QUOTE (earthshiner @ Apr 5, 2010 -> 04:13 PM) I made a comment today to a buddy about how bad the cubs pitching is gonna be. HE responded with, Big Z, Dempster, Wells, and Lily should be solid. I told him I wasn't talking about them. Nice zambrano last 4 outs Zambrano the Ace hasnt materialized in a long time. He was a dynamic #3 for them at one point though.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 4, 2010 -> 08:30 PM) People have been saying that the last three rounds, and it still hasn't happened. Duke should beat them by 20, but Butler seems to find a way. Well it set up pretty nice for them, they only had to play MSU without their best player in the final four, by far the worst team left in the field.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Apr 4, 2010 -> 11:38 AM) Ok, looks like I'm going to give this a shot. Gotta gather some equipment this week. Question for those with experience: My softball league starts in about 2 weeks. We play Thursday nights. How sore will I be? How should I schedule the workouts so that I can play ball? Should I make Thursday the rest day? Any suggestions? Your soreness will also flip around from place to place on your body depending on the week. Core syn will trample your lower back, plyo will destroy your hammies, etc.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 10:28 PM) Makes me wish the 2000 ISU team with Fizer and Tinsley would have happened 10 years later. I have no doubt that team would have ripped through this tournament. This Butler team struggled to beat my buckeyes at home without Turner. It's amazing they made this championship. I think Duke rolls them to be honest.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 07:56 PM) I hate the state of Michigan so much. It smells like hot dog water for god sakes.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 07:53 PM) I can't ever root for a Huggins team. what happens if both teams completely foul out?
-
I really really dont know who to root for here. Hate Duke, hate Huggins.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 07:45 PM) There was a 10 minute stretch in the 2nd half where Butler outscored MSU 4-3. That is terrible basketball. I don't care if it is closely contested, that is lousy basketball that isn't entertaining to watch at all. Agreed, offensively it was brutal, but its still better than a blowout IMO.

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 07:41 PM) Gotta disagree. Close games are fun, but when it's such low quality basketball it's not all that exciting. Similar to watching a high school basketball game where the players are trying hard, but the score ends up 39-36. This year has been the worst quality basketball I have ever seen. The last second shots are exciting, but the actual games themselves are horrible to watch. I don't mind if I'm not watching future pro players, but when you are watching games like this where a team shoots 30.6% from the floor and is about to play for the national title, it's pretty bad. Clearly the game wasnt the best and was dictated by the refs for the most part, and defense for the other. But I dont think that discounts how good of a tournament this has been. I've gotten used to a letdown in championship games in almost every sport I guess, so I wasnt expecting much.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 07:39 PM) See I guess my problem with this is that a close game doesn't make a game enjoyable for me to watch. This game was absolutely terrible to watch even though it was close. The fact that the last minute might be entertaining doesn't erase the 39 minutes of garbage that I had to watch before that. Ah, so you only like to watch games played perfectly by both teams involved, THATS whats enjoyable to you? Something ironic in that coming from an Illinois fan.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 07:38 PM) I expect that once you get to the Sweet 16 and beyond that the games will be played at a pretty highly level and they are year in and year out. There have been very few really good games after the first round. The first day of the tournament was a ton of fun and since then there hasn't been much to get excited about. Most of the 2nd round games weren't close, the Sweet 16 games were terrible for the most part and 2 of the 4 elite games were fun to watch. Add in a terrible start to the final 4 and this hasn't been a great tourney. So short sighted. You are telling me there werent any good games past the first round? Your memory isnt serving you well. We have 2 #5 seeds in the final four, those upsets alone make it a great tourney. As for a terrible start? You just had a game come down to the last second with a free throw standing in the way of a win. The refs controlled the game for the most part, but the game was contested and close and you can bet that Butler and MSU fans came away thinking that was a great game.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 07:33 PM) Yes, all we want is the games to be close and Gus involved. Close games and upsets are 100% the reason the NCAA tourney is so popular, nobody watches it because there may be pro-caliber players in the game. Some of the best NCAA games of all time featured players that never sniffed an NBA career.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 07:26 PM) BTW I love how defensive college basketball fans that aren't big NBA fans can be about the quality of college basketball. I started a thread on an Illinois board about how terrible the quality of play has been throughout this tournament and got attacked by people saying this has been one of the greatest tournaments ever. The first day was amazing and there has been 3 or 4 good games since then but nearly every game last weekend was horrible. It has been one of the best ever judging by upsets and last second shots. Nobody cares that every player isnt pro caliber since its college sports, you are stupid if you expect every game to be a showcase of highly skilled players. MSU got homered pretty good in that game, but I think either team will be stomped by the Duke/WVU winner.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 10:12 AM) Same here very sad. But my first reaction when I heard he was on Spring Break was...Alcohol. I've been following this kid for years as the Bucks were heavy after him. What a shame. -

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Apr 2, 2010 -> 02:11 PM) So are they going to stick with the small lineup then? That seems weird now that you have Sullinger and Thomas as well as Lauderdale up front. With Turner as one of the perimeter players it made sense, not as sure about that with Smith or Craft at the point. Well, define small lineup. Lighty, Buford and Diebler are all 6'5" and up, Sully adds 6'9" into the rotation and Thomas fits in well with the wings. Not really that small of a lineup. -

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Apr 1, 2010 -> 10:42 AM) You would have to be dumb enough to drive your motorcycle into a tree to return for your senior year as a consensus top 2 pick in the draft. Sorry, one more shot at a dookie. LOL. No chance of him coming back. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 31, 2010 -> 07:05 PM) Team not good enough this year around him. If guys like Sullinger and other Buckeye players get the majority of the focus, Lenzelle will kill. The kid is seriously hard to box out out and he could clean up the glass for a kid only 6'3 Sully just pulled down co-MVP of the McD's game and should team up with Thomas, Lighty, Buford and Diebler to keep some of the pressure off Lenzelle. The word is Lenzelle or Craft will be starting at PG. -
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Mar 31, 2010 -> 11:10 PM) Walt was the most prominent motivating factor behind the end of the first season and the entire second season, How was he not that big of a deal? The kid was painted as being special, so special that the Others blew up a raft and kidnapped him, he got saved, and then went on to be a non-factor for the rest of the series. Like everything else in the first 90 percent of this show, its irrelevant. Basically you dont even need to go back and watch anything since Dharma, the hatches, any secrets of the others, its all irrelevant and was wasted time. Now all that matters is two characters they just really brought in the last 10 episodes.

Did core syn in 80 degree room today, drenched in sweat.

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 1, 2010 -> 10:47 AM) Unsuccessful in their attempts to trade DE Alex Brown, the Bears are expected to release the pass rusher on Thursday afternoon. Brown was deemed no longer worthy of his $5 million salary when Lovie Smith announced that Israel Idonije would move from tackle to end. The team also wants to get youngsters Jarron Gilbert and Henry Melton into the rotation. Expect Brown to draw plenty of interest on the open market. Apr. 1 - 11:21 am et ----------------------------------------- I'm not happy. Once again proving the Bears arent really sure what they are doing.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 1, 2010 -> 12:20 AM) It's funny, we both said before we met that we wouldn't date somebody who likes the other team. But now, neither of us seem to care about that at all. We're not to the point where I'd say we are a couple right now, but we're definitely getting there. My gf family is die hard cubs and it actually is kind of fun getting into it with them over baseball.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 31, 2010 -> 10:31 AM) Welcome to 2005, gramps. I sure hope this Pierzynski fella doesn't implode the team chemistry. Even that was late, I had one in 2002, then tivo right after. My life wouldnt be the same without DVR's in every room.

QUOTE (Stocking @ Mar 31, 2010 -> 12:47 AM) alright im in. already in good shape, but the gym is getting stale. i find my motivation thinning, so lets go. I did plyo sunday just to see what p90 was about, i barely finished. I did chest& back monday. I only have one heavy band and found the lift portion to be too easy. I ordered a set of 5 connectable bands, hope that works cause bells are $$. My calves were extremely sore yesterday and today but i pushed through another round of plyo to stay inline with the program. I may continue to lift at the gym but am afraid that may be over kill. anywho, glad to be apart. Dont worry about lifting at the gym quite yet. Follow the program and do all the resistance workouts at full bore. It will help sculpt your muscles differently that the gym has so you want to let it work over time.
