE(Sox1422 @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 07:56 AM) Seems that the Sox still have a little money to play with if they are truly going to have a payroll in the 72-75 million range. I would think if they reaaly wanted Iguchi they would maybe bump up their offer a million or so. They might if they have to but Kenny is probably trying to get him at the lowest price possible, he doesn't want to bid against himself and at this point I do think the sox are the only team truely interested so it wouldn't surprise me if Iguchi's agent is trying to get Kenny to do exactly that. We'll see what comes of these negotiations but if Tadahito really wants to play in America he'll be a part of the White Sox, imo.
  12. Very odd, it seems like two guys(dye and aj) signed with the sox when they got better offers elsewhere. That's something I definitely love to hear and something I don't recall happening for the White Sox in quite a while, props to Jermaine and aj for not just caring about money. With the current market the sox have signed some very good players for a very good value, very impressive imo.
  13. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 07:42 AM) I think its the sox public negotiating stance. They're forcing Iguchi to accept their offer, come down a little, or they'll move on [to Alex Cora prob]. Iguchi should make a move or he'll be in Japan for another yr, as I don't think another team is willing to take the risk on him the Sox are over 2 yrs. He'll sign if he's smart I agree with you beck. IMO it's the White Sox or he's staying in Japan, they want to know something on his negotations within the next day or two I would assume so if he's out of the question they can move onto Cora or Cairo, jmo.
  14. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 07:05 AM) That was such a good game, espcailly since that was that was the year after the Angles won the WS, so it was big time to beat them. God that was such a good game to be at, I remember after that 2nd HR everyone was giving high 5's to everyone around them, the place was nuts. I was there too, that was an awesome game besides that the other great memory I have was Jose's walkoff homer against the Indians last year when the sox were up 8 to 0 and Cleveland ended up bringing it to extras before jose hit the walkoff that was also a fun game to be at. Afterwards coming down the ramp everyone chanting Jose, Jose, Jose, Jose, fun game.
  15. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 06:46 AM) Me and CWSOX45 were talking about that at school yesturday. I really think Schmidt is going to be on the market come July. I doubt it, like qwerty said as long as Bonds is healthy they're going to contend.
  16. QUOTE(quickman @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) Qwerty, I think they are loking for somebody that is fundementally sound in many aspects of the game. Somebody that will do what OZzie and the coaches ask. Soembody that plays hard nosed ball, keeps others involved, always keeps trying, always plays the game hard. That's the reason right there.
  17. I want Iguchi, that way we have our number 2 hitter behind scotty and we can move aaron down.
  18. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 07:57 PM) I ahd three or four of the same post too then they would not delete for me. Still does not make sense. If they are not a fan of willie why are they a fan of cora's? Just because of his brother? Intangibles.
  19. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 07:45 PM) Per Cbssportsline.com Second baseman Tadahito Iguchi is close to reaching an agreement with the White Sox, says the New York Post. Help may be on the way. Hang in there. That was reported yesterday, get with the program
  20. QUOTE(black jack @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 05:33 PM) i was driving home from work today and heard that Green nixed the trade to the d-backs. i started to get worried the dodgers were going to swoop in and grab AJ. i only wish the deal was 2-3 seasons instead of just one. GREAT MOVE KENNY!!!! Well Aj is arbitration eligible after this season so he's still the sox property so to speak through the 06 season.
  21. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 05:32 PM) Do we have spots in our bullpen. After last year watching Old Man River Jackson and Billy Chaos rumble out of the pen I never thought the pen would be addressed. Thanks for proving me wrong KW. I would move one of our long relievers back to AAA to season up as a starter just in case El Duque goes down. Send Cotts back to AAA to learn a third pitch and work in the rotation. Atkins is our long man and we are good. If Nen burns out or someone gets hurt Cotts would be stretched enough not to use Mr. Teeball Stand Jason Grilli or Mr. Teeball stand II Felix Diaz. It would only be a minor league contract and there's nothing wrong with adding depth. If Nen were to be healthy you add an elite arm to the pen, if not you lose nothing.
  22. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 05:28 PM) Does anyone else think that many of AJ's doubles and triples will become homers here in the AL version of Coor's? I hope so....I am a little worried still about losing the HRs with Lee and Magg's departure We're still going to hit over 200 homeruns, no need to worry about the power production.
  23. QUOTE(Mr. Zero @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 05:18 PM) What does that mean? He'd be arbitration eligible? That's what I took it as.......
  24. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 03:38 PM) This move is better than the last time we inked a C from a Div Rival.. My bad anthrax, I misread your post I guess I'm just used to your negativity I'm to happy to read straight
  25. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 03:38 PM) This move is better than the last time we inked a C from a Div Rival.. Can you be happy for once, we just signed one of the best young hitting catchers there is for a cheap, cheap price.
