  1. QUOTE(Brian @ Dec 11, 2007 -> 08:59 PM) Justin's crush on Brian Mullins just got bigger after tonight. You guys should have seen some of the crap he was doing tonight. Mills is going to need a new set of ankles. Huge win, gotta keep this thing going now. Need to see some consistency out of this bunch but tonight they looked fantastic.
  2. The 2:37 mark is fantastic.
  3. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Dec 11, 2007 -> 01:01 PM) No clue what I want To hang out with me.
  4. QUOTE(ptatc @ Dec 11, 2007 -> 11:39 AM) Is it a flaw or just different philosophy? I haven't seen enough of Garza or Broadway to make a determination yet. Flaw. Our drafting has been pitiful for a while now. I'm actually not that big of a fan of Garza but he's already helped the Twins out big time by being the main cog to acquire Delmon Young.
  5. You need to hang around here more often, Goldy.
  6. I really don't understand why people wouldn't want Richar to be our everyday 2b. We actually have 3 guys that should be starting at a cheap cost and have a bunch of upside, lets not F this up please.
  7. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 10, 2007 -> 03:34 PM) I'd prefer to give up others, plus I don't see a big bat in the middle of the lineup as a significant need. I'm much more concerned with finding a leadoff hitter. I absolutely do not want to see Orlando Cabrera leading off. A lot of the good things that he does are not really ideal aspects for a leadoff hitter (but they are for a #2 hitter). Giving up ab's and moving runners is something he's as good as anyone at baseball at and when you are leading off that strength isn't valuable. Stat people will tell me I'm full of s***, but I know damn well that Orlando Cabrera's true value is as a #2 hitter (in fact in the right lineup I even see him as a solid #3 hitter). I can however, live with Rowand in the leadoff spot (not that I really want it) and wouldn't be opposed (as much as I like Richar) to the Sox signing Rowand for a lower in the lineup threat and than bundling Richar and prospects for a leadoff hitter who can play 2nd base (a leadoff hitter is by far what I consider the Sox #1 need). After that happens I can't say whether the rotation will be good enough, but the lineup should be very solid and complete with the hope that Jose/Javy/Buehrle pitch good (big if when it comes to Jose) and Gavin/Gio/Danks can keep the club in games (with a strong pen) that the Sox can stay in the thick of things (and than if needed eventually buy another pitcher at the trade deadline or if they aren't in it, spin off some of there vets). See, I'm much more worried about the rotation right now then I am about the offense. I pretty much agree with the rest of what you said here though, I'd love to get a legit leadoff hitter before I want another middle of the order guy, Bay just doesn't put us over the top imo and just isn't worth giving up Gio and Quentin when those two both should have good value elsewhere if we did want to deal them. Still, the rotation scares the crap out of me, between Floyd, Danks and Contreras, the odds of at least 1 and probably 2 of them having crappy years are pretty high imo. I'd love to use Gio in some type of package to bring in another starter, I don't see that happening but it's what I want to see.
  8. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 10, 2007 -> 03:27 PM) Well if the Sox wanted to sell sweeney (something that I don't think is too wise, considering I think Sweeney's value is lower than his prospect status as he is still considered pretty young and still possesses good tools) instead of Quentin I could see the deal making more sense (since quentin is more MLB ready right now). I'd still prefer packaging someone other than Quentin but I'd make that deal in a heartbeat (Lucy isn't a starter for the Sox and never projects to be one, backup-catcher will be his role; Gio has #2-#3 stuff; Quentin or Sweeney have the ability to be good major league outfielders and the Sox get a real good major league outfielder (as long as they are confident that last seasons issues are in the past). I'm not that high on Gio or anything but for me, if we're going to give him up in a deal, we need to be getting pitching back as well. That's the reason I wouldn't do that deal.

    Films Thread

    I'm really looking forward to seeing I am Legend on Friday.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 10, 2007 -> 08:53 AM) His shot might be his greatest strength. He's a 90 pct ft shooter right now. From what I've seen from SIU so far this season, he'd be their best offensive guard. FT shooting and jump shooting are different things. I have heard contradicting points on whether Dillard is a good shooter or not from reading everything online, but I need to see him play before I jump to any conclusions. At least between him and Bocot next season, it looks like we'll have two guards who can put the ball in the bucket.
  11. Sweet, Gavin Floyd getting beat up before he throws a pitch this season.
  12. I'd be shocked if at least one of them don't fall flat on their face. Hope I'm wrong but the odds of them both being competent starters this season just aren't very high imo.
  13. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 10, 2007 -> 12:02 AM) If you want to know the difference between Ron Zook and Bruce Weber, and more noteably the direction of their programs, look at tonight's showdown between #1 Whitney Young and #5 Homewood-Floosmoor in hoops (and SIU fans, Kevin Dilliard is the truth, but back on target). The best player on the floor tonight, for either team, was none other than Illinois FOOTBALL recruit Supo Sanni (despite the fact Illinois is recruiting 3 different players on Whitney Young), who had 25 points and 15 rebounds as H-F pulled the 66-55 upset. Wish I could have seen the game, from the sounds of it Dillard just has some sick handles, needs to work on his shot though. Still haven't seen him play so that's just from what I've read.
  14. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 9, 2007 -> 10:47 PM) Seems as if the Pirates brass are after some good young pitching. Would you offer say Gio, Lucy and Quentin for Bay? No thanks.
  15. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Dec 9, 2007 -> 07:16 PM) I understand what you're saying, but "baseball experience" isn't going to help him hit the ball out of the infield. He's developed physically, and because of that and his history he's not likely to ever slug over .375. He'd have to be one really really unique baseball player to ever be anything more than a 4th OFer, or a terrible 'third' OFer. I'm in complete agreement with you about Owens, it's just not his age that bothers me.
  16. QUOTE(max power @ Dec 9, 2007 -> 06:41 PM) I disagree. Cleveland is a more well rounded and better team that I think will win more games. Agreed.
  17. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Dec 9, 2007 -> 06:52 PM) They will when they land McFadden Ya, that seems unfair. Unfortunately, that's a real possibility.
  18. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Dec 9, 2007 -> 06:45 PM) It took a September BAPIP of .400, IIRC, to raise his OBP, and his OPS was still terrible. He'll also be 27 years old on opening day. His ceiling is terribly limited, it's not even funny. I'm not high on Owens at all but I think the age thing is a little bit overblown in this particular case just because he's still young in terms of baseball experience.
  19. QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 9, 2007 -> 06:13 PM) new Oreo's packaging. Best product enhancement in years. Couldn't agree more.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 9, 2007 -> 06:35 PM) Almost certainly at least 1 of those 2 teams will either lose another game in the regular season or someone will find a way to beat them in the playoffs. You know, if you're playing the odds game, you're definitely right. I really don't think either NE or Dallas will lose in the playoffs and I finally believe that the Pats will go undefeated. The one thing that I believe could happen is that Dallas loses one of these last 3 regular season games.
  21. Obviously there is a long way to go but it seems like there is a real possibility of having an undefeated team vs. a 1 loss team in the superbowl.
  22. QUOTE(Brian @ Dec 9, 2007 -> 06:07 PM) They can't run the ball for sh*t. Can't wait for Miami to beat them, week 16.
