Jamar Smith charged with felony DUI and failure to report accident
Jesus christ people, they're 19 years old, this isn't on Bruce, sorry. These guys can make their own decisions, BW can't be on them 24/7 and he's not their daddy. I think it's to the point where everyone wants to blame everything on Bruce. This is all on Jamar.

HD TV Question
QUOTE(redandwhite @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 11:48 PM) My friend works at Best Buy and can get me a solid deal on a TV, something I've needed for years now and am thinking about splurging on knowing that this window of opportunity will close unless I take advantage of it now. Looking tonight, I picked out two TV's that I absolutely loved. Toshiba Sony The Toshiba is currently on sale for $799.99 marked down from $999.99; He can get it down to $599.99. The Sony is currently on sale for $1299.99 marked down from $1499.99; He can get it down to $999.99. At first glance, I'm thinking "man, you can't beat that Toshiba, it's only $600 bucks!" but then I take a double take and realize "man, that Sony is much bigger and I'm getting a third of the price knocked off from the original price. You can't beat that Sony!" What do you do, I ask. What do you do? Buy yourself one and buy me one. Problem solved?

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Feb 21, 2007 -> 12:09 AM) KU will get a crack at Texas to close out the big 12 season. Also if they advance further than A&M they get it. KU had a good out of conference schedule, and got good wins over Florida, BC, South Carolina, and USC. THe RPI is not taht important outside of ESPN. It is a tool that is used. No, it's not the most important thing in the world, HOWEVER it is definitely important, especially when it comes to 1 seeds. Since 1999, there has been one whole team outside the rpi top 10 that got a one seed and a whole 2 outside the rpi top 7 that got a one seed. There have also been 0 outside the rpi top 15 to get a 1 seed, so Kansas is going to have to get that rpi up a bit. I'm not taking a shot at Kansas here at all but I just can't see them getting a one seed this year.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 11:51 PM) Kansas has played there best basketball down the stretch where teams like North Carolina, Wisconsin, and Florida have not. If the season ends today, I think they get a number one seed. I doubt it. Wisconsin, UNC, UCLA, Pitt, Florida and OSU all have better rpi's, more top 50 wins and have at least the same 'last 10' record. Kansas is a 2 right now, and I really don't see them getting out of that spot.

Chief Illiniwek.....HE GONE!!!
QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 02:31 PM) Can someone please explain to me how Chief Illiniwek is offensive to an extinct tribe of Native Americans? If he went out hammered and dealt blackjack at center court, wouldn't that be more stereotypical and offensive? Illinois is not the Redskins, Indians, Savages, Braves. They are the Illini, the same as the Seminoles, and the like. Hell, just to prove a point, the Irish Illini in favor of the Chief should start b****ing about Fighting Irish. Maybe get that changed, I'm not of Irish decent, but if White Americans can b**** and pull weight in how offensive the Chief is to Native Americans, shouldn't I, a non-Irish American be able to say how offensive that damn Leprechaun is? Or the fact that the Irish are portrayed as green wearing, fighting drunks? Political Correctness to the extreme like this is ruining America. I completely agree with this.

Summer Movies 2007
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 10:37 AM) Wow, you're honestly one of the first person I've seen/heard who didn't like Sin City. I loved that movie... I wasn't a fan of Sin City either, but most people did love it.

QUOTE(Felix @ Feb 19, 2007 -> 11:29 AM) We're better than you at hockey... and football!!!!1 lol. As someone who watches Tollackson in person on just about a weekly basis, and has for the majority of the year, let me just say that he's not "a pretty darn good big man." He has his moments on offense (ripped Iowa apart), but the majority of the time he's a bumbly handed guy who can't rebound worth a lick. Then again, no one on this team can rebound, so in comparison, he looks okay. I'd also like to say that Tollackson didn't start against OSU for the simple reason that he can't really do anything to other big men. You guys definitely are, so you got me there, just this year in basketball you guys stink, that's where that comment came from. As for Tollackson, he's a big man who can score. That's why I threw him out there.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 18, 2007 -> 04:44 AM) Kjust checking. Does it make you nervous to go against teams in the big ten who have 7 footers who can basically dominate the paint. I mean, it seemed to me like the thing missing in that game was a post player game, as good as SIU appears to be in that conference, I would really wonder what they would do against a Wisco, or an OSU with the height they will have in the tourney. To be honest, not really. Like I said, both our big are small height wise but both of them are really strong and really athletic so they'll be able to hold their own. We actually do have a real good post scorer in Falker, unfortunately he was in foul trouble all game, and we went completely small with another guard because of Butler's lack of size, that's not something we'd do against a bigger team, so you didn't exactly see our biggest team out there either. We've faced two big ten teams so far this season(if Minnesota counts) and we did a pretty good job against DJ and Tollackson who are both pretty darn good big men. Now, obviously everyone is going to be worried about a Greg Oden if it got to that point but our bigs can hold their own even against taller competition.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 17, 2007 -> 09:09 PM) They are starting to get some of the bigger kids nowadays though. The Salukis 5 year run into the tournament has really given SIU better recruits. When they went to the sweet 16 in 2002 they were a much smaller team. Rolen Roberts was the center at 6' 6" Did you get a chance to watch our game today, my friend?

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 17, 2007 -> 07:32 PM) now i havent seen much of SIU or Butler, but are both teams small or was it just the angle? Ya, both teams are small. Our bigs are strong and athletic though and they can keep up with bigger bigs because of that, but height wise we're definitely limited.

I don't know how he pulled that off. This may sound mean, but I mean it as a compliment: the atmosphere is like that of a sectional final or supersectional high school playoff game. Slightly smaller gym, crowd is really into it, student section knows it's the biggest home game of the year, it's good stuff. I wasn't lying to you guys. Very, very good game between two very good basketball teams. I'm so damn happy that we found a way to win that one.

Buehrle turned down multi-year offer from the Sox
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 17, 2007 -> 01:59 AM) let it play out. I don't think the Sox and Buehrle are done negotiating yet. Eh, I'm sure they're not done negotiating and it's not this article that has made me think that he's done here. I just can't see him coming back, I'm hope I'm wrong.
