The official "end of Ozzie soon?" thread
RockRaines replied to whitesoxbrian's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 13, 2011 -> 05:08 PM) In Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball, the only lineup change I ever make is taking out Guillen and putting in the Little Hurt. Every time. +1. Ozzie is god-awful in that game. Karko is a beast though. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 13, 2011 -> 05:06 PM) One of the worst hitters you've ever seen? Wow. Yes, as a regular player on the Sox he's definitely up there as one of the worst. One of the best with the glove though. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 13, 2011 -> 04:54 PM) I just gotta say the eye test disputes those stats. Anybody want to back me up on this or are we just all saying Oz was a s***ty baseball player? Good glove, no bat. He was one of the worst hitters i have ever seen and the worst on a good baseball team that didnt need his bat. You had guys like Tim Raines, Robin Ventura, Frank Thomas, Carlton Fisk, Lance Johnson, Ellis Burks, Karko,Julio Franco, etc all hitting in a lineup where he wasnt needed at the time. He was all Glove and still was replaced at times by guys like Steve Sax. -

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 13, 2011 -> 04:27 PM) No wonder he's so infatuated with bad players like Pierre. His career stats are literally what drives us crazy about some players. -

http://deadspin.com/5820716/the-100-worst-...ebration-part-1 LOL. I dont know if anyone posted this already, Oz is on the list. -
Ill be glad to see him gone to be honest. He's always been a thorn in our sides.

Statistically speaking, this is the worst Sox team Ozzie has coached at this point of the season. We are either going to get better, or the division will run away from us.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 13, 2011 -> 03:07 PM) Only if the Goose Island Brewery can be located in the West. Goose Island isn't available in the Phoenix area. It was bought out, I'm sure it will be soon.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 13, 2011 -> 03:15 PM) Things that will make Chicago fans celebrate. Ill believe it when I see it.

There are numerous hotels and resorts around the world that have banned kids. As someone who doesnt have kids and wants to not deal with them at times, good.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 13, 2011 -> 01:51 PM) That doesn't mean that offense can't help them. They've gotten a .682 OPS out of LF and a .688 OPS out of CF on the season. Inge has been probably one of the worst everyday players in the majors this season. They could use a 3B

QUOTE (SoxPride56 @ Jul 13, 2011 -> 01:51 PM) Is Buehrle on that list? Obviously, he is my favorite player, so I am just wondering. Thanks. I havent heard it personally.

2011-2012 OFFICIAL NBA LOCKOUT thread
RockRaines replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 13, 2011 -> 01:26 PM) when he returns, is he considered an UDFA? Good question. I guess Euro teams are offering guaranteed money to these guys and my guess is that some will take it. I know he has the option to stay for 2 years or come back after 1. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 13, 2011 -> 01:21 PM) Hmm. I wonder what that list looks like. If posting rumors on this site didnt end up in SI and MLBTR.com then it would be easier to discuss.

QUOTE (spiderman @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 08:45 PM) I assume you are referring to Carlos Quentin? It would be interesting to see if the White Sox were really willing to shake things up and move both Quentin/Jackson. The best part of moving Quentin is that you don't need a replacement with Viceido on the verge of breaking in. Between moving Jackson and Quentin, they could bring in 2 or 3 pieces for next season to help balance the payroll and who have good upside. More than Quentin as well. I would say there are at least 5 players that are in discussion pitchers and position players.

The Mets basically just saved themselves the option. The two players they are getting arent anything.

2011-2012 OFFICIAL NBA LOCKOUT thread
RockRaines replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
My boy David Lighty signed a 2 year contract in italy and has to stay at least one year. He is a prime example of a player that would have signed a training camp contract in the NBA and has instead take the cash in Europe. -
WC finals for the women. USA!!

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 06:08 PM) Out of curiousity, how much is tuition there? Serious question. No idea, I am guessing in the 20's. I went to Miami and when I left the cost was around 25k. I saw in the paper today that the avg annual payout for a scholarship athlete at Northwestern is almost 60k, so I assume most other schools would be below that. -
Downloaded Bridesmaids, pretty excited about it

You could probably get Alonzo from the Reds for Edwin and flip him.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 11, 2011 -> 07:39 PM) If they try a major panic shakeup, they're going to lose a ton of season ticket sales anyway. Well, they are losing mine for next year thats for sure. I already sent a letter.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 01:17 PM) The .742 OPS he's putting up this year isn't helping his trade value, but yes, they should still be able to get more than Jackson for him. That said, if Edwin Jackson is the best pitcher available on the trade market, and the Cardinals need a starter...well... He's also been terrible defensively for them as well. They want pitching.
-
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 12:53 PM) Trade Quentin for a young pitcher. Than trade Jackson for a young hitter. That would be nice. Colby Rasmus is being shopped by STL.
