  1. Still gotta win another in Milwaukee, not over yet...
  2. QUOTE (Cali @ Oct 14, 2011 -> 02:24 PM) Isn't it just assumed that your ace should go 1-4-7* in any 7 game series to give you the best chance to win? All the pundits out there were saying it'd be tough to beat the Tigers with Verlander starting 3 games in a 7 game series etc. That's not always the best way to go especially when your pitcher has never done it before. It's really nothing to blame Leyland or Verlander for.
  3. QUOTE (Felix @ Oct 14, 2011 -> 05:54 PM) Spoken like someone that never watched Johnny Flynn or Sebastian Telfair play regularly. Oh I have but that's oop is really not that difficult. Maya Moore could make that pass.
  4. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 14, 2011 -> 03:04 PM) Praise the lord no more Tony Pena. This QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 14, 2011 -> 03:21 PM) Wait, why are we just dropping Septimo and Lindsay? This
  5. QUOTE (Felix @ Oct 14, 2011 -> 04:35 PM) I mean, say what you want about the NBA and Rajon Rondo, but there isn't anyone else in the game today that could do this: I'm pretty sure every pg in the nba could do that.
  6. The 2 seasons that the Sox have made the playoffs under the KW regime, there were no expectations nationally(I say nationally because this board was actually pretty excited about the 05 team) so in that regard I actually agree with Marty.
  7. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 12, 2011 -> 04:42 PM) Before anyone starts talking about a new league, they are going to need to hire a bunch of attorneys to try and figure out if the players would be in breach of their playing contracts. Im just guessing here, but I cant really imagine a NBA contract not having a clause that explicitly forbids them from playing in a competitive league. But maybe the attorneys are stupid, but if they are smart there is a liquidated damages clause that states that if the player plays in a competitive league while under contract the damages are equal to the players salary. Once again I dont have the contracts, but I really doubt its as easy as finding new investors and starting a league. Are you talking about when the NBA isn't locked out? Because there are obviously a lot of players going to play in competitive leagues right now.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 12, 2011 -> 05:14 PM) And yet I didn't hear them going after Cashman. They're paying a premium price solely for the "guy who broke the other curse." you know that. Cashman was never seemingly available. I'm certainly not going to argue your point as I'm sure that had something to do with it, all I'm saying is Boston has been the best franchise in baseball since Theo has arrived, it would have been silly for the Cubs to not look at him for the job.
  9. Don't we all wish we could have a rally beer at work?
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 12, 2011 -> 02:34 PM) If Theo had exactly the same career record and performance, except the Red Sox had won the world series in 86, would the Cubs have been so interested in him? Would he still have gotten $20 million from them? He won two world series in 9 years, how would they not be interested?
  11. Ya, not very smart though that is the best quote of all time.
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 12, 2011 -> 10:31 AM) Yes, I'm sure no tv station on earth would try to get the rights to that. lol. They'd have a tv deal in .00000000000000000001 second.
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 11, 2011 -> 09:56 PM) I jinx things. That's what I do. Texas is good, they aren't 2005 White Sox good.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 11, 2011 -> 10:33 PM) I wasn't the one who made a post concerned about one of his boring answers today. I was responding to it. I prefer funny showmen like Ozzie, but Ventura deserves our support even if he is very very very bland. Ay, NOBODY is complaining about him being a boring interview.
  15. QUOTE (danman31 @ Oct 11, 2011 -> 08:42 PM) Finally something good from the AFL. It was a lot of blah for the Sox prospects. Saladino isn't playing very much. Ya, what the hell? The one guy I was looking forward to following in all of this isn't play a lot.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Oct 11, 2011 -> 09:24 PM) You think so? I thought last weeks episode was better. You and I seem to enjoy the exact same comedies, we just like completely different episodes, ha.
  17. The guy is a great gm people. He's made bad moves just like every general manager but he's one of the best in the game. Huge get for the Cubs. EDIT: I'm actually also very interested to see what compensation Boston is going to get for him. If we could get 2 decent prospects for a not so great manager then you'd think the price for a top end gm would be pretty steep.

    Best Tosh in a while.
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 11, 2011 -> 04:15 PM) I honestly don't understand why people think that is so insane. I think it's insane that that practice went extinct. But I see no reason to believe Robin would be any better today than had he started managing and playing his last two years, ditto girardi. There's enough to worry about as a hitter yet alone having to think about making managerial moves in game.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 11, 2011 -> 10:16 AM) Loved it. Would have liked to see more Hulk smashing, so i am guessing it is being withheld for a reason Anyone got a link?
  21. Between Frasor being thought of as a starter and his name being botched horribly, I don't think I can handle him on the team anymore.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 10, 2011 -> 10:52 PM) Bill Simmons always says this, and it's so true....thousands of teenagers who play Madden are better at managing the clock and score in late game situations than NFL coaches. I'll never understand why coaches don't kick the fg in that situation but NONE of them do, it makes no f'n sense to me. Side note, Calvin Johnson is a joy to watch. Poor Bears fans have to deal with the best player in football and the best wr in football in their division for a long time to come.
  23. I can't stand Sheamus or Cena most of the time but at least the first 30 minutes or so of raw was fresh and Punk on commentary is always gold. The last bit once again pissed me off, there better be a Punk swerve in here somewhere because this whole Punk-HHH teaming together thing makes 0 sense. Oh and once again ADR and Cena will be the most boring title feud ever, hot garbage.
  24. Actually, if we're going into rebuilding mode, trading PK right now makes a hell of a lot of sense. And if we can find a taker for AJP then trade him.
