Ketchup and mustard is fine for me if I'm gonna microwave a cheap hot dog and eat it on a slice of white bread at home, but I think it's a big waste to ruin a good hot dog at a good stand or at the ballpark with ketchup, especially a Chicago-style dog. By the way, I miss Demon Dogs. 2.90 used to get me a great hot dog with mustard, relish, onions, and peppers, fries and a drink for lunch at DePaul. Probably wasn't so good for the waistline, but an affordable deal. Too bad it got closed.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 02:27 PM) The Sox won 5 straight to end the regular season last year, they then won the first 3 games in the playoffs only to lose the first game of the ALCS, so that's 8 straight. They then won another 8 straight to end the playoffs. So that's two 8 game win streaks, so yeah 16 of 17. I'm not sure the Sox have ever even won 10 straight games. Had both an 8-game and 9-game winning streak this year... -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 03:04 PM) Well then it's a stupid tradition. And I appreciate being called an idiot as well. If it's like the Clemson tradition where fans can go onto the field and talk to the players after the game, I think it's great. I had the opportunity to go to an away game at Clemson while I was at FSU, and it was pretty sweet to jump onto the field right after the game and mingle and congratulate the players. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 01:41 AM) Do you guys rush the field when Tate completes an 8 yard out route in practice, too? There's an illini football comeback in there somewhere... -

Report: Eric Gordon Not Yet Ready To Announce, Will Take Another Visit To Indiana University This Weekend Brian Stinnette September 19, 2006 Email Questions/Comments To [email protected] According to the Bloomington Herald-Times Eric Gordon (Indianapolis North Central) is not yet ready to announce a final verdict on his collegiate destination, and will be taking another visit to the campus of Indiana University this weekend. Gordon, a 6-3 shooting guard, ranks among the top Class of 2007 basketball prospects in the United States. This July, Gordon saw his recruiting soar to even higher levels while competing on the summer basketball circuit with Derrick Rose (Chicago Simeon) and MeanStreets Express. According to the report, Gordon and his family will be in town to take in the Indiana/Connecticut football game, and to visit the Bloomington campus. Last weekend, Gordon took an Unofficial Visit to the University of Illinois. Earlier this month, Gordon visited Indiana University along with Rose. Rose, a Top 5 player nationally in his own right, visited Notre Dame last weekend. Gordon tagged along when his younger brother, Evan, took an Unofficial Visit to Notre Dame two weeks ago. Gordon and Rose are entertaining the possibility of playing together. Indiana would love to pair the duo together for the 2007-08 season. Ideally, Indiana would like to have D.J. White return for 2007-08, combine him with the duo of Gordon and Rose, make a run at an NCAA title, and then send them all off to the NBA. Memphis, DePaul, UCLA and Kansas are the four other named finalists with Rose. Things can change in the world of recruiting on the drop of a dime. At one time, much chatter centered on Gordon attempting to recruit Rose to play with him at Illinois. Now the chatter centers on the Rose camp recruiting Gordon to play alongside of Derrick, who eliminated Illinois in August. Meanwhile, Illinois is in the process of re-recruiting Gordon with the hope of getting him to re-commit to their program. Bruce Weber was in Indianapolis last week for a visit with Gordon ahead of him coming to Champaign this past weekend. Mike Tisdale (Riverton) and Bill Cole (Peoria Richwoods), who are verballed to Illinois, were also in Champaign this weekend. Tisdale ranks as the #13 Class of 2007 prospect in the state of Illinois, while Cole is ranked #21 in the state of Illinois for the Class of 2007. Gordon's decision does not hinge on where Rose ultimately heads, but the consensus is that if he were to choose Indiana, then the Hoosiers would be in real, real good shape with Gordon. Weber faces a formidable recruiting opponent in Indiana head coach Kelvin Sampson, who has Ray McCallum, who played against Gordon's father in high school, and Jeff Meyer, who coached Gordon's father in college on his staff. Weber can expect to see a lot of Sampson in the coming years as Indiana has intentions of recruiting Chicago hard. Sampson already has verbals from former Chicago Westinghouse star Jamarcus Ellis (Chipola Junior College) and Brandon McGee (Chicago Crane).

I see no problem with that, agree with it, and think the ba-luvers are once again being way too sensitive and blowing it out of proportion.

QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 10:50 PM) I disagree, I think the Sox won in spite of Ozzie in 05. Agreed completely. If not for Ozzie, the team wins at least 130 games and doesn't f*** up and lose that one damn playoff game.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 10:33 PM) Damn, Rowand. I just read your sig. I feel better. College hoops is near. And SIU is gonna be garbage. I'll agree with that. It's been said before, but...thank goodness for the Bears looking so good so far so that I can turn most of my attention to them, along with lots of hope for a successful DePaul season, even though I'm probably bound for disappointment... -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 10:32 PM) This year has been a total waste for McCarthy. He was not used properly, and may cost him a successful career. I think he would be so much better off on a roster where Ozzie Guillen doesn't call the shots. Please don't let how he was used this year be the the excuse next year if McCarthy struggles... -

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 10:18 PM) If he would have managed the pitchers better, their ERAs would have been much improved. When you look back at this season, our starters were pretty good during the first 5 innings. However, Ozzie was far too patient with our starters this year. It worked last year, but that was when these guys were more fresh and had better velocity. There were so many times this year when a pitcher saw his stat line go from 6 innings, 2 runs to 6.1 innings, 5 runs. Ah, yes, putting it in the hands of our outstanding bullpen after 6 innings each game... -

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 10:12 PM) I loved the argument earlier that Ozzie knows how to handle his veterans, and that's why he doesn't throw them under the bus like he has Anderson and McCarthy. I'm sure seeing a lot of improvement by Uribe and Pods, since Ozzie supposedly knows how to motivate them. On the topic of Ozzie and his inability to motivate the guys this year, how exactly was he supposed to motivate the pitchers into not sucking ass??? I still feel that the severe underachievements of our pitchers is the main reason for our failures this year, by far... -
QUOTE(WCSox @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 03:35 PM) First it was get rid of Ozzie. Now get rid of Thome??? Ozzie and Thome had a meeting with the pitchers prior to the season and forced them to pitch poorly this year. Why wouldn't you want to get rid of them???

QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 12:40 PM) Thomas will always be a Sox?. I don't buy that. I appreciate all he did alright - up till 2006. I will always appreciate and smile at what he did - but I could care less what he does now. "Always a Sox" - yeah, hold on to that thought when you see him wearing green during his induction ceremony. SFF

Is that picture of Urlacher standing over roy williams that I saw in the trib anywhere online? I took a quick look on chicagosports.com and couldn't find it. Darn, I need to rub it in to a lions fan buddy... -
Ozzie got too much credit for last year, but the blame for this year is ridiculously overdone...

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 10:37 PM) Just because it's not easy to repeat doesn't mean it shouldn't be expected I wanted it real bad too. But with the horrendous dropoff by our pitching, my expectations turned to just hoping they could turn it around. Looks like that never happened. I also don't think this season should make you completely lose interest in following your team next year...

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 10:22 PM) Sure, there's been some great wins this year. Nothing makes a person feel better after getting their appendix removed than seeing AJP hit a 2 out, 3 run homer against the Cubs. However, I think it's safe to say this is the most disappointing 2nd half of the season I can remember. I believe it was you that said it best before...this year would have been immensely heart-breaking if we had not won a championship last year. And just to be clear, I do find this year's collapse saddening, just not at the level some people are making it out to be. It ain't easy to repeat, and the pre-season favorite usually doesn't go all the way...

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 06:27 AM) Depending on the cost of a battery, I might pick one up and see if that works. It would be a nice back up to have in an emergency. Ask them to try one of their batteries in to see if that does the trick before you spend your money. They should have extras laying around, especially if they have a repair service there.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 08:22 PM) My main defender had a ball deflect off his foot, and I went to get it, but I didn't pick it up with my hands, as there's a rule in soccer that the keeper can't grab the ball with his hands if it's passed to him. I didn't want to risk giving up a penalty kick, so I kicked the ball away. You can pick up a deflection as long as it isn't an obvious and deliberate pass. Also, I think it's an indirect free kick if you pick it up, not a penalty. -
Good thing Jose took all of his cortisone shots today...

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 08:44 AM) Maybe we should hold off on getting one for a day or two... thanks for the info. I also accidently left my previous phone in my coat pocket when I washed it but remembered to take it out as it was washing. I let it dry for about 4 or 5 days, and it worked, but only for a few minutes (the outer display also did not work anymore, which I didn't mind as long as the rest of the phone worked). I took it in to see if it could be salvaged, and a new battery is what did the trick.
