2012 Summer Olympics Thread
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 07:38 PM) Errol Spence is back in the tournament, the result of his fight was overturned. When your sport has had multiple results overturned in the same Olympics, there is something seriously wrong with your judging. I love boxing but I can't stand olympic boxing.

What do you think of this idea....honorary World Series ring
QUOTE (SnB @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 12:40 PM) "Mr. Madison, what you've just said ... is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul." That was on this morning and definitely the first thing that popped into my head upon reading this thread.

One of the dumbest ideas I've ever heard.

Robin Ventura Named White Sox Manager
QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 04:36 PM) BMAC was such a fan favorite, it was understandable. I was really happy for him this year. He was but it wasn't that. A bunch of my favorite players have moved on(Rowand and Buehrle) to name the biggest two and I was happy we traded them/let them go. I just thought Brandon was going to be an absolute stud for us while I wasn't too high on John. I was very wrong and very happy to be so.

Robin Ventura Named White Sox Manager
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 02:07 PM) When you get pissed, good things happen. Danks > McCarthy. Ventura > Ozzie. I think that was the most I've ever overreacted after a Sox trade or game. I was not happy about that one.

Peavy's future here
I honestly think the smartest thing to do is to just let Peavy walk.

Robin Ventura Named White Sox Manager
As sox fans we were all angry at the organization at the time of this thread but the overreaction here was pretty comical. I also like bmags 1st post in this thread, I obviously know what he was referring to but it's funny how that has worked out.

Robin Ventura Named White Sox Manager
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 05:13 PM) Who? I don't remember that much outrage. Most people wanted somebody with experience, but I sure didn't want some of the coaches whose names were tossed out there like martinez and Alomar. If Sox weren't going to go with a guy like Francona, Robin was as good as anybody. It did seem like Robin was going to be a Jacque Vaughn type hire, though. A guy to manage the team through rebuilding. The Sox didn't go that way fortunately, instead keeping most of the main players. Of course nobody wanted Dunn, Rios or Peavy in trades. There was a ton of outrage.

2012 Park District Sports Thread
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 5, 2012 -> 06:13 PM) I will be interested to see your results in something like this. Co-ed? The league has been an absolute blast. Our team finished the regular season about as average as possible: Won dodgeball 3rd place in the volleyball tourny Lost flag football Lost basketball Won softball Won volleyball Lost flag football Playoffs start next week with basketball. Despite being ridiculously average through the regular season if we can get by bball next week(only one of our girls and myself have ever really played basketball competitively before) I think we can win the whole thing.

Santiago was sent down
I actually really like Hector's upside, I think he can be a quality starter for us at some point

Danks will have exploratory surgery
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 08:19 AM) Sale not having the endurance to get through a full season as a starter could have been predicted at the start of 2011 when they gambled on putting him in the bullpen for a full season. And it was still the correct thing to do.

7/27 Games
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 03:20 PM) He's making big strides though. Very similar tools wise to a Denard Span. Could be an impact #1 or #2 hitter and you have to like the fact that he's continuously improving. Hard to say, but as a whole, I feel as though the Sox system has taken major steps forward (and this is despite the 2 big prospects they acquired for Quentin/Santos not exactly living up to their hype). As well as Stewart being a POS (although thankfully he helpds land Youk). Castro has definitely taken a step forward this year so he's done more than live up to the hype.

Top 20 Prospect List
QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 08:19 AM) If all 30 #1's were listed and ranked, where do you think Molina would be? Last but he's not our number 1 prospect. The Whitesox.com list is always awful for whatever reason.

SOX GAMETHREAD: SWEEP FOR SIX
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 08:17 PM) You said Blanton not me...............I can make a list of pitchers I would want over GF in a trade. Sox better trade him now or suffer with his enept ass. The guy has been a very good middle of the rotation starter. Inept? Please.

When will Konerko be...Konerko?
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 12:58 PM) Where the heck did we get the opinion he was struggling? It seemed like he was never getting a hit for the longest time. He still was excelling apparently. He was struggling big time pre all star break. Regression to the mean, was bound to happen(same thing that's going on with Hamilton) but he's been great since the ASB.

Danks will have exploratory surgery
QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 12:21 PM) If you don't sign a pitcher to a long-term deal, someone else will. So you can take the stance of never handing out long-term contracts, but be prepared to lose every good pitcher you have to FA. Ya, this.

Sox land Liriano
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 12:08 AM) Then bring back Juan Uribe + Cash train. Would the train cost a lot of money though?
-
Sox land Liriano
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 12:06 AM) Coming into tonight, Escobar was hitting .159 with a .444 OPS against righties. That's not starting SS caliber unless he drastically improves. I do want to thank him for walking off the Brewers on that Sunday afternoon. Seems like a nice kid so I definitely wish him the best but ya, he's not very good.

Sox land Liriano
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 12:05 AM) Put me on the "Bring Juan Uribe Back" train. That crazy motherf***er would be great. Gross contract.

Sox land Liriano
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 12:01 AM) Want to pretend it's 2005 again and have numerous disagreements? It was fun and it worked so why the hell not?
