Wow, this thread is still going? I thought it would be closed by now. You would think we were in last place or something.

It's been 2,437 days since Michigan last beat Ohio State. -
5 starts: No command No balls. Nice evaluation.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 23, 2010 -> 10:55 AM) Jon Heyman (SI) on Twitter: #chisox like prince fielder but have discussed dunn, laroche and berkman, in that order, as possible 2nd choices Berkman was picking up steam not too long ago.

I wish the Oswalt talk would stop. Frankly, I would rather have Dan Haren.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 05:17 PM) noodle, it's all about his stuff. It's obvious to anyone watching that he just isn't the same pitcher anymore. Even Ozzie called him out after the game last night. When you combine that with rumblings within the organization about Jenks' stubborness to throw more curves, you get a situation where there is a lot of doubt. Meh, its not like he made terrible pitches last night. Figgins somehow got inside of a up and in fastball and the walk off hit was off the end of the bat. I dont think his stuff is bad, but his pitch selection has been.

Now lets attack each other because we are upset about the loss. Jeez.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 12:19 PM) Putz almost has 100 career saves. He knows how to do this. IMO, Putz is better served as a set up man. I personally feel like that is a much more high leverage situation, especially since he comes in with guys already on. I think we move Santos back to the 9th for a few games to see if he can cut it. I personally dont like moving Thornton or Putz.

For fellow westloopers and also fans of 3 Floyds and also Local Breweries in Chicago: http://www.chicagojournal.com/News/07-21-2...nity_in_Chicago pretty f***ing excited about this one.

I'd rather not move Putz from what IMO is one of the most important spots in any bullpen. Lets throw the reigns to Santos for a few games and see what he has.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 01:43 AM) Thank god for college hoops. I seriously don't like the direction the NBA is headed in right now. True. College sports and especially the tourney are the ultimate equalizer.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 09:17 AM) You know why Blown Saves are abbreviated BS? Cause they're bulls***. Jenks didn't even get a blown save for that horrible game he had in Minnesota. Shows how accurate blown saves are don't it? So he has 3 blown saves. He hasnt been good this year, but he's not the awful pitcher that everyone is saying because they are upset after a loss that most people already thought we would lose. There is no perfect stat for a closer, but saves and blown saves are about as close as you can get. A closer can have a high ERA but be 100% on saves and still be very effective.

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 07:37 AM) This isn't the same Bobby from 05'. Quit living in the past... the man just isn't a good closer anymore. In 2005, Bobby blew 2 saves out of 8 in 39 IP. In 2010 Booby has blown 2 saves in 22 attempts in 35IP. He's actually been a better closer this year. The closer is designed to get saves correct? He's on pace to blow about 4 saves this year, which is his career avg just about.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 10:18 AM) It would be difficult based on their remaining schedule, and the Reds/Cardinals having a much easier schedule. The Cubs offense is pretty dynamic now with Ramirez slugging, Soto/Castro/Colvin being underrated, and Soriano/Byrd being productive. Problem for Cubs is they have 10 days to determine if they have to unload their players. Hopefully Cards can avoid getting swept by them this weekend, and that will then result in trading Lilly, etc. The Cardinals desperately need to add some pitching. Unfortunately, the Cubs will face Suppan and Hawkesworth in Fri/Sat games. Colvin has come way back to earth after his start. He wont OPS over .800, and for a corner OF'er who doesnt get on base much, thats not very good. Soto is quietly having a ridiculous season, .400 OBP with some power to boot.

His hips have little to do with what they broke down. His hands and his weight are very off compared to 2009. His hands do a full circle before the bat gets moving and his upper body is pitched towards the pitcher before contact.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 02:56 PM) I just started the entire P90x program on Monday. Shoulders and chest were rough, as was the Ab Ripper X, and I consider myself in good shape. I probably kept up for the first round of pushups and pullups, and then after that they're setting goals of 20 pushups, meanwhile I'm doing four or five before collapsing. It met my expectations, as I knew I wasn't going to match Tony or his other performers, but I honestly was surprised at the lack of actual weight lifting movements. Also, for the Ab Ripper workout, the oblique situp performed on your side is painful. Anyone else think so? It's just an incredibly awkward movement to make and pinches my hip bones everytime. I'm looking forward to the completing this in October, and I plan on following the diet as closely as possible. I'm upset I missed pylometrics yesterday due to working late (I don't want to get into this habit of missing workouts) but I'm doing that today. Plyo is the key to your lean down initially, you've got to hit that. While you are collapsing on 4-5 pushups, move to your knees, this is why you should get a yoga mat or a rug in your room. On the ARX routine, a yoga mat or soft rug is a must or you will be hurting on alot of those moves. Just keep pushing play, even if you feel like s***. Enjoy plyo.

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 07:43 AM) I am totally clueless on this one. Is it Omar's game preparation? Does he whisper secrets in his ear? I mean, really....clearly Alexei is playing great D but can anyone point to anything that Omar does on a daily basis that has helped? Seems like this can be blown out of proportion but you can't argue with results... One of Omar's signature moves since he has been in the league is the pick up and throw all in one motion to get the ball out as quick as possible. Alexei has completely picked up on this, especially on plays in the hole. Look at the way Alexei now rounds off grounders to his left to get in a better throwing position. Omar has his fingerprints all over Alexeis game.

QUOTE (The Gooch @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 06:02 PM) Eddie Van Halen. He was the most innovative guitarist of all time imo. He did things with his right hand that no one had ever dreamed of before. He was also a great rhythm player (which no one usually gives him credit for). That is the reason all the Van Halen imitators in the 80's didn't last, they were all flash. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4lrAxUuwkk...feature=related I second this, Hot For Teacher still blows my mind.
