  1. I have a 25 year old honda that runs like a charm. You get your money's worth.
  2. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 11, 2014 -> 03:10 PM) That's fine as long as we all agree that Rock and Shack struggle to lift 60 pounds. seriously though plasmas are definitely significantly heavier than comparably sized LCDs, but I moved mine once to put it on the wall and might move it again in 3-5 years if we move to a new house. Also a consideration is you NEED to have the mount screwed into studs. I have an LCD that I used half drywall anchors and it would never work with 60 lbs.
  3. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 11, 2014 -> 03:04 PM) you should know me better than to think I didn't google it before posting http://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-50PN6...keywords=plasma Whats up now b****.
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 11, 2014 -> 02:58 PM) I thought you guys work out? A 50" plasma weighs like 40 pounds. No, they are about 60 lbs.
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 11, 2014 -> 02:51 PM) When I went to mount my 50-inch plasma a few months ago (it had always just stood on its base), it was heavy as all f***...what a b**** that was... Yeah its incredible because when I got it I remember how much lighter it was than my "big screen." You can mount a 60 inch LED with one person.
  6. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 11, 2014 -> 01:18 PM) That'd be because he *is* wrong. When it comes to refresh rates/sports, nothing comes close to plasma. The issue with plasma has never been one of picture quality or refresh speed, the issue was of burn-in and it's non-efficient use of electricity in comparison to LCD sets. And as someone else correctly pointed out, LED *is* LCD, with different back lighting. Plasmas are also much heavier and get red hot. My 7 year old plasma owns at watching hockey. However they do not make a plasma large enough for a big room so you have to spend quite a bit to get one of the better LED's. I also only buy samsung. I have an Apple TV on each TV in my house so the "smart" features never get used. I have used 3D and its cool, but only for the occasional movie. If you want good blacks with an LED micro dimming is a good tech. At the end of the day if there are light splotches in a super dark scene during a movie will you even care? It could be the stupid comcast feed anyway. The ONE thing I hate is sometimes LED's show a skipping hockey puck or golf ball or show the notorious 3 balls flying through the air. You can adjust your setting to minimize that and LED's look pretty slick otherwise. I just got a 75 incher for my basement and I am sure it will be awesome for 90 percent of what I watch. Or you could always get this http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-UN85S9-85-In...rds=samsung+led
  7. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 11, 2014 -> 01:25 AM) Where to begin looking for a big TV for a basement? What to look for? Will be used 99% of the time to watch sports. Online? In store? Brand? LED vs Plasma? Any help appreciated, there seems to be a million options. You live in Chicago. Always go with amazon unless Costco has a killer deal. You save having to pay the 10 percent sales tax with amazon. The cheap LEDs aren't great with hockey btw. You have to spend a bit to get one that will be satisfactory to you.
  8. Go early. They are giving out sweet fleece blankets.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 11, 2014 -> 08:28 AM) Garcia's injury was a tough break, but let's face it, until his 2 homer 4-5 performance the day before his injury and his 2 walk performance the day of his injury, he was pretty horrific this season. Maybe he was just coming out of it, and ready to take off. We will never know. But to think he alone makes a difference between winning and losing several games a month IMO is exhaggerating. Hawk was saying last night that he and the new hitting coach really had developed a nice bond. Perhaps that will help him realize his full potential in the future. He's a talented guy, but even with his minor league success, he needed to change some things around to become a truly productive major league hitter. He looked it for a game and a half. Maybe it was the beginning of a streak that was going to change things around for him. So you're saying he had bad games before he had good games. That never happens in baseball....in April....
  10. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 8, 2014 -> 10:59 PM) You don't sit players for weeks on end before the playoffs for "rest." Maybe a game or two at the end, but that's about it. This isn't coach Q being smart. If they were healthy or close to healthy, they'd be playing. They are still playing for home ice advantage, it's not like these games are meaningless on top of it. The guys were both fairly significantly injured, the end. I saw Kane at Palace Grill. He didn't appear to be limping or anything.
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 07:30 AM) Spartan spur fan and Adrien Payne companion, Princess Lacey died. Awful. She looked healthy on TV. Did a good job hiding it. That legitimately sucks.
  12. They've already put up about 20 percent of the run support Q got last season.
  13. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 8, 2014 -> 10:04 PM) That's just great to see in the dugout. Last year some players would be back in the video room and not even come out.
  14. Tulo clearly looking for something outside. And that's where he throws it. Get a clue Flowers.
  15. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Apr 8, 2014 -> 09:21 PM) Nice catch Avi Can't teach someone how to play outfield though.
  16. Blue mountain state being made into a movie. Fantastic.
  17. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 8, 2014 -> 04:27 PM) JoPa could barely stand the last ten years, let alone rule Penn St. like an emperor. Oh but he did. Look at how bad the brainwashing still is there. He and his wife built a wall around PSU and Happy Valley. Coach K is apparently very similar. I mean they named a court after an active coach, he OWNS that town and that university. If he came in and requested class schedules be written on a piece of bologna and given to student I bet they would seriously think about passing it.
  18. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 8, 2014 -> 10:11 AM) Compliance departments have been known to do stuff like that when it concerns high profile recruits. Yup, and it's kind of foolish to think he didnt know about the issues that have followed him. He's been smart enough to keep the heat off of his back which is a talent. With that said, college bball is horribly sketchy. The AAU circuit alone has contributed greatly to this.
  19. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 8, 2014 -> 09:09 AM) This is why I despise Deadspin/Gawker's bulls*** editorializing. Some writer gets a bug up his/her butt about something, they post some random nonsense on their website and then it becomes a story because of their viewership. Did you watch the video? Boeheim said nothing controversial. He wasn't criticizing Ennis for leaving. The worst thing he said was that he was not sure Ennis was physically ready to make the jump to the NBA, and then quickly added that his skills and game were absolutely ready for the next level. I dont think he's completely ready for the NBA either.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 08:04 AM) What bothered you this episode? The depiction of the Thenns was a bit odd but I like that they brought their (rumored?) cannibalistic nature to the screen. I'll always prefer the books to the show in the this series, but I think GoT has done mostly a great job in the adaptation. Its not the episode, its the whole show. It just is so much different than what I had in my mind and they gloss over so many important details. I try my best to keep it separate the best I can.
  21. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 8, 2014 -> 07:28 AM) People keep saying UCONN is not that good. That's fine. They aren't an all-time great but they are the last team standing. They didn't beat nobodies either; Villanova, Iowa State, Michigan State, Florida, Kentucky. That's a pretty nice list. They have a young but incredible coach, senior/junior leadership at a time when college athletes are leaving earlier and earlier and a roster with 4-5 future NBA pros. This is their 4th title (and 5th Final 4) in the last 15 years. Every single program in the country would trade their last 15 years with UCONN. I love it. People can complain about them or deride them all they want but at the end of the day they are the National Champions and I couldn't be happier. It was a great group of kids to follow for 3-4 years and was a hugely enjoyable season. They deserved this after the work they put in last year during their unjust punishment for what they had no part in. The tournament champion isnt always the best team in the country, I figure everyone just knows that. They made an awesome run that ended with a title. You have to respect that. As with trading their last 15 years, with all the controversy, NCAA issues and not even making the tournament because of grades, i'm sure there are some people who wouldnt.
  22. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 01:37 AM) Morin was great, Benny Smith has been turning a corner this spring, but unfortunately Teuvo rots on the healthy scratch list.... is there no league this kid can be playing in right now? Yeah I don't get it either. He's a point machine. Q must be worried about his defense.
  23. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 01:17 AM) Nice to see Q finally having his head out of his ass and is playing Morin as well. He was awesome.
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 01:27 AM) Forgot about Danks...partially because of the fact that we've come to think of someone on his way out rather than part of the future plans. That one could go either way. If they're undecided how to fit Davidson and Gillaspie into the line-up, they can always move one of them over to 1B/DH. The popular line of thinking has always been we need to bring in one more big bat (Sandoval, Rasmus, Morales, etc.) going into 2015, but we'll see. They're definitely going to be better off adding the right veteran into the mix...as they will have one of the youngest teams in the majors when Konerko/Dunn both depart. And then the decisions on Ramirez/Semien/Sanchez. It would be huge if Semien could actually stick at SS defensively. Otherwise, you have to worry about a team without a single above average defender at any position...other than perhaps Eaton and Flowers/Nieto. Theoretically, Semien could get there at 2B, but probably will always be an average SS at best. The thinking is 1-3 spots via free agency when the time comes to compete. At least that's what I heard. Around 40 million annual.
