  1. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 10:35 PM) I also wonder if a Linebrink-for-Burrell deal is a possibility. Burrell had a terrible season last year and the Rays are looking to move him. We'd get out of Linebrink's 2011 option that way and would only be increasing our payroll by $4M in 2010 with that deal. But the Sox would have to think they could get Burrell back on track, and the Rays would have to think they could get Linebrink back on track. I like the outside the box thinking on that one. That would have never crossed my mind but that's an interesting idea. Does Pat's contract end at the end of this season?
  2. QUOTE (longshot7 @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 05:48 PM) I don't want to come across as overly critical, but this is such a ridiculous story. Teams have preliminary talks about players all the time - how is this newsworthy? Konerko would be a horrible trade for the Angels and they have no need of him. I know this is the offseason and we don't have a lot to talk about, but can we refrain from this silly trade talk? It comes off very Cub fan-like. Indeed. Who talks about potential acquisitions in the offseason? Sooooo Cub fan-like. We might as well just shut down the board until March.
  3. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 04:00 PM) I'd wager Sheets is going to Texas. It seems like the popular theory and it makes logistical sense. Didn't he sign with Texas last season and proceeded to fail his physical or did I just make that up?
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 04:02 PM) We just have to get used to the fact we are going to trade minor leaguers, our top prospects. It's OK to do that, I just wish we wouldn't hear so much about our prospects, if we're ultimately going to deal them away. It used to be you didn't hear much about prospects. Unless they are named Beckham or have Beckham like talent, we apparently will deal our top prospects. Nothing's wrong with that, but it is a shock to the system when we trade guys we hear so much about. Um, really? Anywho, if we needed to trade both Huddy and Flowers to get AGon, I'd do it in a heartbeat as long as we're shedding Pauly's contract as well. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of both Dan and Tyler(especially Hudson) but if you can add Gonzalez and give Kenny some payroll flexibility, you'd really have a shot at something special this season. Like real special.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 01:49 PM) Why do people think of Pena as a low ceiling guy? He is a guy that if he realizes his potential could be a closer for us. Will that happen, I don't know. Ya, low ceiling definitely isn't the term to use to describe Pena.
  6. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 01:41 PM) I cringe everytime we talk about Sox prospects being dealt. Why's that?
  7. QUOTE (striker62704 @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 01:32 PM) We'd have Gonzalez for 3 years. There is an option for 2012. I'm pretty sure he just has an option for 2011 not 2012.
  8. QUOTE (ozzfest @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 01:28 PM) have any of the radio stations made this report? I don't believe this source..not that I would really believe a radio rumor more... The source is legit.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 11:21 AM) I am sure nothing will be done soon if this is a three way deal. If anything does happen(please god) then you're right, it'll take a very long time to get this thing done.
  10. We don't suck. I'm happy. The end.
  11. QUOTE (RibbieRubarb @ Nov 13, 2009 -> 08:30 AM) If the past shows us anything, Jerry is willing to up the budget if Kenny says we need to do it to win. We're not talking $200 million, but another 10 is possible. Exactly. If Kenny has to add some extra salary to acquire a big bat then I'm sure Jerry will up the budget to let him do so.
  12. Since I know everyone cares so much, the first game of the MVC-MWC challenge is tonight with Bradley going to BYU. I expect the mormons to roll but I'm hoping the Valley can start this thing off with a win.
  13. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Nov 13, 2009 -> 11:59 AM) but the dollar bill thing was one of the dumbest things I have ever seen an athlete do. Why exactly?
  14. QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 13, 2009 -> 10:49 AM) I don't care what people say, that s*** he does is f***ing hilarious. ^^^
  15. QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Nov 11, 2009 -> 10:05 PM) Exactly, he had been my pick to win the whole show. Despite the fact that it was sloppy, after the second round I thought it was at least going to round 3, if not Justin's victory already. Yeup. Justin won the first round easily and the 2nd round could have went either way, I probably would have given it to Roy though. I just don't understand how anyone could have gave round 1 to Nelson.
  16. Wren got jobbed, absolutely no way he lost that fight.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 11, 2009 -> 05:51 PM) Now can you imagine someone like Kotex or Cowley doing something like this? He wouldn't be able to eat anything but papers for the rest of his life.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 11, 2009 -> 05:38 PM) I hear ya Rick. That's awesome. And I think a lot of people were in the same boat as Rick, that's awesome that he owned up to it.
  19. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Nov 8, 2009 -> 11:58 PM) Season starts tomorrow, now its real boys!!! :cheers :cheers BOUT f***IN TIME!!!!
  20. QUOTE (joeynach @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 01:31 PM) If anything you would want to move Beckham to SS and Alexi to 2B wouldnt you. No. Alexei has the tools to be an elite ss, Becks doesn't.
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 01:24 PM) I thought he was already a first-ballot lock They've actually already put him in the HoF.
  22. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 01:07 PM) BTW Kenny's comment about the DH spot possibly going unresolved until the end of the offseason makes me worry. It tells me 1) he has very limited funds, 2) it's not important enough to address immediately, 3) he's planning on waiting around until January to pick through the scraps. Wonderful. Don't take anything Kenny says about potential moves seriously.
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 01:05 PM) Coco Crisp for CF and lead-off? Then we just need a power hitting DH. Slide Rios over to Rf or LF. His career .331 obp isn't very appealing in the lead off spot.
  24. QUOTE (Wanne @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 12:17 PM) Hawk will be CRUSHED!!!! It's funny cause that too was my initial reaction.
  25. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 12:34 PM) It could be leverage too. Bingo.
