  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 04:02 PM) I'm sure it's not helping Dunn any. To those at the games ... does the booing seem mean spirited and hateful? Or is it just like the obligatory booing for a guy hitting .175 and whiffing all the time? I get the feeling it's kind of obligatory booing and not hateful. You are spot on. I boo him, because its ridiculous.
  2. I dont hate Ozzie the person as ive met him and spoken with several times and he is a really nice guy to the public. However, I hate him as a manager.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 03:36 PM) Not for $3 million I'd take him for half of that.
  4. They can be pissed all they want, the players arent performing, tough s***. All people at all jobs that do not perform are subject to scrutiny.
  5. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 11:46 AM) Cam Barker waived.. That Leddy trade looks more ridiculous for Minny by the day. Ill take Barker
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 03:16 PM) The worst offense in MLB knows what to do with Doug Davis on a warm summer day at Wrigley. I hope the Sox can figure it out when I am there on Sunday. +1. Doug Davis blows
  7. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 03:04 PM) I thought I heard on the radio that we were 26th in MLB in OBP. That doesn't seem right. 12th overall 7th in AL Filtering all offensive stats, we are fairly average across the board. This is with several key players hitting jack s***.
  8. The Tigers players I saw were Jair and Matt Joyce.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 01:34 PM) Comparing Dunn's .624 OPS to anything Soriano's ever done is an injustice to Soriano. Comparing not even half a season to an entire season makes no sense.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 01:22 PM) I think there's a purpose to a guy like Dunn having the bat deep on his back. He's not a guy who takes the bat and quickly whips it through the zone (a-la Thome). He generates his power by having a big, long swing. If you shorten his swing by having the bat take a shorter path, you're liable to knock out his power stroke. (Yeah, yeah, I know the retort is that he doesn't have one right now). I'm sort of transferring that from the bat plane to a leg kick, hoping to elongate his movement a little to keep his hands back.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 11:12 AM) I'm debating whether I even want to bother with this show anymore. Last year was a chore to get through. I'm watching with extreme prejudice. I wallowed through the last few episodes just to catch back up and I remembered how ridiculous it got. Looks like they are at least cutting that old storyline off a bit with the "3 years later" time line.
  12. If I was Greg Walker, I would change a few things for Dunn. First, I would take the bat off of his back like he does when he is waiting for a pitch. That little Ozzie Guillen bat move is bulls*** IMO. Second, I would have him start his leg kick while the pitcher is in the wind up, to make sure he gets his damn foot down earlier than he is now as he is clearly off balance. This should keep his hands ready and possibly slow down his movement which could help him start to hit into left and left center.
  13. Has Kenny really traded anyone away that has become a star? I was reading an ESPN the magazine article today and basically half the players they were mentioning as studs were traded away from the Tigers.
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 12:04 PM) I'm sick of hearing "it's all mental." You know what, take some of that $14 million and go see a f***ing shrink. He went from Cincy to Arizona to Washington and there was seemingly no adjustment period needed, as all he did was rake. Now he moves to the big bad AL, where fans are a bit more vocal than those of the Reds D-backs and Nationals, and all of a sudden he needs to be institutionalized? Swing the bat and hit the ball, fatty. Yeah, you clearly dont understand whats meant by the term "its mental." It has nothing to do with seeing a shrink. He's in a slump, he has the yips, it has nothing to do with being weak mentally. And once again, maybe add something to your posts like what you may think it is keeping him from hitting. "swing the bat fatty" isnt all that insightful. Here's an article from last week on some hitters that are also slumping http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/i...-will-break-out

Weeds wasnt bad, but its still hokey how everything comes together sometimes.
  16. Went through an almost full workout yesterday with the exception of taking it easy on my legs by taking out most of the lunges/jumps etc. Still could do slow squats and some kettleball movements. Feel pretty good today and ill have some rehab tonight then hit the weight/airfits for upper body.
  17. He's going to eventually snap out of it and then the other side of the conversation will gloat.
  18. So is Florida just our minor league team now? And the Chicago Wolves are now Vancouver's AHL team.
  19. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 06:00 PM) looks bigger to me. And it's more than mental that's making him unable to catch up to fastballs. Unless you think starting his swing too late is only mental. Yup 100% mental. He is completely between and either cheats on the pitch or is not seeing it all the way to the plate. Compound that with your huge contract and fans booing you every time you strike out. He's in f***ing quicksand. And he's not bigger, he's the same as evidenced by the now several times his pictures have been posted. I am facing the same thing right now in my golf game and I am not fatter or slimmer than I was a month ago, yet I cannot even make contact with the ball. Mental block. Dunn has the baseball equivalent to the yips.
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 03:14 PM) Why are you stating this as 100% fact? You're just guessing. No, its a fact. The guy is the same size he's been for the last 3-4 years. He works out in the offseason with the exception of taking flips. Its 100% mental.
  21. QUOTE (Real @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 02:55 PM) Having a bat that isnt quick isnt the same as having what amounts to a slider speed bat, i'd imagine if his batspeed were the same as previous years he couldnt hit say... 97mph without cheating a bit, he's whiffing on 91-92mph now He whiffs on everything, pitch speed has nothing to do with it. The guy is in a mental slump, its not weight or offseason plans.
  22. How many teams with a struggling offense would keep their top prospect in the minors who is raking?
  23. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 12:17 PM) I get your point but doing absolutely nothing in the offseason while playing for a new league may have hindered Dunn's effectiveness this season. Instead of bragging about not picking up a bat since last season ended I would have loved to have heard him tell us how he worked extra hard this past offseason, studied film of the AL Central pitching staffs, and instituted a workout routine for the 1st time in his life. He didnt brag about that at all. And he's had a workout routine his entire career.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 10:05 AM) Ugh. Those are the kind of people that ruin their kids lives. http://espn.go.com/blog/collegebasketballn...le-upset-at-nba Heres the link. Says Richmond is basically Harrison Barnes.
