2011-12 White Sox off season catch all thread
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 01:09 AM) I'm not saying losing 30 lbs will make him good again, but it's a sign he is working hard and trying to improve. He could easily just do nothing and hope it turns around. And I am sure losing 30 lbs won't HURT at least, at least. Maybe even makes him a half-step faster! haha. I agree. I'm just not interested in the 80 offseason articles that go along with it nor will I believe he can hit a baseball again until I see him hit a baseball...

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 21, 2012 -> 10:02 PM) I don't care much what people's opinions of JoePa are, but when he does die, he should be remembered for a legendary career and for all the great things he did do, not the things he didn't. I, for one, hope he lives another 100 years. The man is a legend. And he's still a human being. And he still has a family that loves him and cares about him. Wow, could not disagree more. The bastard enabled child rape, f*** his career, I hope he burns in hell.

If the Bulls get the 1 or the 2 they should just rest Rose and start Scali for the 1st round series.

2011-12 White Sox off season catch all thread
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jan 21, 2012 -> 02:27 PM) Yeah, but ones that include something quantifiable are cool with me. Saying he lost 30 pounds can be proved or disproved. It's the articles that say "Feels great" or "Feels in the best shape of his life" or "Has a new outlook" or something are stupid and fluffy. If Adam really lost 30 pounds, and that should be quite noticeable, then I think this is great news. Dude was fat when he was good too. If he did indeed lose the weight it's nice that he seemingly has dedicated himself to getting back to form but who knows how the weight loss will effect his swing, power, etc...

QUOTE (daa84 @ Jan 21, 2012 -> 08:11 PM) Timberwolves are 7-8 and in last place. Why does this board act like they are the 83 celtics? No one thinks they're great but they're a ton of fun to watch.

*Official* Work Out Thread
QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jan 21, 2012 -> 07:22 PM) After 8 days I've gained 4 pounds. I've gone from 196 to 200, my height is 6-2". I've been following my diet closely. Just wondering if that's a little excessive or what because if anything I'm looking to get rid of my gut and try to get a flat stomach. Weight can fluctuate real quickly, though in my experience I usually can lose a few lbs in a couple days rather than gain. Either way monitor your bf% instead of your weight if your trying to lose your gut.

Sox still listening on Gavin
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 21, 2012 -> 11:34 AM) Boston would have to freaking overwhelm the Sox before the Sox pick up a large portion of G's contract. The White Sox paying for another team to try to win the AL? Yeah, no. And that's what you hope for. If the Sox trade Gavin they're all out anyways, pick up some of the money and hope to get overwhelmed with a prospect package...

Sox still listening on Gavin
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jan 20, 2012 -> 08:52 PM) http://www.weei.com/sports/boston/this-jus...t-scutaro-trade We should have enough salary relief at this point where we could pick up a bit of Gavin's contract and get some higher level prospects back. I know that's unlikely to happen but it'd be nice...

Soxfest 2012 announced
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 21, 2012 -> 08:12 AM) KW is only doing a Friday seminar. Anyone not buying a hotel package won't be able to question him. Apparently KW isn't "Chicago tough". Its time for a change if the GM or the marketing department is afraid of what the fans might have to say. OTOH, maybe he'll be too involved in Gavin Floyd trade talks with Toronto those days. KW needed to go with Ozzie. Its time for a fresh start. This isn't one. The GM is ducking the media and the fans. How effective can he really be? If things are going well he always has something to say. IMO that's a character flaw. Cmon now, there's a lot to complain about when it comes to Kenny but he's never ducked the media or fans...

Peavy vs Ozzie
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 20, 2012 -> 05:15 PM) I'm glad Ozzie is going to speak some more. I hope he makes Jerry and the front office look so bad. I mean grown people are acting like Ozzie was welcome back one more year, the final year of his contract, etc., cause that was the company line and they say Ozzie "quit" with two games left with the Sox 29 games out of first place. I've maintained all along KW won this war. So what if Ozzie technically "quit" with 1-2 days to go, to take a much better job w/job security? Please. The 2 hated each other. Kenny won. Case closed. Speak, Ozzie. I want to hear more about this. p.s. The difference between the Ozzie lovers and haters IMO is we lovers don't give a f*** what Ozzie says publicly. The haters tend to look at all his sentences (of which there are a zillion) and study them religiously. I took Ozzie's statements as great theatre, great fun. Many of you took them and got mad. I don't know why I continue to respond to you but you support a guy who you believe quit on your favorite team...get a f***in clue.

SOXOBAMA's opinion: Payton > Jordan
QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jan 19, 2012 -> 09:33 PM) Im surprised people have Barry Sanders above Payton. In terms of making highlights Sanders was number one but he also I think has the most negative rushes too in the history of the NFL or is up there at the very least. Walter Payton is the 2nd best RB of all time imo behind Jim Brown. Gale Sayers was more talented but his career was too short to put him on best ever list. But yes, being arguably the 2nd best RB in the NFL (some would have him a few spots lower) doesn't make you better than the best NBA player of all time, even if you put Wilt in front of Jordan that makes him 2nd best NBA player of all time while Payton is at best 2nd in just his position. Barry averaged .6 more yards per carry than Walter.
