  1. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 08:55 PM) His glove isn't as good as Uribe's so I say no. I do like his stick though and he's still young. He's the type of guy I wished we had a few years ago to play 2nd base when we had Willie Harris and a washed-up Robbie Alomar instead. I agree his arm isnt as good as Uribe's, but I believe his glove is just fine. His offense is what is going to appeal to fans however. If he has the ability to hit around .280 and up, you will be wanting him in the lineup everyday.
  2. QUOTE(JimH @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 09:06 PM) I think Graves has an out clause if he doesn't make the team, kind of like your buddy Tim Redding. Meaning, he could be cut loose and wouldn't need to be traded for. Not certain though. man Tim Redding blows.
  3. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 08:48 PM) Okay, take Broadway out of the list then. My main point is that there is enough mid-level farm talent like Rogowski for example, packaged with Borchard, to net a decent reliever. I doubt that KW will have to trade top rated prospects to obtain a bullpen replacement for Hermanson. ^^^^^^^^^^ There are lots of teams who wouldnt mind this. Some GM's do not value the bullpen like we do.
  4. Wow, alot less horrid reactions than I expected
  5. Bold prediction that will make everyone nuts, myself included: Cintron will be the sox starting SS by the end of the season.
  6. QUOTE(Fourofakind @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 07:34 PM) Thanks any and all comments are acceptable. Gotta love Gload's constistency. I can't see Borchard being as good of a bench player because he seems to be streaky. He's either striking out or smashing the ball. Gload has a simple swing and just puts the ball in play. Oh Jason i was thinking that maybe under the Authors name for our articles you could put our screen name so people can identify whose work they are reading. Just an idea. It was obvious that you favored Gload, because you made light of his obvious weaknesses on defense, and the fact that he has no real value to this team in the field. While saying that Borchard was weak on defense was a bit of a stretch.
  7. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 08:35 PM) I think most people just don't want to trade the top guys like Sweeney, Fields, Valido, Owens, Broadway, and Liotta. Who cares if they trade any of the other guys down there. Rock Raines mentioned Rogowski and he would be an ideal guy to package in a trade, although he obviously isn't going to have the trade value of the top guys. You know it. You gotta believe that Rogo has more value than Borchard IMO. And there really is no place for him, at all.
  8. QUOTE(WCSox @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 05:27 PM) And for the record, I don't drive a minivan. But feel free to keep taking shots at me. It was a generalization, part of proving a point. If that is a shot at you, what was your general comments about the simplicity of every new college graduate's life and responsibilities?
  9. wow, who wrote that article? Tough to pick up on the Gload favoritism over Borchard.......
  10. QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 05:16 PM) This guy has got to be opening some eyes - what pitches does he feature? If Hermy can't help, the door has to be open for the improbable - a young unknown stepping up. He hasnt pitched above A ball. I dont think his time is here quite yet.
  11. QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 04:36 PM) Liotta gives up a lead-off double in the bottom of the 8th - then issued a full count ball to the next hitter - 1st and 2nd - nobody out. Keith Ginter up. raising that trade value Borch.
  12. I think Borchard scored one, and I know thome hit a double at one point.
  13. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 03:44 PM) You are focused on that because it would make sense to trade Rogowski. We will have Konerko for the next 5 years and Thome for the next 3, possibly 4 years if he gets enough plate appearances in 2008 for his 2009 team option to be guaranteed. We have no need for Rogowski. He would only ever amount to a backup 1st baseman with us. May as well use him as trade-bait. Rogowski is one of the best defensive 1Bs in the minors, and can hit for average and swipe a few bases. You would think we could net a bullpen arm for him.
  14. Bold prediction: Broadway throws well today.
  15. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 03:06 PM) Anything can happen. I am VERY interested to see how this all shakes out. Im putting money on a couple new faces at the Cell come the 2nd of April..... I really think a prospect who we dont think will be moved, will be dealt. I personally really think that there may be a market for Rogowski, and im not sure why im so focused on that.
  16. QUOTE(JimH @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 03:07 PM) quickman will make something happen when he's in AZ, he will browbeat Sox brass into getting something done, and/or browbeat some other team's GM if necessary. Don't worry, he's on a mission. "Come on, prospects arent worth s***, trade em all Kenny"
  17. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 03:03 PM) How much value did you really think Baj had. Yes, I know he put up great numbers, but seeing his stuff( a small sample size of course) it really didnt seem like he is ready/will ever be a dependable major league pitcher. We got one of the best utility men in the game. It might not be the best example, but talent wise, IMO we won the deal by alot. Sometimes deals can be surprising. I still think we unload someone that people dont expect.
  18. Blanton losing a little control.
  19. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 02:55 PM) Charlie still has his age on his side. He has ALOT of time to get things down. Agreed, he is just not ready yet. Needs 1-2 more years if not more or throwing the pitch to be effective at all.
  20. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 02:49 PM) Haeger just doesn't seem to have any kind of command in the games he has pitched this spring. He's all over the place. His knuckler is nasty, but he is too inconsistent with it. Either its unhittable, or straight as an arrow. The only thing that will help him is some more time throwing it.
  21. Later Haeger, work on being more consistent this year, we'll see you next spring.
  22. QUOTE(quickman @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 02:28 PM) ring ring, Kenny is that you again, I told you I want sweeney for a bullpen arm. Don't call me back until I get sweeney. How about Rogowski and a bucket of balls?
  23. FYI, jason grilli pitching for Det
