It appears that U.S. Cellular is the closest thing you'll find in America to a European football crowd. Brooks Boyer should be marketing this to Scottish emigres residing in Chi-Town. All kidding aside, hope you OK Cheat. Me smellum lawsuit?

If I missed this before, sorry again for my redundancy. I thought it was kind of funny: http://www.angelfire.com/il2/cubssuck/index.htm

Whoa, that's a steep price for a guy that is very blatantly being shopped. Lee and Borchard for Freddy would be just fine by me.

I dont see what's so surprising about any of this. Kids are more sophisticated now than they were 20 years ago. They are exposed to more "adult" things, and they're growing up faster. That being said, I think the only way you can help the situation is through comprhensive sex education. You're NOT going to reverse the process, so you just better arm kids with the correct info, so they keep themselves as safe as possible.

This news just in-- Dan Wright is not good, and Jon Rauch and Joe Borchard are overrated busts. Now back to your regularly scheduled program.

Be Good-- Go get Otis Redding's Live at the Whisky. Play the song "Can't Turn You Loose." Turn up the volume, and get ready to move.

It has nothing to do with pomposity(is this a word?). It's been debated over and over again, with my stance on this subject being, if there is a god, and it would do something lilke this, then he/she/it can f*** itself, I want no part of god's heaven, salvation, whatever. How would you explain the fate of any humans living on the western hemisphere of the planet around the time right after jesus? Was it their fault that god didn't provide them any means/resources to hear the "word?" Were ancient civilizations in South America doomed simply because they had no way of knowing what god intended? How can you follow jesus, if you weren't even aware he existed?

Hmmm, let's use "persnickety" Every time you want me to PM you, say, "Ed, it's time to get persnickety."
-
I'm not PM-ing anyone. Do you want me to PM you Steff? I will, just say the word!

OK, a question. Does this mean that there can be no salvation for Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Taoists, Buddhists, Atheists or anyone else I am forgetting? So about what, 75% of the world's population is screwed, yes? Hmmmmmmmm

I was going to respond to this, but after reading the rest of the thread, I will not. Your(Juggernaut) inability to argue without belittling other people, and your persistent refusal to concede any point to anybody who cant find a poll to back them up, is frustrating at best, and takes away all interest in debating those issues that are usually the most intriguing. You're a book-smart, undoubtably socially-challenged snob, and why anybody would waste their time arguing with you is mind-boggling. I will take solace in the fact that you and those who think like you will never win. The world is not as simple as "poll A shows situation B is caused by C 65% of the time." Never was, never will be, and you'll obviously never get it. But good luck, and keep me posted on how that crusade to get prayer in public schools is going.

Nope, I'm not scared, I initially though the survey was DONE by the CS Monitor. I misread, and that's my fault. Back to your "The world is heading down a moral sewer" theory, divorce rates have been escalating since marriage peaked around 1960. Last I checked, there was no internet from 1960 through about 1992. I think the message is obvious--marriage, which, in the form I'm sure your suggesting has only truly existed for about 150 years tops, is changing again.
-
OK, I got this from Divorce magazine: Percentage of divorces due to irreconcilable differences in 1997: 80% Since I don't think obsession over internet porn, or internet love interests fall under this category, then how can 80% of divorces be due to irreconcilable differences, if 56-62% are due to the factors you've listed?
-
Actually, it was I who discredited the CS Monitor. I'd be real interested to see the demographics behind those polled, I know the ghetto has a pretty high divorce rate, and believe me, there ain't alot of computers in Englewood. Also, since when is marriage the barometer by which we measure society's values or morals? I know lots of unmarried people(myslef included) who I consider to have very solid morals and values. Again with the attempt to show that life was so much more value-based in say 1950. It is simply not true.

Nothing says "fair and unbiased" like the Christian Science Monitor.

The Sox were one of only four teams that hadn't lost 3 games in a row. They get a pass for now--every team gets swept every now and then--but the way they're losing smacks of 2003, regardless of who the manager is.
-
Dont know what team you've been watching, but 2B ain't a big problem. A lefty bat(preferably in CF), and another starter.
-
Yep, and that's why KW has got to start thinking about breaking up the core of this team. This combination of players isn't getting it done. Call it chemistry, a correct balance of talents, whatever, but the more I see this team this year, the more I see the team from last year, and before that, etc. Solo home runs, nobody hits to the opposite field, can't move runners along, stupid baserunning mistakes. Lee, Konerko, Maggs, Thomas, Valentin, a few of these guys have got to go. Next year at least two will be gone, maybe that will be enough.

Dransfeldt.....OUT!
-
That site is wayyyyyy overrated. I played in a season last year, and while the building of your team part is really cool, the game play is stupid. None of the factors they allow you to "control" actually have any effect on things, and you can wind up with a Vince Coleman having 250 stolen bases at the end of a season. Completely unrealistic stats.

I like Moore, but I'm wary of him at the same time. He got Nike to change some of their hiring practices after ripping into Phil Knight in I think it was, "The Big One." But he also manipulates facts and exaggerates things to get his point across, and that makes me trust him less. If the subjects he covers are as bad as he claims them to be, then the truth should be plenty enough, and he shouldn't need to do that.

KW going after Freddy Garcia again...
Wong & Owens replied to RudyLawRules's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You'll probably have to give up one minor league stud hitter, in addition to Borchard, and a couple others. But I absolutely think Seattle considers this. They've made it clear that they are trying to move Garcia, they have no need for Guardado if they're going to rebuild, and they have a hitter-shortage at the minor league level. -
Crap, the link doesn't work right. Go here: http://homokaasu.org/gematriculator/ And type in www.soxtalk.com in the appropriate place.
