Fantasy football advice thread
QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 25, 2013 -> 05:05 PM) In general, there's probably a bit too much stock put into matchups. Don't overplay matchups. You play your best guys. Bring matchups into play when guys are closely ranked/expectations are relatively the same. All of this is relative to who else you have, but I don't see any way you have so much depth that you're sitting Lynch, a sure-fire top 10 RB, if not top 5. You can't over think those types of decisions and get too cute. Sure, Lynch and Moreno may not get much if their team is up big, but they could have been the ones to have 2 tds to get them to that point. You just don't know. I'd rather play my studs and hope for the best even if it's just 3 quarters. You can never expect/assume a blowout situation anyway. This is something I'm with you on 100 percent. Obviously there's some matchups you can't ignore but in general I believe people over think fantasy some times.

Favorite non-star White Sox players
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 25, 2013 -> 04:41 PM) Chris Singleton There's another one for me. He was my favorite player on the Sox when I first got into baseball.

Favorite non-star White Sox players
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 25, 2013 -> 02:54 PM) No real definition, I just didn't want the thread to be people arguing about what is a "star" and what is not. I wasn't arguing for the record, just putting my reason across really. Good calls on Graff and Wunsch by whoever brought those up. Loved both of those guys. And as Tex said, Graff made me love him even more after game 2 of the ALDS in 05.

Favorite non-star White Sox players
QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Sep 25, 2013 -> 02:32 PM) Ray Durham, Willie Davis. I'd say Ray counts as a White Sox star though he wasn't an actual MLB star, same reason I didn't mention Aaron.

Favorite non-star White Sox players
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 25, 2013 -> 02:31 PM) Oh and, Pablo Ozuna. His throwing a guy out from LF, the squirrel chase... he was a guy who clearly just loved playing, and had fun doing it. I'll second Pablo, loved watching that guy play when he was here. Where's the Ben Davis fan club?

Ventura wants to stay
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 25, 2013 -> 01:49 PM) that might actually be a great thread topic. Guess Wite's 2 favorite White Sox players?

Ventura wants to stay
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 25, 2013 -> 12:57 PM) Yes. It was heading for the gap and Vlad cut it off well, but he bobbled it a little as Timo was retreating to 1B and he didn't have enough time to get a hustle double. I'm sure there were other memories of him too, those are just the two that stick out in my head. He definitely had a decent amount of go ahead hits in late innings. As I've grown older, I don't really believe in "clutchness" in baseball like I did when I was younger but at the time I loved Timo because I believed he was a clutch hitter.

Ventura wants to stay
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 25, 2013 -> 11:17 AM) I genuinely do not believe anybody that says they liked Timo Perez. He had some epic moments (and that is not a word I use lightly), but he sucked. I loved Timo. You're a poopy head.

QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 24, 2013 -> 05:35 PM) It's was pretty insane sitting in the middle of 15,000 people doing the YES! Not sure if they got a good wide shot of it on TV. Did you give AJ my number?

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 23, 2013 -> 09:29 PM) I know what you're rooting for, but from someone who has no skin in it...how the f*** is that not a defensive touchdown? Defies all logic. Oh there's absolutely no argument from me. It's just annoying now that I got stat corrected to a win, yahoo puts out an explanation for it and now it looks like I'll get stat corrected back to a loss. Yahoo just f***in with me.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 23, 2013 -> 09:05 PM) Not so fast, my friend. "We are currently reviewing the scoring for DB Terrence Newman's touchdown for the Bengals game on 9/22. More information to come. We appreciate your patience." Ya I saw. Blah.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Sep 23, 2013 -> 01:08 PM) I've been offered Mike Wallace for Antonio Brown. Do I cash in on his big night against the Bears or do I hold on to him? I'd see if you can get anything else for Brown. Wallace is just so all or nothing that I wouldn't want him on my team.

Chris Sale and wasted effort
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 23, 2013 -> 11:54 AM) Relevant http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-quality...-cy-young-race/ The more I think about it, the more I really think Sale deserves to win the Cy Young this year.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 23, 2013 -> 10:25 AM) I think that's an error, they can't take a defensive touchdown away... QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 23, 2013 -> 10:27 AM) That's what I'm thinking though I certainly hope not. I know my buddy got screwed over by a weird yahoo defensive rule last year so I'm hoping there's something bizarre here but I'm guessing it's a mistake as well. Or not, crazy NFL rule makes it a non defensive touchdown. ROWAND WINS!!!!

QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 23, 2013 -> 10:56 AM) I'm in the same boat...0-5-1 on my NFL bets the last two weeks. Rotten. My old roomates are doing a against the spread type pool against each other, through the first 2 weeks, one of them was 0-10, the other two were 1-9.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 23, 2013 -> 08:00 AM) Anyone know why the Bengals d got stat corrected for -6? Anyone? I win if that stat correction holds and I lose if it doesn't. I know exactly what play it was but I can't figure out why the hell it was changed and I'm paranoid it'll get changed back.

White Sox vs. Tigers 9/22/13
QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 22, 2013 -> 10:18 PM) You don't trade Q or Santiago to make room for Rienzo. You trade to get an equally proficient offensive player because you know you have a competent pitcher to replace Q/Santiago, but don't have a competent hitter at virtually any position. Yes, this.
