  1. QUOTE (Texsox @ Oct 17, 2008 -> 12:33 PM) Yeah, maybe 25 was too young. But at some point in most guy's lives, they look silly wearing a jersey. Maybe it's while taking the grand kids to the zoo, maybe while meeting with their attorney about retirement planning, maybe at the PTA meeting, or their kids music recital. But it does happen. There is a time and place for everything. Obviously I would dress for the occasion. But, I could still picture myself at the age of 75, at a sports bar wearing my old beaten Thomas Jersey.
  2. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Oct 17, 2008 -> 12:05 PM) I love this whole "Manny never fails when it matters" line of argument. Granted the source is a little out of date, but through 2005 Manny had a career playoff batting line of .257/.348/.492/.840. That looks AWFULLY similar to that of one Alex Rodriguez. People seem to forget that the Indians made the playoffs 5 times with Manny on the roster without winning the big one. sounds like you're cherry picking stats. Through 2005? Well we are in 2008.
  3. QUOTE (almagest @ Oct 17, 2008 -> 11:45 AM) So when has Manny Ramirez not produced? Exactly. Someone please answer this for me too.
  4. QUOTE (Texsox @ Oct 17, 2008 -> 11:06 AM) Very nice. IMHO someone over the age of 25 or so looks stupid most of the time wearing one, but it does look pretty cool. sucks to be me then. Not that I wear them most of the time, but I do sometimes. I guess I live my life not caring about what other people think.
  5. QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 17, 2008 -> 01:13 AM) None of you mentioned Randy Moss, you should probably be shot. There's a forgotten name if I ever heard one. I agree.
  6. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Oct 17, 2008 -> 12:30 AM) Spend some time in New England and you will learn to hate them. I got to spend 3 weeks in August in that area of the country. I've been there twice. Everyone there was polite. Even at fenway when I was wearing my sox jersey. No heckling, nothing.
  7. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 16, 2008 -> 10:36 PM) Terrible. (I do put Fitz is another tier than Boldin. Fitz really is a freak of nature, and is in a class all his own. Andre Johnson probably should be on the same level, but has been held back a lot of his career. Fitz is my fav receiver in the NFL by far. All the talent in the world and NOT a big mouth is refreshing.
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 16, 2008 -> 09:57 PM) Are you kidding me. Williams is a borderline elite receiver. He has amazing physical abilities and has put up great numbers when healthy in the NFL. And he's done it while on the freaking Lions. If he's not even good than I don't even want to know your definition of good. He'd be the best WR the Bears ever had (EVER). agreed
  9. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 16, 2008 -> 09:58 PM) You probably left out the best WR in the game now in Larry Fitz, unless he doesn't fit your standards. Boldin sucks too I hear
  10. I have gone from supporting Ron Paul, to now deciding to vote for Obama since Paul withdrew . But, the debates had little to do with it. I already knew Obama's stance on the issues, how anyone delivers their message has little to do on my Vote.
  11. I'd be more comfortable with Joe the Plumber in office than Sarah Palin. At least he's clearing pipes, not laying them down.
  12. yes http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3644615
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 04:31 PM) Sure, he's a tallish, strong WR, but he drops tons of passes. He's only had one 1000 yard season in 5 seasons, including 1 or 2 years of less then 700 yards. What has he done to prove he's good? What is your definition of good? Are you getting confused with "elite"!? It is not even worth replying to your posts.
  14. Not long ago I would have said Arod. I have to go Manny. If only Jim,Javy and Jose could come off the books.
  15. So is it like an Irish Boy Band? jk
  16. QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 09:52 PM) 35 - 14 - 56 is probably right, depending on how Konerko ends his career. If Paulie plays '09 and '10 with the Sox and then re-signs to DH a few more years, it's a shoo-in. But I'm not sure that if he's traded before '09 or mid-'09 his number goes up. Buehrle is something of a no-brainer if he finishes out his contract on the South Side and says nice things if he leaves. He'll have something like 150 wins, etc. I think he probably re-signs after this 4-year deal and gets up to 200 wins in a Sox uniform. I see KW and Jerry being fairly loyal to Buehrle. 13 probably gets retired if there is another WS in his tenure. But given that he'll probably end poorly on the South Side (he'll get fired after some blow up and talk smack about Jerry and KW), I could see him being exiled for several years. 23 isn't going to happen. 20 won't happen either because I have this feeling that he'll either be too injured or will be too expensive for the Sox to keep. I disagree. Ozzie is one of the best things to happen to this franchise. White Sox baseball was as bland as it gets before he stepped in. 2005 gets his # retired, guaranteed.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 01:52 PM) Roy Williams showed during their game with the Bears that he is a total and complete asshole. His behavior on the sidelines was unbelieveable. That team has some serious personalities in that locker room. Him and TO will be arguing over passes constantly. TO was the first guy to call Roy Williams after the trade. TO was described to be "ecstatic". So, I won't be too quick to judge on their chemistry.
  18. come on people! Join! at least 1 more person! 3 would be awesome though!
  19. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 11:42 AM) Well which CB's are there available for trade? Jenkins was a 1st rounder who has good size and played in both zone and man to man in college. My guess is by the end of the season, he'll be our version of Charles Tillman. Scandrick should make for a good nickel back also. But the Cowboys definitely need to find a good FS who can defende against the pass. Roy Williams (the safety) is a goner after the season anyways. Not sure who was available. But, with Jerry Jones willing to overpay, I'm sure someone could have been had. The NFL deadline is pretty tough. Too many teams feel they are still in it. (aside from the Chiefs and the Lions) . Maybe the move works out for 2008. Just saying it does not help on the defensive side of the ball. Hope you don't run into Steve Smith or the Fitzgerald/Boldin combo in the playoffs.
  20. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 11:10 AM) I'd call Crayton a decent #3, and Austin is progressing, but Owens and Williams will be argubly the best WR combo for any team in the game. As for the CB's, I'd rather give Jenkins and Scandrick the rookies, all the playing time in the world until Newman gets healthy. They'll progress and get better, because Anthony Henry is basically done (Steve Breaston took him to school on the weekend), while Pacman I doubt will be back. And yeah I think we overpaid for Williams, but Jerry Jones is basically desperate for a superbowl. 1 step at a time. Win a playoff game 1st. Then he should have overpaid for a CB or 2. Roy Williams seems more like a move for the future (eventual replacement for TO). In the present time, you need Defense. Your secondary is in shambles (just like the Bears secondary).
  21. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 02:38 AM) Should be Ventura and Thomas. Ventura was a face of the franchise for nearly a decade and would have been the face had he played in any other era. I don't think Robin gets the nod over a World Series MVP who is approaching similar careers stats with the White Sox in a fraction of the time.
  22. QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 08:41 AM) Roy Williams isn't very good? Are you nuts?
  23. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 02:11 AM) Well as a Cowboys fan, this was a move that's about 5 weeks overdue...I'll wait to see how things go before I make judgments. I would think you need a CB 10x more than a WR. Crayton and Austin are fine #2 and #3 receivers.
  24. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 14, 2008 -> 08:12 AM) Why? That makes no sense. That would be like retiring #1 because Barrack Obama wore it. don't shoot the messenger http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=220294265444
