  1. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 05:31 PM) When I was 16, the White Sox debuted their new free agent catcher, Carlton Ernest Fisk. Ernest? Dude was probably terrible.
  2. Rondo trade just about finalized. Dallas good.
  3. QUOTE (farmteam @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 03:46 PM) Just absurd. Everything about it. The premise, the cowardice, everything. Yes.
  4. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 01:44 PM) Can they send Nieto to minors now? Yes but who are we clearing off the 40 man?
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 01:28 PM) People seem to be assuming it will be Sanchez. IMO, as long as he looks pretty decent in ST, I think Micah will get the nod, with Sanchez and Saladino in the running for utility role(s). I don't know his defense at 3B. He's decent at SS and 2B - OK range, good arm (assuming it comes back healthy), not flashy but playable. I think having Davidson in Charlotte helps. Even if he still struggles, he is very likely to do better than last year offensively (would be hard not to). And he may do a lot better. Though he's never been thought of as strong defensively. Sanchez and Saladino should both be able to play there in a pinch. The system does lack a truly strong defensive 3B though. All the way up and down, it lacks in that area. I think Micah is going to get the nod. I'm just saying if I had my way I'd probably go with Sanchez with the way this team is currently constructed.
  6. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 12:51 PM) Not defensively, though. Nope. Sanchez should grade out to an above average defensive 2b. I know the Sox want to go with Micah but as I said in a different thread, I'm perfectly ok with putting Sanchez there even with his s***ty bat if he can be a good 2b defensively.
  7. Cutler deserves a ton of blame this year but I'm kind of expecting him to light it up with some other team next season. Just seems like something that would happen to the Bears.
  8. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 11:53 AM) It's cause we're trading Abreu to them. Possibly with Sale. Makes sense so we can clear some salary.
  9. I'm not even sure why Rodon was brought up, I'm fairly certain not one person on this site has advocated trading him this offseason. Greensox just likes to complain about trading prospects for no reason.
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 11:35 AM) HEY EVERYONE WE DONT HAVE TO CRY OURSELVES TO SLEEP NOW BECAUSE HE IS WRONG The offseason is still young. Sale will probably be traded to Boston by spring training.
  11. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 08:29 AM) Also, 64-0 M-F? Jeez. I knew it was bad, but that's really bad. It's because women aren't allowed to vote. #badsexistjokes
  12. I agree with the majority on this topic. It'd be nice to upgrade the defense at 3b but it's definitely an exaggeration to say that Conor will cost us 8-10 games. I'm also ok with Saladino being Gillaspie's platoon partner at the moment assuming Tyler is healthy.
  13. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 08:48 PM) They should have done this much sooner. At the least, you want Clausen to get enough reps that you know whether or not he's worth a s***. At this point, I'm not sure if you can learn anything from how he plays. See Cousins, Kirk Clausen is complete garbage, we already know this.
  14. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 04:29 PM) Gigantic prospects trade between Nationals, Rays, and Padres. Padres get: OF Wil Myers (Rays), C Ryan Hannigan (Rays), P Jose Castillo (Rays) Rays get: OF Steven Souza (Nats), C Rene Rivera (Padres), P Burch Smith (Padres), 1B Jake Bauers (Padres) Nats get: SS Trea Turner (Padres), P Joe Ross (Padres). Trea Turner will be a PTBNL, since he was drafted in June of 2014, he is eligible to join the Nats organization June 13th, 2015, which is weird to me that he will get developed and instructed by a different team. Makes you wonder how that has to be for both Trea and his coaches. In my opinion, the Nats and Rays are the winners here. Nats traded Souza for Trea Turner and Joe Ross. Padres I think did the worst here. This trade is so much fun because who the hell knows.
  15. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 07:10 PM) http://www.csnchicago.com/white-sox/samard...im-feeling-home Samardzija might be a bigger Sox fan than some of us. So who is he on Soxtalk?
  16. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 06:03 PM) Exactly. He's had 3 basically 6 week stints with the Sox. And through it all, he's league average. It's hard to believe that that's his ceiling. Yes, it may take a while. That's why this "all in" idea for this season never made any sense. YOu need young players, they take time and you can't plug what was a 63 win roster (which was even worse considering that that 63 win roster had an ace starter). I also don't understand the woe over the trades. yes, Davidson looks bad, but we have traded a replaceable relief pitcher for him. We traded another young pitcher for a starting YOUNG CF. WE cashed in Peavy for A Garcia (who is at worst average) plus top 100 Montas, plus slick fielding Rondon (who we'll need in 2 years or may be able to trade for a different young player). Far prefer these trades for YOUNG players than the trades for the "proven veterans" like Swisher, Vasquez, Edwin Jackson and Teahan. On a side note - I see the Dodgers are peddling Brandon League. Well, they waived Javy Guerra last year to retain that proven pitcher League. How did that work out? Great for us, as Guerra is the better pitcher now as he was then. How many puppies did you kill when we traded Reed, Olivo and Morse for Garcia in 04?
  17. Dontrelle Willis was one of the ROY's when I was 16. Nice.
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 06:00 PM) Have they lost since he and KD have been back? Has there ever been a year in NBA history in which you could make a championship case without looking like a fool for the top 8 in one conference? I see the Pelicans are a 1/2 game ahead of OKC for 8th. That won't last much longer. San Antonio/OKC as the 7/8 seeds in the West would be funny. SA isn't going to stay there for long but OKC has a lot of games to make up against really good teams to climb into the top half.
  19. Ya but Tony Batista had a cool stance.
  20. Ya this is f***in stupid.
  21. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 02:58 PM) If the D-backs are really trying to do a one diet fits all players, that is awful. Professionals should know better. It's a black eye to our profession. That'd be so insanely stupid if they're doing that.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 04:05 PM) Unlike most, I have very low expectations of those 3. Does anyone here have high expectations for any of those guys this year? I think Micah will probably be the guy but I'd personally be real happy with giving the job to Sanchez and letting him suck at the plate as long as he provides an above average glove which I think he can do at 2b.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 04:04 PM) 10 years ago there was so much offense that people wouldn't care that much about a guy who hits 25 home runs but under .250 with a sub.750 OPS in his best year. Beat me to it.
  24. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 04:03 PM) Man, if the sabes didnt exist it would have been so easy to trade Tank for something good! I bet 10 years ago you could have gotten a nice return for a guy like him. I know what you mean but 10 years ago 20 homers was nothing and that's all Dayan offers.
