2012-2013 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Carter224 @ Dec 30, 2012 -> 06:06 PM) Watching the game at home maybe, but with a first round bye on the line and a clear non fumble how can you not throw that flag out as fast as you can if you're McCarthy? The rule is stupid, it shouldnt matter if they throw the flag or not. Its going to be reviewed either way. That could have REALLY cost them for sure though. And it would cost me, I need Green Bay to win to stay alive for the pick em pot for the season. $250 comes my way if Green Bay and Washington can win tonight! This has literally come up every week. Yes the rule is beyond dumb but any coach that still throws the challenge flag at that point is just an idiot.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 30, 2012 -> 05:53 PM) Emotions take over sometimes I guess. This isn't a shot at you cause I know you're just trying to justify it but was that rule not the first thing that popped into everyone's head there? Obviously Jordy and Rodgers were all over it too.

Your 2013 Chicago White Sox lineup
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 29, 2012 -> 04:06 PM) Viciedo would not be in my 3-5 year plan currently. If he were playing 3B or RF, yes. If you're going to stick a 24 y.o. in LF he needs to produce quickly, if not he can be replaced fairly easily. Giving up on a 23 yr old because he plays lf is just so ridiculous and I'm just going to leave it at that.

Your 2013 Chicago White Sox lineup
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 29, 2012 -> 03:35 PM) Danks, Dunn, and Konerko accounted for 2 WAR last year. They account for roughly 43% of the current payroll, there are no simple answers. Everything should be open for discussion. Might want to check your math.

Your 2013 Chicago White Sox lineup
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 29, 2012 -> 03:09 PM) The solution is a 3-5 year plan. A 3-5 year plan where we give up on 23 year olds after 1 season.

2012-2013 NFL Thread
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 28, 2012 -> 06:54 AM) I want the Vikings to win because it could cost GB a bye and thus hurt their chances of reaching the Super Bowl, and the Bears aren't going anywhere even if they do make it in. I have better things to do on January 5 than watch the Bears lose by 30+ at SF. This is seriously absurd. It also makes you a Packers hater, not a Bears fan.

Sox seeking LH bat
QUOTE (Lamar Johnson 23 @ Dec 27, 2012 -> 09:41 AM) I didn't say that...I said I'd wait and see if/how the $7.5 million is re-allocated. The Sox of 12/27/2012 have some holes to fill; let's see if/how they're filled. BTW, on ESPN.COM baseball "power rankings", the Sox are currently ranked 23rd in MLB, 1 slot ahead of the Cubzzz. I guess I'm not the only one who hasn't seen much improvement on the South Side this off season. If we've learned anything over the years, it's that ESPN's thoughts on the Sox are almost always correct!

Sox seeking LH bat
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 27, 2012 -> 08:16 AM) Reading this board you would think he's some sort of defensive combination of Johnny Bench, Ivan Rodriquez and Benito Santiago. No. Reading this board, you'd get the impression that his defense is better than AJ's, which it is. The only person that has classified him as some sort of defensive god is you with your exaggeration. Like I've said before, the catchers position is certainly going to take a hit in production from 2012 to 2013 but it wouldn't surprise me if the Tyler Flowers of 2013 is more valuable than the AJ Pierzynski of 2013.

Sox seeking LH bat
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 26, 2012 -> 03:30 PM) You don't know this. We'll do this: if the Sox acquire a 1B prospect who destroys the ball in the minors, comes up for a cup of coffee and doesn't perform well, and the Sox don't bring back Konerko after this season, are you going to say that the Sox should bring back Konerko because "they don't have anybody good?" Like Tyler Flowers?!?!?!?!?!?

Keppinger to Sox 3 yr deal
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 25, 2012 -> 07:21 PM) With all of the trade mentions for DeAza, I still wouldn't be shocked to see the Sox reach out to Figgins. If nothing else he could be competition at 3B if he can recover after getting out of Safeco. With out looking at the stats, I would guess that being the type of player he is that Safeco didn't hurt Figgins that much. He's just not good anymore.

Keppinger to Sox 3 yr deal
QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 25, 2012 -> 11:44 AM) Does anyone think that Alex Gonzalez would be a good bench/platoon guy with Keppinger? He's coming off of ACL repair but is healthy. He's 36 but can still pick it and hit for power. Keppinger hits lefties much better than righties. Despite his struggles against Righties, Keppinger still hits better against them than Gonzalez does. Alex Gonzalez is a pretty awful hitter.

2012-2013 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 24, 2012 -> 01:15 PM) Balta...I agree with you on MVP. Peterson has been incredible and single-handedly carried that squad. Manning's team was good and made the AFC championship with Tim Tebow. However, Seattle wasn't very good and while they have an elite defense, Wilson has been so impressive and has done so against better teams then Luck has. Additionally, RG III wasn't exactly on a great team. The Redskins have had very little defensive talent stay healthy and have a pretty megshift offense. Shanny has done a great job there. 2nd round, not the afc championship for the Broncos but your point remains.

Ryan Freel commits suicide
QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Dec 24, 2012 -> 11:49 AM) Ya man I'm workin on changing things around, I'm getting a swiss ball, some protein, and my p90x back from my brother tomorrow so I'm gonna get my health back on track and that will be ultra rewarding to me. My weight has been ridiculous this year, I was at 265 back in Feb and then I got in this funk and now I'm back up to ...gulp...315...and that was a week ago, I'm sure with the holidays Ill be up to 320 before I start workin out again. That's just the tip of the iceberg though when it comes to why I'm so down, but I know I have the power to change it all and I feel good about 2013 being the year I get it all together. Smoking is another thing I'm trying to get rid of because like you said it controls me. My problem is I don't have a car anymore and the few people that are down to pick me up all smoke. I tried quitting awhile ago but I got 2 weeks in and just hated staying in the house and being alone so I just said f*** it...I still see that its holding me back though and it's something I need to do, at the very least until I find a job. I know I control my depression, I know I can beat it. I've never had depression issues so I don't know what you're going through but I have been over weight before and it's amazing what getting in shape will do for you mentally. So rewarding.

Sox seeking LH bat
QUOTE (rowand's rowdies @ Dec 23, 2012 -> 11:57 AM) If you watched that DBacks team this past season you would know how silly everything you just said sounds and realize I am right. I know the numbers sound crazy, but ask anyone who watched the Dbacks last year and they will tell you hitting .050 higher with an extra 10 hrs and 30 rbis was definitely possible. He was hitting .298 July 26th before the slide started. 90 games in. He had only 18 RBIs after July 25th, with 72 RBIs in the first 90 games. He had only 8 HRs after July 26th, with 22 HRs in the first 90 games. 90 games is a pretty good sample size, so he was on pace to hit around .300 sustaining the first 90 games. On pace to hit 128 RBIs sustaining that pace for 160 games. On pace to hit 39 HRs sustaining that pace for 160 games. With better protection that a slumping sophomore strike out king in Goldy, a streaky catcher for 10 games or whatever, and a super streaky hill for up to 10 games, or just keeping the pace he was at, he hits .300/39/128... You're being pretty ridiculous to try and make your point because there's literally nothing to back up your argument. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Dec 23, 2012 -> 04:05 PM) Please Rick Hahn, get off your lazy ass and do something already. You're embarrassing us. Or at least me. And this is just absurd.

Sox seeking LH bat
QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Dec 22, 2012 -> 03:14 PM) Once again depending on how the Sox view Sanchez I'd def make a Kubel for Ramirez trade. Then use Dayan to upgrade at 3B/SS/2B/C or SP then use Floyd to upgrade at one of those positions. In that scenario you all of a sudden go from 2 LH bats to 4 (Sanchez is a switch hitter). Yuck on Alexei for Kubel.
