  1. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 2, 2007 -> 08:40 AM) And that is fine. Save for the insecure men/boys, everyone thinks it's cute. Uh oh.
  2. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 1, 2007 -> 11:51 PM) There may have been a tweak or two to the formula that I am not familiar with, but the basics of RPI are as follows. The formula consists of three parts. Your record. The record of your opponents and lastly the record of your opponents opponents. That's why the schedule you play is important. The teams on the schedule of the teams you play will have an effect on how highly you are rated. That's correct, the basic RPI formula is 1/4*(Winning Percentage) + 1/2*(Opponents' Average Winning Percentage) + 1/4*(Opponents' Opponents' Winning Percentage), that's stolen from kenpom. Also, you get more credit for a road win compared to a home win. Keith, Marquette's rpi is at 19 right now.
  3. UVa wins, Paulus got a fantastic look as time expired but couldn't nail it.
  4. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 1, 2007 -> 10:17 PM) ESPN internal memo: That's not going to cause any confusion.
  5. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Feb 1, 2007 -> 09:34 PM) Nope, you're missing the Hawks game. So I've heard.
  6. Zona about to go down again to Wash State. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Feb 1, 2007 -> 09:31 PM) Awesome, UCLA-Oregon is on a bunch of the FoxSports regional networks. God, I love having the sports pack sometimes. For once having FSN Midwest instead of CSN down here pays off.
  7. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 1, 2007 -> 07:21 PM) I'm not saying it's right, but when is the last time a school that was ranked lower than the opponent didn't rush the court? ESPN has made this a norm, and it's not going stop until something really awful happens. It happens all the time and it's ridiculous. Once again, IU was favored in this game and for people who have watched that team play over the last few weeks, it was certainly a good possibility that they would win that game. I know you didn't rush the court cause you forgot your parachute but overall I just think rushing the floor needs to stop.
  8. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Feb 1, 2007 -> 07:01 PM) Obviously agree. 25 beating a 2 at home? What was the line in that game even? I chuckled when i saw kids rushing the floor. Rushing out from under those banners...yeah, act like you've done it before and show you expected to win that game. Huge, ridiculous wins should be the only that people rush the floor for. IU was favored.
  9. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 1, 2007 -> 06:46 PM) I guess you'll have to count me as one of the "old guard" because I disagree. My personal feeling is that rushing the court is stupid PERIOD. The court should not be rushed after a big win. It should not be rushed after winning a conference championship. MAYBE after a National Championship. Maybe it's just a new thing with 18-22 year old kids and I don't get it. But I have been to a lot of great games in my life, including when I was in college, and never once was rushing the floor even a thought. But hey, that's just me, Mr. Old Guard lol I'm with ya Rex, I am not a fan of rushing the court unless it's a real special occasion. For the most part it's a stupid thing to do. People rushing the court for basically everything now a days and the overrated chant are my two sports pet peeves.
  10. From an interview I heard with Oden about a week ago, it sounded to me like he'd eventually decide to leave after this season.
  11. Zags about to knock of Stanford, really surprised to see this.
  12. QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 1, 2007 -> 12:02 AM) I don't get it. Good wins vs Top 25 teams in Alabama, Maryland, and West Virginia. Solid wins vs tough conference teams in Syracuse, Villanova, and Louisville. Three of four losses vs quality opponents... Top 20 in coaches and media poll... Yet N.D. is only a 7 seed in that bracket. Negatively biased perhaps? You listed a lot of wins against bubble teams. Don't forget that most of those W's came with McAlarney, still got to see how that whole situation works out. As far as polls, they mean absolutely nothing to the selection committee, they're useless.
  13. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 31, 2007 -> 11:32 PM) The scouts can say whatever the hell they want, but they are dead wrong. Just like they were about Ryan Leaf, Sam Bowie, Stromile Swift, MIchael Olowokandi, etc. And wow Seth Davis is an idiot. POY is once again a 2 horse race, this time between Durant and Tucker. As for Durant, I'd say he's the best college player since Glenn Robinson at Purdue, at least based on waht i've seen. Scouts also like defense(ok, well maybe they dont in the NBA). Look, Durant is a special, special talent but Oden is as good of a center potentially as there has been in years. Durant is far ahead of Oden right now in offensive ability but he's not even close to being the game changer defensively that Greg is. I like Durant but if I have the first pick, Oden is still a no brainer to me.
  14. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jan 31, 2007 -> 10:45 PM) Durant is godly. Jimmy Dykes makes me want to stick acid chemicals in my ears. He was comparing James Jordan or whatever little eastern school to Michael Jordan.He likes to hear himself talk and he is wrong all the time. Wiscy moves down. Now onto Kansas hostin ATM at the phog. I assume you mean Jared Jordan. Obviously he's not MJ as no one is but JJ can play, he is a fantastic college player.
  15. QUOTE(Brian @ Jan 31, 2007 -> 08:57 PM) In the biggest game of the night by far , SIU beat Indiana State 61-48. Falker had 19 pts and 14 boards. Beast. Unstoppable. EDIT: Glad to hear IU won as well, congrats Hoosiers.

  17. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jan 31, 2007 -> 02:18 AM) I have a cat with one of those names too, I didn't name it though so I'm safe.
  18. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jan 31, 2007 -> 01:53 AM) So do I have to rename my cat, or shoot it? Eat it.
  19. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 30, 2007 -> 11:08 PM) ESPN is pushing oden so hard im sure thats a huge reason why the Wisco game isnt on. That probably is the reason, but it's still ridiculous. I'd be real pissed off if we didn't have a game tomorrow.
  20. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jan 30, 2007 -> 11:01 PM) What idiots are doing that?? Don't get me wrong, I would love for IU to kick the Badgers ass, but I am not about to predict it. I'll take a 5-point win (any less and it will be too damned nerve-wracking). In all reality, I just hope IU comes out and plays well as they have in recent home games and gives Wisky all they want. A win is certainly within the realm of possibility. I'll predict an IU win. I think Wiscy is a fantastic team but IU is pretty darn good as well and at AH, IU wins a close one tomorrow.
  21. QUOTE(ptatc @ Jan 30, 2007 -> 04:10 PM) Anyone getting up and leaving a row in the middle of an at bat shall be tarred and feathered with a Cub Logo How about beaten to death?
  22. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jan 30, 2007 -> 10:28 PM) Just noticed I wont even be getting the game tomorrow lol. Not sure why OSU v Purdue or UNC v Miami are better games either Doesn't effect me cause I'll be at the SIU game anyways, but that's absolutely ridiculous.
