Ok I'm sure some people aren't going to like this but I thought I'd bring it up. In my opinion not only would this help the pitching staff it would help the offense. I know Benson would be a risk but I think at worse he'd be a solid 5th starter and who knows with a change of scenery he might start living up to some of his potential. Salary wise for this year it's pretty much a wash and the Pirates would probably do this trade and probably do it right now. They could use a power hitting outfielder and they've wanted to trade Benson for a while now. With Lee gone you could put Gload in left field and see if he could produce and balance out the lineup a little more with another left handed bat(it's amazing how well the sox hit with three lefties out there) and if gload couldn't produce as an every day player(but i think he would) then reed could still be an answer in aaa. I personally would love a trade like this but I'm sure there are many of you who would be real opposed to it, I just thought I'd bring it up.

Yup exactly, everyone hates when the sox lose and some games hurt more then others, but get used to it, it's baseball teams are going to lose games, I do agree with jreed that these dumb threads after every lose have to stop....UNBELIEVABLE.

I completely agree it's dumb for someone to post one of these threads everytime someone has a bad game. But the thing is there is always one person who is going to post one of these dumb threads. Like I said before..... deep breaths.

The dodgers definitely wouldn't do Alvarez for Konerko if they would, KW probably would have already pulled the trigger on that, because that would be a great trade.

Neal Cotts will be a stud starting pitcher, period. He didn't really step into the greatest situation tonight. Next year he will have a permanent spot in the rotation and prove to everyone what kind of player he really is.

hmmm... never thought about Chipper, what's his contract status, that actually might be something to think about because I think atlanta will be way out of it by the deadline and if they are, they might be at the point where they're going to start rebuilding. I've wanted the sox to go after Randall since the offseason I think he'd be a great pickup. I think delgado is a pipe dream but he probably will be traded this year.

I agree, Gibbons would be a great guy to have on the sox but I don't think the o's will want to part with him right now.

Why because he's the most negative person in the world. Obviously in his mind roger, biggio or bagwell will get injured by the asb but the cubs will get everyone healthy and have no other injuries the rest of the year. :headshake

Right beastly, because Uribe, Shingo and Shoney have done nothing this year. I know shoney was acquired in a trade last year, but Kenny and ozzie both kept faith in the guy and gave him a spot in the rotation even after a terrible spring. Even if you think it's all because of ozzie, who hired him?

Jose is a fine ss and there is absolutely no reason to move him around. If you don't like his defense at ss your definitely not going to like it at 3b.

I know koch scares the hell out of everyone but he gets the job done and that's all that matters. Would I be scared like crazy if he came in during the playoffs... no doubt but what he get the job done, there's a good chance he would. Marte is marte, I'm sure shingo would be fine in the playoffs, who knows about cotts, and I'm sure adkins would only be used if he was really needed. I'm sure jackson and wunsch would be fine. I guess we can agree to disagree on this topic. If we'd have to give up Lee to get schmidt you better pull the trigger on it. Like I said before I absolutely love Carl and he's probably the one left handed bat I want on the sox more then anyone that is in reasonable reach. To me I still between Lee and Konerko one of them has to be traded. To me a perfect scenario is to get rid of Lee and get Carl not necessarily in the same trade

LOL, I do like most of your ideas, however I don't think there is any need for the sox to add another bullpen, I do think it's a playoff pen especially once damaso gets going and don't forget if the sox were to make the playoffs cotts would go back in the pen also. Now if the sox were able to someway swing a deal for Jason Schmidt of course you do it, I think crede is going to be a solid player but if you can get an ace you do it, but I don't think the giants are going to trade him. Also I would absolutely love to get Carl back he's a damn good left handed bat that came up with some huge hits last year, you'd also be able to put him behind Frank and then Frank would start getting some pitches to hit and go absolutely nuts.

I hope your kidding, damaso is stuggling right now but for the most part he's still producing and once damaso gets back to his old self which he will, the sox will again have the best left handed reliever in the american league.

I'm worried about Willie, the guy has been playing great and I don't want anything to stop that and an injury could definitely slow him down a little bit.
