  1. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 10:18 AM) For those of you saying a SEC football game, I would suggest going to Ole Miss if possible. I love tailgaiting for Tennessee games, and Alabama, Georgia, LSU (night game) are awesome too. But The Grove is so unique. It's hard to truly comprehend it until you go. And Oxford is a pretty charming town as well. The difficult thing about an Ole Miss game is that it's impossible to find a hotel b/c Oxford is so small. You'd have to rent out a house (or apartment) for the weekend, which is what I did last October for the UT-Ole Miss game. A couple of my friends went to Ole Miss for the Miss State game a few weeks back and said it was amazing. The one problem? $40-50 covers to get into bars afterwards. What the s***?
  2. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 08:36 AM) Personally rather keep Tank, cheap contract, somewhat respectable numbers, nice bat off the bench and can be used at DH, 1B, 3B, LF, and RF I feel, our bench isn't too great (Nieto, Sanchez), please keep Tank, let's keep our bench and Cuban connection strong There's a reason he was moved from 3b and he's never played 1b and he's a horrible defensive of. Not exactly a guy to bring off the bench to play any of those positions.
  3. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 09:58 AM) I'm still all for adding him for piss cheap if we don't grab some significant bench players I'd rather give Saladino a shot than signing Gordon.
  4. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 09:57 AM) There has been very little talked about the catcher they picked up from Marlins. What happens to Nieto, after spending a full year with the major league team they send him down to minors? Does he have to clear waivers? He's got options so he'll be in the minors.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 06:46 AM) F yeah! We got him! Good call. You've been on a roll with that lately.
  6. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 09:41 AM) they are seeing their popularity slipping. it has to affect them. Their popularity isn't slipping at all.
  7. QUOTE (WKamm @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 07:07 AM) After they signed a cheater? Hell, no!!!! Are there any baseball teams you like?
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 09:39 AM) Never thought I would see the day where Beckham would be an ideal bench guy on this team. He can play 2b and SS and hits lefties well He really doesn't hit lefties that well.
  9. I am not a college student but I'm living in Missouri, no excuse though, I'll be going to at least 5 games this year.
  10. The Cubs have had a very good offseason too, I'm sure they couldn't care less what the Sox are doing.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 09:32 AM) Except Toronto's in win now mode too. That move would make no sense unless they got all top prospects back and punted on this season. He's talking about trading with Oakland when Donaldson was still there.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 09:29 AM) Yes, but not for all that much. Lawrie is a nice player, but Donaldson currently is a star, if I were the GM, he is one guy I would give Anderson + for. Anderson, Gillaspie and whatever for an offensive and defensive huge upgrade. And he is controlled for a while. I'm with you. It appears the Sox wanted to save the top 5-6 guys in their farm while improving the major league club though.
  13. Yes. Catcher, 3b and the bottom of the rotation are spots they could have upgraded but not holes in the roster imo. They filled every hole they had on the roster, now I just want them to find a platoon partner or two for Conor and Laroche and I think they're good to go.
  14. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 09:23 AM) If you have to field a team on today's 40-man, including Cabrera: Lineup- Eaton, Cabrera, Abreu, LaRoche, Garcia, Gillaspie, Ramirez, Flowers, Sanchez (Johnson currently non-roster invite) Bench- Leury, Danks, Viciedo, Brantly Rotation- Sale, Samardzija, Quintana, Danks, Noesi Bullpen- Guerra, Jennings, Webb, Petricka, Duke, Putnam, Robertson I think Saladino is on the roster at this point over Leury.
  15. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 09:18 AM) Wow. What a fun off season. It's like Hahn is setting the team up through a video game. How do all your targeted moves workout? Sometimes you just have to steal Jerry's checkbook.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 08:50 AM) Jones will be a while. Another reliever, and work on the bench. Who knows, maybe Hahn will get Castro to catch. BTW, Leuri is hitting .338 in the Dominican League. I'm ok with the bullpen as of now, the bench definitely needs some fine tuning though.
  17. In related news, Balta's offseason from hell continues.
  18. Well s***, wasn't expecting to wake up to this. Happy happy joy joy!
  19. All the White Sox news this past week killed this thread I think.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 13, 2014 -> 01:49 PM) We just traded for a guy on a 1 year deal likely to sign a 9 figure deal next offseason that we may not want to pay. We better be caring 100% about the White Sox making the playoffs this year. Make the playoffs this year and then pick up the pieces next offseason. We already made that call. We can think long term as a secondary priority, but we absolutely have to win 88 games this year. You're acting like we traded our whole farm and have tied up our entire future payroll with this offseason. Yes we're going for it in '15 but if we don't make the playoffs it's not like we've blown the whole rebuild. We've traded away maybe one guy that was on the famous "3 year board" as a starter in Semien. Bassitt was going to be a future reliever here, Phegley is nothing and Ravelo is completely blocked in our organization. And the future money we added this offseason was money we were going to have to spend to be a competitive team from '16 going forward anyways. All this offseason has done is make us more competitive in 2015, it hasn't killed 2016 and beyond at all.
  21. Make some room J4L I'm jumping on "the Warriors are the best team in basketball" bandwagon.
  22. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 13, 2014 -> 01:54 PM) Love Steroids.
  23. QUOTE (venom4789 @ Dec 13, 2014 -> 01:42 PM) I used to always go to orlando hernandez starts and i would do it on purpose, it seemed like he waited about forty seconds in between pitches, you were almost always going to get at least a three hour game. Buerhle on the other hand was i think about 6 or 7 seconds. I was at one of the Buehrle-Mulder hr and 40 minute games back in the day which was amazing but as you said it felt like I was barely there
  24. I can't remember what year it was but I went to like 5 or so games at the cell and I saw Scott Schoeneweis start every time. That was fun.
  25. His stuff is a lot better than Humber's but regression is certainly a good possibility
