Hawk reducing games in 2017 - offers to step away from PBP after 2017
QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 17, 2017 -> 07:56 AM) Entertaining. He tries to explain to fans why something is happening on the field. Too many of the broadcasters that use stats instead of examples try to educate fans on numbers behind the game instead of the game. Personally, and I know I'm old and in the minority, but I enjoy hearing about comparisons of player style and approaches to the game. Granted, Hawk goes overboard but I like it better than the dry professionalism in an entertainment industry. Like 70 percent of him at this point is dead air. Obviously everyone is entitled to their opinion but I don't find him entertaining at all at this point.

Bracket Challenge
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 16, 2017 -> 01:18 PM) So far, it would appear that choosing Winthrop as an upset team was a mistake. I started the day off 0-2 with a sweet 16 team gone. That's how you do it!!!

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 16, 2017 -> 01:41 PM) True, but lotta people dream about being the coach of UCLA. Definitely but the connection is there. I obviously have no clue if he'll go there or not but if the money is around the same there's plenty of people who would coach at their alma mater above any other school.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Mar 16, 2017 -> 01:20 PM) Or, seeing what was happening, they felt compelled to make a move before someone they wanted went elsewhere. I get Indiana has the name, but what is their roster/recruiting outlook? The Alford connection seems weak. Yeah, he's got the connection, but he's at a blue blood program with great players and has a great recruiting class next year. Why on earth leave that for Indiana and a semi-rebuild? It's his alma mater. Is there anyone out there who wouldn't dream about coaching their alma mater?

QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Mar 16, 2017 -> 11:53 AM) I'm actively rooting for Alford at this point. Let IU have a guy that doesn't overlap with the Illinois search. I'm very happy to see a stacked IU team with Kris Wilkes added in exchange for them not screwing up the Illinois search... Almost every name that has been "connected" with Illinois so far I'd rather have than Alford. Obviously who knows how much truth there are to these rumors but that's my opinion on that.

QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Mar 16, 2017 -> 11:23 AM) Crean fired. Don't like that from the Illinois side of things. I like how they waited until exactly 11:15 for the press release ha.

Charlie Tilson Injured
QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 13, 2017 -> 01:15 PM) I don't doubt your knowledge of the injury, but he hasn't played a baseball game in over 7 months. If it's going to take a few more weeks, then he's not ready for a major league season. He needs to play AAA baseball to rehab, and if he's ready, then bring him back. It's not like he's an established major league player. In this season for the White Sox, what's the difference with him rehabbing in AAA or just playing in the majors? I don't really care either way but I don't see too much of a difference.

On the Marshall front, it's at least worth noting that the Shockers have everyone coming back next year. And with the way they improved in the 2nd half of the season, they're going to be pretty special next season.

He just has such a great situation at Wichita. That said, the committee hasn't really respected them at all the last few years so maybe that'll make him want to move at some point. I guess we'll see.

QUOTE (gatnom @ Mar 13, 2017 -> 10:47 AM) I believe he actually makes more than double that, due to the Koch brothers. He makes 3.3. I'll be the first to admit I'm wrong if he goes to Illinois but I don't see it. But I've been wrong in this thread once or 428483928492 billion times.

Wichita 8th overall in Kenpom and 11th in Sagarin and a 10 seed. Kinda sucks for everyone including Wichita, Dayton and Kentucky.

You obviously shoot high if you're Illinois and I don't blame you for wanting him but Marshall isn't going there.

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 02:38 PM) I really like that move by Cleveland. They have like a billion dollars in cap space and just bought themselves a 2nd rd pick. Why the hell not?
