  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 04:45 PM) First, he's definitely better even now. Second, they area going in opposite directions career-wise, IMO. Pierre has seen his peak and is falling. Beckham, my read, is that he will get a lot better. And putting him in a place where the pressure is more about contact and less about power would benefit him by quieting his swing a bit. Have you checked out Gordon's numbers lately? He should bat 8th or 9th, no higher. Putting a s***ty hitter up in the order in the hopes that makes him better is not exceptionally smart. Beckham's swing is a complete mess and the guy cant catch up to a fastball.
  2. Ugh, why bat Beckham 2nd? He's not much better than Juan Pierre.
  3. Pretty good recruiting article on the upcoming Big Ten classes:

  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 04:24 PM) Hey, look at that, fans complaining about their team losing. What a shock, this is completely original to the city of Vancouver and never happens with fans of other teams. That's totally worth posting all the time on a Chicago board. Canucks fans take it to a whole new level, if you dont recognize that then you are blind. What other team in pro sports has enshrined a coach for complaining to the refs?
  6. AH, it didnt show Daniel calling the ref a cocksucker. And Canucks fans think there should be a review and suspension on Raymond's hit. Aka, a body check
  7. Results are in (sorta). Smallish tear in the meniscus, nothing that would require surgery at this point (yes!). HOWEVER, they found a floating body just inside of my kneecap causing my frontal pain and some bone edema in my patella. We will do 1 month of rehab and then go back in for another MRI to check out progress. So not bad news unless the floating piece is something they need to remove. At this point the doc would like to see what happens with rehab.
  8. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 10:52 AM) So the only way you can discuss another countries politics is if you live there? Obviously you can discuss anything you want in the world without having experienced it. But the people who have been there and lived there will have a more accurate account.
  9. Yeah, I would like to see Penn take up residence in Caracas without Voss water and 7 assistants.
  10. I loved when Daniel was getting pummeled in the face with lefts and he looks at the ref and says, "are you gonna call that you cocksucker"
  11. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 05:56 PM) Im sure the Mavericks cant wait to enjoy all of the honors and privileges of being from s***hole Ohio. Well, they do have Kings Island. And Thurmans..
  12. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 06:56 PM) Hahaha that says it pretty well. Seriously, a lot of people (like me) would get off LeBron's case if he learned how to act like a normal person who understands what the critics are actually saying (pointing out the glaringly obvious) Magic put it pretty clearly last night. He said he knew when he lost the series for the Lakers against Boston and not only owned up to it, but told the fans that he would do everything he could to improve himself to get them back there. And he did. I remember reading that in his book as well. All Lebron had to do was come out and say, I just put up a total s*** game in this series, and I promise I never will again.
  13. Remember when Soto was on the juice? Man he was good.
  14. IMO, they are putting their eggs in the wrong basket.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 02:06 AM) Oh, oh, I like those results. Real or fake tits, I think real.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 02:02 PM) I really dislike the idea of opening up the PF hole again to try to fill the SG hole. Especially considering Boozer's contract size limits who you could get for him to equally overpaid SG's. Technically Taj would fill that void.
  17. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 01:48 PM) And how does this make them that much better? They're already the number one defensive team out there. They played well enough on that end of the floor against the Heat. The problem was scoring. Dwight doesn't give you that, especially in the 4th quarter. We need a legit, all star 2 guard or small forward. Someone like Jason Terry. Someone that can hit shots consistently when Rose penetrates. IMO, adding Dwight is almost like adding Shaq to Wade in 2006.
  18. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 01:36 PM) Is there any way Gar/Pax can make this happen? Seriously. Please? Dwight seems to have a soft-spot for "fast don't lie" despite the fact that he has swatted him around like a fly in past meetings. Move whatever you can to make this happen.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 12:57 PM) And how do you come to this conclusion without the advanced metrics? They were/are both terrible offensively. They thrived defensively and on the boards. On the boards was all I was looking at. Wallace's best year was not as good as Russells worst year. Overall Russell avg'ed more than double the boards Wallace did, and no advanced metric will be able to paint that differently. Wallace, even at his peak, is a very poor comparison to Russell. You could probably find a much better player to compare to Russell. I'm not a fan of advanced metrics in BBALL, but what would be sufficient? Win shares, defensive win shares?
  20. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 12:54 PM) That's because he doesn't have the longevity. 10 years of his all-star play and he's easily a HOF. Remember, I never said Wallace > Russell. I said Wallace at his peak was basically Bill Russell. Russell just did it 3-4 years longer. Wallace at his peak was worse than Russell's worst year statistically. So thats a tough call on that one.
  21. Ben Wallace is moe Dennis Rodman than Bill Russell dude. And even thats a stretch. Ben Wallace will never enter the HOF discussion.
  22. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 12:46 PM) And, surprisingly, Canada has produced its fair share of league average centers. Yes, but what about Australia?
  23. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 12:27 PM) Shoot, score, rebound (probably similar when you adjust for pace), pass, much better FT shooter . You said shooting in 3 different ways. Russell was a better rebounder and better defensively. Hakeem however kind of started the movement of 7 footers being able to take their game outside, he's alot like Dirk in that manner.
  24. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 12:12 PM) Hakeem was better at every facet of basketball. I have no clue where you're coming from. He did it better against MUCH stiffer competition. The only thing he did better than Russell was shoot.
