QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 11:05 PM) I think Carlos fell out of favor with KW. It was probably both of them, I don't think Ozzie cared for Carlos's approach at the plate but I could be wrong.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 11:02 PM) It's a well known fact that Lee's value was high enough to fetch a #1 or #2 pitcher for the CWS. This was written up by Gammons himself. Think about that in terms of what we got for him. As someone said above Lee's value was higher than that of Koney's. So if this was a salary dump why not Koney over Lee? Look at all our 2B options we are discussing now. Any one of those players would have been thrown in with a relief pitcher & a PTBNL for Lee. That was likely the starting price for Lee. First off consider your source for that one. Second, I think the main reason Kenny traded carlos over koney was that carlos fell out of favor with Ozzie.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 10:46 PM) What I was saying is that I'm OD-ing on stats. Ah, ok, I'm an idiot, don't mind me

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 10:36 PM) The word "overkill" seems to come to mind. Ya, sorry about that, just making my point but I guess I've done that enough already :banghead

QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 10:05 PM) What is your and other people's fascination with Alex Cora? Willie Harris is just as capable, if not more. Look at the numbers, Alex Cora sucks. Stats aren't everything.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 08:42 PM) It's really not hard to look up. Ichiro vs ALC: vs. CLE .360 .383 .459 .842 vs. DET .345 .385 .482 .867 vs. KAN .313 .389 .465 .854 vs. MIN .306 .324 .352 .676 Ichiro vs West, CC : 733, 1160 Ichiro vs Mor, Joh : 619. 1166 Ichiro vs San, Rad : 500, 885 The difference with Ichiro is his BA is good despite a low OPS. vs West he hit 286, vs San he hit 250. Great fit. He was just using that as an example. I think he's trying to say that you're throwing out some ridiculous stats to prove whether or not a player is a solid player, sorry if I put words in your mouth qwert, that's just how I interpreted it.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 08:19 PM) is he a FA because if he isnt i dont think pirates let him go but if he is i dont see why not sign a guy like him. He's not a fa.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 07:09 PM) Rollins vs Milwood, Sabathia : 750, 1500 Rollins vs Moroth, Johnson: 286, 237 Rollins vs Santana, Radke: 500, 000 Grant it he only had a few ab's against all but Milwood but he certainly didn't make the most of them. There's a greatly probability they will dominate him than he'll succeed. No to Rollins. You look into stats way to much. Because Rollins hasn't done well against certain pitchers that he hasn't faced that much you don't want him on the team, just ridiculous imo.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 03:51 PM) The Colts are a lock then. ChiSox3443: i think gb blows 'em out I knew you were going to bring that up in this thread :headshake

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 05:05 PM) That is not a great deal for houston, not at all. I was about to say that, Houston is gutting themselves even more if they do this deal.

QUOTE(chisox2334 @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 01:32 PM) People love harris cause fist time people heard his name thought he was next ray durham and which now kenny wants ray ray back I don't love Willie but he's not a bad player. He posted some decent numbers last year and if we have to I have no problem going into the year with willie as the 2b, although I'd prefer to get a middle infielder that could hit 2nd.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 11:17 AM) Yes he has the Def range.. but so did Royce Clayton, and he didn't last to long. Actually no, Royce had very little range for a shortstop but when he did get to a ball he'd make the play.

QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 01:02 PM) Well done, very cool.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 07:49 AM) If the Astros trade for Randy Winn, it looks certain that Reed will be the center fielder for the M's in 2005. I think he'll be the starting centerfielder regardless of Winn being traded or not, I think randy is slated to start in left as of right now for Seattle.

I wish billy the best of luck, he sucked for the sox but he was a classy guy, I hope he can refind his velocity.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 07:35 AM) Wow, aren't we good. I forgot to do this but if I did I would have got 1. :headshake -
Indy looks great but I don't think they can beat the Pats in NE if it was indoors at Indy then ya I would think they have a shot. I say Pats by 10 next week.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 10:26 PM) We've been good enough the past few years, IMO. We just haven't done it. Bingo.
-
QUOTE(soxman352000 @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 10:08 PM) With additions such as Hermanson, Podsednik, Hernandez, and Pierzynski, is this the team that finally frigures out a way to beat the Twins and get us into the playoffs? Are there more moves that need to be done in order for the up and coming season to be successful or do think that we have done all we needed to this off season? Are we good enough, yes, are are we going to that remains to be seen and until we beat the twins I won't bet againt Minny.

QUOTE(Pale Hose Jon @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 09:54 PM) Considering that the movie really wasn't that good, over a hundred million is awesome I agree, I thought it was awful.

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 09:36 PM) Why is it that we jump on these rumors like this. It seems that every MLB team wityh a 2Bman is now trying to trade that player to the Sox. It is all rumors started by some columnist who wants to tell his readers what HE thinks might happen and not much of it has any real truth. I don't know what Jimmy Rollins is making this year, but I am certain it is much more than Willie Harris. I don't think the Sox have any more money to spend or use to pick up salary. KW has said that Willie plays 2B in '05 for the Sox. I think the line up is set as is. We have made several moves to plug what were called holes. I think we gave up too much with Carlos Lee being traded, but I kind of like the other moves. Let's get a grip on ourselves with these trade rumors and possible moves, etc. Who would we have to trade anyway? Strip our farm system again? We need to keep our prospects beasue if we don't win in '05 I can see a number of established players gone and we will be in a youth movement. I think the reason everyone is talking about this so much is because well....there isn't much else to talk about. Also I completely disagree with you about if we dont win in 05 we're going to be in a youth movement. We have all 5 starters locked up past this year with Bmac on the way, with that kind of starting pitching you'll have a shot to contend, imo.
