  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 12:03 PM) She hasn't conceded yet. She'll probably at the inauguration in January claiming that she would make a better President. Its like breaking up with one of those girlfriends who just refuses to go away.
  2. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 03:38 PM) I just wanted to say that this thread is one of the best this year . Watching Alexei has been so much fun lately and Cubano you should be working for the Sox in an advisory capacity. I think you should email Kenny Williams the link to this thread. Oh and Cuban woman are some of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. ! Cafe con leche I believe is the cuban term for the ladies I like from there. Cubans have a way of determining skin color as it relates to milk and coffee, pretty awesome IMO.
  3. If anyone lives downtown, you should check out the Red Eye's specials daily, the amount of Fixed Price meals at some of the places around here are a huge bargain. Not to mention the BYOB places.
  4. QUOTE (RibbieRubarb @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 12:27 PM) My wife and I already decided we would rent our house out for the time and head on down to Disney! Unless I can score some tix to Female Beach Volleyball... Oh yeah, my loop condo will be rented out. Im just excited for the transportation improvements, and for all us sox fans out here, the southside area near the park will be COMPLETELY different due to the lakefront changes.
  5. I really hope that a miracle happens and we get it. The event would do wonders for the development in this city, especially with public transportation. Of course our real estate market would be a nice bonus.
  6. I dont understand all this speculation about him in our pen. He's insurance for injuries, nothing more.
  7. QUOTE (quickman @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 12:27 PM) As I mentioned in other threads I saw him play in the spring, he can flat out hit. He clearly stood out as a higher caliber player then his teammates. Timo-esque?
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 11:33 AM) He's got big legs. However, he dropped a decent amount of weight and actually has solid speed. That said, you could probably say there would have to be at least some concers about his weight. He's a tremendous pure hitter whose had 2 straight triple crowns in the pac 10. And we all know KW loves those ASU players, and has probably seen quite a bit of this kid.
  9. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 09:39 AM) The book on Ramirez in Tucson was he could hit any fastball and the breaking stuff would get him. Thus far he has looked to be looking all breaking balls, which he should, and fouling off the fastballs deeper in the count. This to me shows signs of a player that can be successful in the majors. The fact he has the tools and ability to play anywhere in the field is another plus. On top of all of this, he seems to have rejuventad the Count which makes him a favorite of mine. In the last few days he seems to have cut down on his swing as he gets deeper into the count, yet another bonus. Christ, I could go on all day. Im going to spitball a little on this one. I feel like in ST he wasnt as far up in the batters box as he is now. Since he is up so far I feel like he is getting to the breaking balls a bit earlier which is helping him make solid contact before they drop off the table. He has the fast hands to turn on any fastball and now his swing is beginning to stay in the zone longer which is allowing him to either make contact on breaking balls or foul them off.
  10. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 03:30 AM) I wouldnt mind doing a trade that would land us Wade and Beasley instead of Rose.... but to give up the draft pick without getting theirs to me is a no go. If we got Wade and Beasley we would be a playoff team that day, immediately. That would be a dumb move by the Heat and a brilliant move by Pax.
  11. Whats with that kid from ASU? Is he Prince-fielder fat? Thats alot of weight with that height.
  12. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 11:22 AM) Gosh, I will never forget how filthy he was in 03. 97 MPH cutter. Than it just went away. I dont recall him ever hitting 97 mph with a cutter. Either way its a decent insurance policy if one of our guys goes down with a tweak. Not to mention sometimes the young guys need some extended rest.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 10:22 PM) Jermaine Dye/Paul Konerko can hold down that role, if Swisher ever starts hitting. Lets all think in theory here. Konerko to DH, Thome to pitch hitting role. BA starts playing everyday and hits like its spring training. We are a much more versatile, quick, diverse offense than before.
  14. Seriously, Alexei is not only awesome, but he's keeping Uribe out of the lineup for a double positive.
  15. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 2, 2008 -> 10:17 PM) ive never even heard of the opposing pitcher for the padres tonight....just wow gerut? barrett? McAnulty? Even kal greene stinks...the level of competition is just unreal The cubs are so much better than every team in the NL IMO. Its just not close. They are basically an AL club playing in the NL
  16. The cubs are finally going on the road. They have played a heavy home schedule which was also heavy with the Pirates.
  17. Alexei has been great, especially since he has been given a full time role. In may he hit .295 .313 .443 .755.
  18. It wasnt like the Rays were tearing the cover off the ball. We lost to one of the best home teams in the league in extras, a walk off, and a 2-0 pitching duel. Its not like we just got blown out of Tampa.
  19. dude, your thread starting is ridiculous
  20. QUOTE (KevinM @ May 31, 2008 -> 01:03 PM) I mean in terms of value to the team. I know Ramirez is hot, but having watched both he and Uribe, I think their offensive and defensive games (in sum) are equal to one another. Huh? Not really. Alexei has been range defensively and has more tools offensively. I would say they really arent that close to the same player.
  21. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ May 31, 2008 -> 11:22 AM) There's been times where I thought he's crushed the ball but then it barely makes it to the warning track. He hasn't hit for any power this season and his HRs already went down last year. It's not an unfair assumption at this point. It pretty much is. He's slumping and we point to roids. He was a first round pick and a good player all throughout college and the minors and the majors with Oakland. The kid hasnt been juicing, its a f***ing cop out by people who have no outlet for their frustration.
  22. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 31, 2008 -> 05:10 PM) I have no idea.
  23. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 30, 2008 -> 10:12 PM) It took two months, but I've lost my patience with Swisher. At least Jim is old and Konerko has the thumb, Swisher just looks like a guy lost without his PED's right now. Ridiculous statement. A guy that is slumping has obviously JUST gone off the juice. Nice assumption.
