  1. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 05:45 PM) Are people so done with Viciedo that they'd rather go with someone like Jordan Danks, JB Shuck, Trayce Thompson, or some other NRI type of player? I'm not happy with Viciedo either, but $4 million isn't a ton in today's game (teams will pay $7-7.5 million on the open market for 1 WAR, and it wouldn't be surprising if Viciedo ended up at 0.5 WAR), and if the difference between getting a guy who could make or break the season is $4 million this season, Reinsdorf would make the move. He paid $4 million for one month of Manny Ramirez, and that was like 5 years ago when the value of money was greater than it is in today's environment. Thinking along the lines that we could use that 4 mill elsewhere. But you a make a fair point and that pains me to say since it's you.
  2. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 10:09 AM) anyone see the joke; Why did Lester choose the cubs? He was promised his Octobers off. Not really a good joke coming from a Sox fan unfortunately.
  3. I'm not worried about their record at all, just keep getting people healthy and Derrick up to speed. Toronto and Atlanta will fall back to the pack at some point, Cleveland is still the only team to worry about in this conference from a Bulls fans perspective(assuming a healthy team).
  4. Tendering Viciedo a contract is going to be the one mistake Rick's made this offseason from my perspective.
  5. Clearly a glaring mechanical issue that Coop saw with this one. I don't usually cry "Coop will fix him" but this seems like a guy that Cooper is pretty confident that he can improve and this dude is already a solid reliever. This could turn out pretty damn good for us.
  6. So one of the trainers at my gym put me through a work out today that JJ Watt does(obviously a lot less weight on the lifts). What I learned today is that JJ Watt is a monster and I am not.
  7. Detroit can definitely hit, every other part of their team is suspect imo. That said, who am I to doubt them in the AL Central?
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 11:03 AM) So if I look at the Dodgers...they have lost Dee Brown, Dude that played for the Celtics or Illini?
  9. The front end of the bullpen is actually a little overcrowded now. Not the best depth in the world but there is a bit of depth there at the moment.
  10. Seems like a great trade. I really hope we bring Carroll back to be the long man in the pen and I'll be a happy camper.
  11. I was told his defense is starting to decline quite a bit, if he was still the Ichiro of old in the field, I'd be all about him despite the below average bat at this point.
  12. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 06:36 PM) Athletics nation is hilarious. In their opinion semien is an above avg ss for the next decade, phegley is a promising "mlb ready catcher" (lol ok he is literally the definition of aaaa) and bassitt and ravelo will contribute with long mlb careers. Get real guys it was a very avg haul with Semien keying the deal. Them talking about phegley is especially lol worthy. Come on man. Besides Phegley none of that is crazy. And I'm sure like any fan board, some people are overly optimistic and some are ridiculously pessimistic about the deal.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 04:09 PM) I think this is the final game in the Saluki/Ohio Valley Conference tournament. Oh we get one game off from them after this but we still have 2 games left against the OVC in OOC. Yup.
  14. I feel the same way about the 4-5 spots in the rotation as a I do with 3b and catcher, we can definitely upgrade but I don't consider them holes either.
  15. QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 02:20 PM) While I don't think Escobar and Davis will repeat what they did, their bullpen shouldn't really regress to a level lower than "of the best." Hochevar is a stud and will add another dimension. I think their biggest mistake is not trading Holland this offseason. Don't get me wrong, I think their pen is still going to be very good but there are just some guys that can't possibly repeat what they did last season and so much of their success was based on that ridiculous pen.
  16. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 01:50 PM) If you like KC going forward, you have to buy into Hosmer and Moustakas' second halves being "breakouts" rather than "hot streaks." Losing Butler shouldn't impact them much, because they didn't REALLY have his production last year, since he was terrible. You also have to really believe in Danny Duffy. Honestly I don't think we're THAT much worse. They're more balanced, for sure. Our defense is horribad (but not as bad as Cleveland's ) Their bullpen is going to regress a bit too. I'm not too worried about them either.
  17. It's kind of funny cause I really don't know how I usually pronounce it when I'm talking with someone.
  18. ESPN just told me that Joe Maddon is worth 16 wins to the Cubs, yup.
  19. I'd assume there'd be a Danks domino to fall if something like this happened but who knows, the Sox still might have a bit more cash to play with than they're letting on.
  20. Good for the Cubs. This contract will obviously be a mess they have to deal with in years 5 and 6(if not earlier) but it was time for them to make a leap like this as well. Nice rotation they have.
  21. I wouldn't be surprised if the Sox told him not to do this stuff at some point.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 08:44 PM) Eaton too...sets the tone with his style of play and enthusiasm. Speaking of Eaton, he's currently in a twitter argument with a Cubs fan.
