Even being at home, this seems like the type of game where the Bulls have one of their let downs, hopefully they don't let that happen.

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Mar 7, 2011 -> 05:44 PM) Got my basketball wish today with Pat Knight fired. Hopefully you other guys will get your wishes soon as well. I'm becoming nervous that I wont get mine. Anyways, very loud atmosphere at the CAA title game. Pretty cool.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Mar 7, 2011 -> 04:19 PM) Just tell them that if their kid isn't good enough then they should put in extra effort outside of practice and games to improve. I try to be nice about it as I have a great group of kids and I certainly don't want to make any of them feel bad. That being said, everyone gets a good amount of time no matter what, the only real difference in playing time is the top 3 players on my team play most of the 4th quarter where as some of the weaker kids will only play 2 or 3 minutes in said quarter. I understand that all parents would like to see their kids in at the end of games but just as they think it's unfair that they don't play at the end of the 4th, it'd be just as unfair to my better kids if we weren't trying to win games.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 7, 2011 -> 04:26 PM) My big issue with the bolded is what's going on in the big east right now. It seems that the media loves to hype the big east because of how "competitive" it is. Well, it's pretty easy to hype that when you have so many teams. If highly ranked team A beats lowly ranked team B, it's somehow an excusable loss because of how tough the conference is. I mean which would you rather have, a conference with 3-4 top 25 ranked teams that have dominated the conference, or a conference with 5-6 legit top 25 teams that have lost some games to the lower end of the conference (of course purdue losting to iowa screws up this argument, but that's just one game)? Also, why is Michigan the 4 and Illinois is the 5 in the standings? Anyone know? Didn't Illinois win the head to head? And they have identical records. I don't get it. It all depends how you look at the conferences I guess. The big east is deep for the fact that they have 11 solid teams but imo they have 0 championship contenders so it's not exactly the best conference ever as some people have made it out to be. I'm not sure what the big 10 tiebreakers are when it comes to more than 2 teams(I'd guess round robin record between all parties involved) but since there's a 4 way tie and not just two teams, head to head gets tossed out the window as the tiebreaker.

Ha, the parent complaining for the last 3 weeks or so for my basketball team has definitely hit an all time high. 2 of the 3 last weeks have been real close games so I've played my best kids for about the last 6 minutes of each of those games and apparently that's too much. Everyone gets equal playing time for the first 3 quarters but in the 4th I try to win the game and I guess some parents don't like that.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 7, 2011 -> 01:56 AM) About to watch a re-run of Breakout Kings, which aired tonight. It's from the writers of Prison Break, which is one of my alltime favorite shows, and probably the best character on the show, T-Bag, is a spin-off character in Breakout Kings. The reviews on the pilot episode have been really good, so I'm stoked. I saw it, it was solid, not great imo. Waiting for next week when Serinda Swan shows up. Never heard of her before this show but my god she is fine.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 7, 2011 -> 08:10 AM) This really isn't a bad year for Indiana. Notre Dame is having their best year in forever, Purdue has been great, plus ISU is in the dance, and Valpo has a chance at it as well. Valpo got eliminated last night.

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 07:51 PM) That's what I meant. Ill st may have been the best in the mvc the past two years but couldn't win conference tourney and rightfully were left out. Our stupid NIT year, I was convinced that Illinois State was the best team in the conference but they just couldn't get the job done. That team had a ton of freakin talent. Adding to the possible "cinderella" list, the fighting Keith Benson's can obviously give someone a run for their money assuming they win the summit tourny and I actually like this Gonzaga team for a possible sweet 16 run if they get in and get the right matchups, though they're obviously not exactly an underdog type team anymore. Other than that, I don't see many mid majors that are all that good this year but the top teams aren't exactly great either so who the f*** knows.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 08:46 PM) I think that is pretty silly to say, the playoffs are a whole new beast and that Heat team is definitely capable of beating the Bulls/Celtics in a series and it wouldn't be considered an upset in the least. As of right now, I'd say they definitely aren't the unstoppable force people were fearing going into the season though and with home court think the Bulls can definitely beat them. If they haven't figured it out yet, they're just not going to. I'm sorry but they're just not as good as everyone(myself included) thought, talent be damned in this case.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 06:40 PM) god its so nice to beat that heat team....the next shot lebron or wade miss, and don't complain about a lack of a foul call will be the first....the technical foul rule is such a double standard with those guys...wade should have been hit with multiple techs today... that said, the heat are still a VERY good team. its funny, everyone perceives them to have had a poor season thus far, while the bulls have had a great season (by most accounts), and yet only 1 game separates them in the standings. In addition the heat could have won all 3 of the games the bulls beat them in. Its foolish to assume that the bulls would automatically win a 7 game series with them if given home court advantage. The two teams are extremely evenly matched IMO. for today though, f*** lebron, wade and bosh...and GO BULLS The Heat can't beat good teams, they just can't do it. I've been saying all year(up until Friday) that they're still the best team in the league and I believed they'd win it all but by this point, it's a complete fact that they just can't beat an upper echelon team in this league. The Bulls on the other hand are 8 and 4 against the elite teams in the NBA and are only getting better at this point. Miami is obviously still a very good team but I've finally come to the conclusion that they're not a legit title contender right now, there's only 2 of them in the East and they're the Bulls and Celtics.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 05:37 PM) 82games.com or Basketball-Reference. I think they were referring to Defensive rating, which is the # of points given up per 100 possessions. Defensive Rating rates Brewer, Gibson, Boozer, Noah, and Asik very highly. All of them are giving up less than 100 points per 100 possession (which is considered extremely good). Deng, Rose, and Bogans are just over the 100 mark. A lot of these ratings are the result of the system and vary based on the position a player plays (SGs tend to have higher defensive ratings due to the fact that they score more points than other positions), but the fact that the Bulls have so many highly rated players tells you a lot about the team's defense. Well they whiffed on Boozer but put Deng into the elite category there and that's about right.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 04:28 PM) That could be true. But Haslem is a good mid-range shooter, solid rebounder and defender. Look at that Miami front-court outside of Bosh and tell me they don't miss Haslem. No, they do miss him a bit, I was exaggerating a tad BUT Miami clearly just isn't as good as many of us thought. This team is gone in the 2nd round.

Missouri St. has been horrendous in the 2nd half but just hit a big 3 to get within 1 with a little under 30 seconds left. Sycs win. Never in a million years would I have thought that InSU would be the representative this year for the Valley. God this league sucks.

So big picture here: We're a game up and 2 in the loss column on Miami for that 2 seed. Hopefully we can run away and hide with that now because if we get home court advantage against them in the playoffs, there's no way they're beating us.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 03:42 PM) Speaking of offensive plays...the Bulls were clueless on offense after they got the 6 point lead. There was one trip where everybody clustered at one spot and the clock ran down to 10 before they even started a play. Rose ended up air balling the shot. I don't know what the hell was going on, but this team was hard to watch offensively for about a whole minute down the stretch. Thank god for that foul on Mike Miller. Derrick called his own number there, he just wanted a clear out and took an ugly shot.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 02:38 PM) I agree Rose didn't get calls, but I disagree about that being the right call. You had 3 guys going for a loose ball and Miller nudged Deng if anything. He was behind him and he did exactly that, nudged him, and when running for a loose ball like that, a slight nudge can change a lot and it threw Deng off his path a bit which could have changed where the possession ended up, it was the right call imo.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 02:32 PM) I'm shocked they didn't call Noah for that bump when they called the really weak loose ball foul on the other end. I thought any contact would be whistled there. The call on Miller was the right one, prolly should've been one on Noah though as well. Too bad so sad, Rose was getting mauled all game and they weren't calling s***, so oh well.
