Seat Sale Proceeds To Fund Future Renovations
sayitaintso replied to Wealz's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Wealz @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 07:14 PM) Any guesses about what those future renovations might be? Perhaps brick work to cover the gray concrete along the UD? Better out of town scoreboard? They should put brick on the walls of the bullpen. It would look so much better than the gray wall. -
Seat Sale Proceeds To Fund Future Renovations

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 01:29 AM) It's not even the board so much as it's the guy/guys working it. It's updated about every 1.5 innings, and every game is updated at the same time. They also fail to change pitchers a lot, which led me and my friends to think Morris was throwing in the 11th inning in LA once. It's downright pathetic. I heard from somewhere that they are fixing something with the out of town scoreboard or just getting a new one. This is just what i had heard a couple of months ago so this is pure speculation. -
Twins agree to terms with Tony Batista
sayitaintso replied to Pierzynski 12's topic in The Diamond Club
Tony Batista - 3B - Twins Tony Batista's one-year deal with the Twins is worth $1.25 million, but it isn't guaranteed. If he's released before Opening Day, he would get only 30 or 45 days of termination pay. On top of the $1.25 million, he can earn $100,000 for 400 plate appearances, $125,000 for 450, 475 and 525, and $150,000 for 550. Batista is expected to compete for the starting job at third base. QUOTE(heirdog @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 02:19 PM) I wasn't on the board at the time of EricChaveztalk.com so I want to get my taste now Oh you don't know what you missed out on then. Those were some good times.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 10:19 AM) My thoughts are perfectly expressed by this week's South Park. Stan: Dad, you don't have a disease! Just stop drinking! Cancer is a disease! What an episode. That was a great episode.

QUOTE(heirdog @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 01:06 PM) Isn't Jordan Danks (the one we drafted this past year) a center fielder? If so, I hope it doesn't make "for a lot of Ks." I know his brother John is a pitcher, so that makes sense from that point. But the other part of that i don't get.

QUOTE(spiderman @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 03:33 PM) After skimming through all the fun trade scenarios, whether it's trading Garland (and others) for Blalock, Tejada, Crawford, etc, would you be happy if Kenny Williams trades Garland for a good prospect or two ? I know the minor league system is one reason we were able to get Thome, and Vazquez, but I also want to repeat next season. I'd rather have Garland, and McCarthy out of the bullpen (as insurance in case of injury) then have the minor league system get reloaded (potentially). What say you ? If he won't resign and is for sure going to test the FA market next season, I wouldn't mind trading him for something so that we don't completly lose out on something unless he becomes one of the players that gets us a draft pick if he goes somewhere else.
-
QUOTE(BFirebird @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) I agree with this assessment...but with Kenny you never know. I have a good feeling that he is not done yet. The Vazquez deal puts pressure on Contreras and Jon to strike a new deal before the offseason ends. Out of those two, i would say Jose is the most likely to sign to a new deal.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 12:10 PM) Report: Dodgers sign 3B Mueller http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AoUl...ov=st&type=lgns That was sort of smart for Mueller if he was trying to get more money from LA, even though he is taking less to go there.

QUOTE(SS Gload @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 03:58 PM) Carl Crawford would be awesome, but doesn't anyone want to see what brian anderson can do? If infact we do find a way to make a trade for crawford, is there any chance vazquez is used? I've heard that the d-rays have interest in him and he would be close to puerto rico. It would seem to make sense, but does anyone know if he has a trade clause in his contract because i'm pretty sure if he has one he would block a trade to the D-rays unless he really wanted to be that close to Puerto Rico.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 04:08 PM) Obviously, the bullpen is running a buit thin now so KW is going to have to get someone to fill Viz/Marte/El Duque's position in the pen. Dotel sticks out in my mind. Alan Embree seems to be the only "decent" LH available. Hammond is there. Hasegawa is there. Danny Graves, Buddy Groom, Matt Herges, Steve Karsay, Kas Ishii, Matt Mantei, Braden Looper, Terry Mulholland, Ramior Mendoza, Jeff Nelson, Mike Stanton, and Kelly Wunsch are all available. But KW might keep it in thwe organization and bring uo Munoz or Baj or Diaz. Thoughts? Assuming that Bmac stays up, he would just take vizcainos spot in the pen so i would say thats an upgrade right there, and Vazquez takes over the last starters spot. So we just need a replacement for marte.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 03:06 PM) did you know that Barkleys wife is white? http://espn.go.com/classic/s/add_barkley_charles.html sounds like a pretty racist guy to me to be marrying a person of another race :headshake Maybe that person meant he was rascist like Richard Pryor was, he called his wife white honky b****.

QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 03:37 PM) GARLAND AND URIBE FOR TEJADA IS PERFECT FOR BOTH TEAMS. NEXT YEAR THE BOTH OF THEM MAKE ALMOST THE SAME MONEY AS TEJADA. THE O'S WOULD OVERPAY TO KEEP GARLAND LONG TERM. TEJADA IS ONE OF THE BEST PLAYERS IN THE GAME. HE IS EXACTLY WHAT THE SOX NEED. THE SOX WOULD BE STUPID TO TRADE McCARTHY. HE "MIGHT" BE OUR BEST STARTING PITCHER RIGHT NOW AND HE WILL BE CHEAP FOR YEARS ! CAPS LOCK alert! You do know you can turn it off right?

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 03:34 PM) Miguel Tejada is a f***in stud but trading Brandon is just a no no for me and even for Miggy. If we can somehow put together a package with Garland and Uribe and make it work then I'd be all for it. I agree with you, Bmac should be off limits in this deal IMO.

QUOTE(hi8is @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 04:47 AM) Everything imaginable, and many things not imaginable, can be considered sexy by humans. However, the female southern pine beetle exudes a pheromone called frontalin in her flatus that not only serves to attract males but acts as a general gathering call to both males and females of her species. Her farts are an invitation to an orgy. Unfortunately for her, her frontalin-laden farts also attract predators. Thanks for the info!

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 06:32 AM) This must mean that Garland or Count is going to be traded for something. I just can't see how McCarthy can spend a full year in AAA after what he did in the majors. Wouldn't he just be moved to the pen since vizcaino would be gone? Vazquez would take el duque's spot and move into the rotation, and bmac would move into the pen to replace viz.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) full of s***? 25 x 52 = 1300 per year... take that at 3.5 years thats only $4,550. now, that means youve already dabbled into over 450 dollars worth above, and now plan on blowing another 450. now, i doubt as a 19 year old working at wac arnold's or wherever it may be, you can afford to spend that much. admit it. you're full of s***. its ok. Does it really matter?

Bill Mueller - 3B - Red Sox The Pirates could be closing in on a three-year, $13.5 million contract with Bill Mueller. "It looks like something is going to happen soon," a source close to the negotiations told the Beaver County Times. "I'd say it will happen this week and it's looking pretty good for the Pirates."
