What do you think of this year's Marlins?
Rowand44 replied to MarlinFan84's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(MarlinFan84 @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 04:02 AM) BTW...I've always heard of Olivo's strong arm, but none of you ever mentioned that he was so horrible in every other aspect of defense from behind the plate. Cant block balls in the dirt, cant catch the ball, cant block the plate. Very true. -
He's bad.

QUOTE(beck72 @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 06:08 PM) The key is, who would be more valuable to the current and future white sox, BMac or Crawford? IMO, Crawford would be. While BMac is a nice arm, he's not a #1 or a #2 [if BMac threw 95 mph then he could be]. I'm sorry, but you can't just say he's not a number 1 or number 2 starter just because he doesn't throw 95.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 06:47 PM) Having a live Keeper leauge football draft tonight at my buddies house, all 12 of us are doing it in person. Can't wait. I did that last year and our draft for this season is on monday. It was a ton of fun.

Pretty solid.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 02:16 AM) -Sign Kerry Wood to an incentive laden deal. I honestly have no problem with this as long as we'd only use him out of the bullpen.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 04:18 PM) Well, he had a better season last year than any before that, and now he has Thome in the lineup. That helps. His numbers from 03-05 were pretty consistant.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 04:16 PM) Well, I think part of the reason Crede is having such a monster year is because he's yet to sign a contract extension. I know he's said that he won't let Boras dictate whether he stays or goes, but he's still a Boras client. Those guys seem to have their best years right before signing a contract. Then why didn't he do this last season?

Happy bdays

Is someone really arguing that JD's option won't be picked up for next season?

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 01:51 AM) After about 3 our list is toast. Fields, Broadway, Sweeney in that order I assume.

Just use Brandon McCarthy and Brian Anderson.

A group of my close friends and I are starting to plan a cruise for winter break and it'll be my first one, so I really don't know where to start in planning this all. Basically I'd like to know: What's the best cruise line to go through? What should I expect to pay for the cruise/airfare? And to go along with that, where's the best place to find a cheap one? Should we book the cruise and airfare seperately or together? And any thing else you guys know would be much appreciated. Thanks for the help in advance

QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 10:22 PM) Do you save Jenks for another nite and keep Riske in with the 3 run lead? Or do you go with Jenks? I say it's a save situation, go with Jenks. If they tack on another run, go with Riske if he's still available. Robert.

Tough play but one that needs to be made. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 07:25 PM) Where is this from? DJ.

I hate you, Kalapse.
-
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 06:26 PM) now we can't hit Santana or Liriano. Oh well. How do you know this? He has pitched 3 whole innings against us.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 06:12 PM) If it came down to Podsednik and Fields as my 2 leadoff options next season, I don't think I'd mind seeing Fields there. I think I would mind seeing Sweeney there right now, as Fields' numbers fit that spot a little better, if his numbers translate. Fields also has quite a few more steals than Sweeney (19/24 for Josh, 5/11 for Ryan this season). Having Fields lead off would be pretty freakin ugly imo. If he plays next season, I'd expect him to have an obp of about .330 with at least 180 k's. Josh will hit for some power right away if he gets up here, but I expect himt to have a rougher start than BA did, I really do.

QUOTE(zygoat @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 04:35 PM) olive perez could exel in the San Diego park (SBC i think) because the park is huge. He used to be dominant but i believe he was pissed that his team sucked. I think he will do very well wiht the padres. Petco.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 04:06 PM) Why wouldn't the White Sox take a flier on Maddux? Or the Red Sox for that matter? He was had for nothing, the Cubs payed a million bucks to do so. He's never been fond of the American League, with good reason, but its his last run at a Series. There were far too many salary dumps, its a shame that both the White Sox and Red Sox (two big market teams) didn't act on it. Maddux would get absolutely hammered in the al, era of over 5.5 with ease in this league.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) However, unless we were getting Schdmit or Oswalt none of these deals really made sense because we would only go as far as our pitching staff. It's that simple.

QUOTE(Reddy @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 03:25 PM) Alfonso Soriano-OF-Nationals Jul. 31 - 4:23 pm et According to CBS.SportsLine.com's Scott Miller, Alfonso Soriano won't be traded. per roto AJ Burnett all over again.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) I don't think he's very good, but when there were rumors of KW's interest a couple months ago, if you read some of the posts, you would have thought his bust has already been made for Cooperstown. Kind of like now when some are saying this was a good trade and some saying it was a bad one?

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 03:20 PM) Has their been an official announcement that we made no trades yet? Nope. Not yet.

QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 03:18 PM) Brady Clark sucks. Why is everyone so high on him? He's actually a very solid player. The Brewers really have no room for him anymore and it would be nice to have an actual cf back up BA instead of Rob, who is obviously a good player but is not a cf.
