  1. QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 09:57 PM) I remember reading that. I don't know if it was here though. 14 years older and married her... I would've just hit and run if she was that good looking... Apparently its just understood even though they deny it, that she was his gym teacher. f***in A.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 10:34 PM) I don't see how that would make any sense...I thought about that for roughly 10 seconds. Right...there is a gaping hole at 1B though... Who was on the other team that was good?
  3. QUOTE (beck72 @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 09:14 PM) Welcome aboard. Yeah, Beckham should be the sox #1 prospect. And moving him to 3b is a good plan. Yet he won't be ready til at least 2010. Keith Law mentioned today that he thinks Beckham projects well as a SS and will be good enough to keep Alexei at 2B. He would be more valuable at SS potentially.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 10:30 PM) With Hudson's injury, there's no one on the Braves that really excites me. its not Tex is it?
  5. under the title of this thread it should read, and then gets hurt
  6. Sorry, Hester poops on Hall and Howard. You dont trade him.
  7. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 03:31 PM) Bernstein just mentioned that various outlets are reporting that KW's talks with the A's regarding a trade for Justin Duchscherer are heating up. Fields and Poreda would likely be involved. This makes me very nervous because I don't like Duch for the long term one bit. Will Carrol reported it this afternoon too. Said they are legit talks.
  8. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 04:40 PM) I was so mad we gave up Miguel Olivo in that deal. KW totally got fleeced! losing Reed pissed me off so much at the time.
  9. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 03:34 PM) Can't do it. I wan to win more than anyone this season, but not for the Sox final two bullets. Truth. The guy is going to slow down due to workload any day now and i'd hate to mortgage all we have left in the system. Poreda at worst is going to be a solid pen arm, and Fields is our starting 3B next year.
  10. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 04:04 PM) In case anyone is curious: '08: $10M '09: $14.25M '10: $15.75M Not gonna happen. Lose some salary off our book like Count, Thome, Uribe, Crede and our team is better with Halladay.
  11. Keith Law says Alexei is below averge defensively at every position he plays.
  12. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jul 17, 2008 -> 05:31 PM) UH OH. We're in trouble whenever Liriano returns, and he's anywhere NEAR pre-surgery levels. Which, admittingly, may never occur. Still no sign of our Lirano, though. Where is their Carlos Quentin?
  13. So has anyone mentioned on this board that Jarrod Saltamacchia (or whatever) married a teacher that taught at his high school while he was enrolled there? Shes 14 year older than him.
  14. QUOTE (ChiSox35 @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 01:24 AM) We don't use the term "soapdropping" (and improperly at that) after every negative thing that happens to our team. That makes us better in my book by eleventy times. What CC is doing to the NL makes me proud in a way that we had to deal with him for years. For him to leave the division and join the NLC of all other divisions, it's just a shame Johan didn't sign with the Reds at this point. Here's hoping the Crew make him an offer he can't refuse after outright winning the NLC. Its funny how a fan base that is generally characterized as being a bit gay uses the term soapdropping so liberally.
  15. In what world does trading OC in a walk year translate to another team's young starting 3B, a star in the making OF'er or a top prospect? Oh that right, xbox world.
  16. Havent seen it yet.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 11:05 PM) Owings is a better hitter than pitcher, IMO. Easily, he should swap. His arm would be nice in the OF.
  18. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 10:32 PM) If we make a trade with the Dodgers, maybe we can convince them to throw in Pablo Ozuna as a Utility guy... Seriously, though, I'd absolutely love it if we traded O-Cab for Matt Kemp. That would pretty much solidify 2/3 of our OF for the next 10 years. However, what the hell would we do with Konerko if we added another OF'er? I mean, he can't really sit on the bench, can he? I would almost be afraid to put him there b/c if he does heat up at all, that would be a huge addition to this team. No f***ing way they trade a talent like Kemp for a rent a player like OC. No f***ing chance. And Uribe for Alex Cora would be dumb as s***.
  19. Richard doesnt use his height very well, but some how his motion tricks batters. He hides the ball well and his release point is f***ed up.
  20. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 10:51 PM) IMO, we have to go atleast 5-5 on this road-trip- win 1 in Detroit, 2 in Minnesota, and 2 in KC. Although, winning 2/3 in Detroit and 3/3 in KC is possible. But we HAVE to win 2 in Minnesota at the least. Yes we do, and Im praying that the trip out of Chicago sparks Konerko, we really need production from 1B and 3B in these next few series.
  21. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 10:14 AM) Interesting stat there. So are you saying that Soxtalk posters risk White Sox losses when they criticize your posts? That is a relief. I used to think the Sox success depended on my attendance at the games, which hat I wore and to which side of my head the bill was positioned. Glad to know I am off the hook. Nope, they win based entirely on which jersey tshirt I wear when certain pitchers start.
  22. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 08:05 AM) Name me 5 other movies so far this year that are more worthy. I can think of one - Wall-E, and that's about it. Would you put the Dark Knight and Heath Ledger in the same caliber as There will be Blood and DDL?
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 10:10 AM) That is the deal I really was hoping for. It makes great sense considering Ramirez is supposed to be a terrific defensive SS and Roberts is a superior offensive player to OC, better equiped to lead off, and not bad with the glove either, and signed for an additional season. It an ideal situation, but the defensive infield would suffer a ton.
  24. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 02:58 AM) So yeah, everyone please keep telling me about how badly Paul Konerko sucks, even 3 weeks later when his average has risen 25 points, he's up to 15 homers on the season, and his OPS is up to .735. You did it to me and everyone else for Jim Thome too, even though he was a good player as of about June 1st. He sucks. His OPS is .682, he is slugging .362, this is Orlando Cabrera territory. I only saw his first two at bats last night, the first was a cookie that Paulie a few years ago would have deposited into the left field stands, but this one popped out weakly. His next at bat was another DP that luckily scored a run due to the work of his teammates. What makes you so sure he's going to improve? His numbers before the DL stint: .215 .322 .368 .691 After: .218 .321 .362 .682 1 HR since his return I even picked him up on my fantasy team thinking he was going to snap out of it, but he is showing zero signs of it turning around whatsoever. Its getting to the point where he is a bench player for this team. s***, our utility bench whipping boy is out slugging Paul.
  25. To be honest. The best player on the trade market for us right now would be DeJesus if Dye is hurt for awhile. You play him in CF and lead him off. Q goes to right and Swish to LF.
