  1. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 04:18 PM) You dont think that the view of Chicago and the Lakefront sells the Bears brand better than a field in the middle of no where? And since the Bears sell out every game and have a huge waiting list for season tickets, it seems that most people are fine with the elements. I think soldier field itself is synonymous with the Bears brand, 100%. Coming down into chicago, on the lakefront, to watch the bears is part of the experience. They are the Chicago Bears and part of that is where they are located. I dont see them ever moving out of the city, if anything they could move farther south down the lakefront.
  2. Want to know whats funny? Thats is almost the exact opposite of Coop's approach, he has even had guys take MPH off their pitches for more control and bite. He generally wants the pitcher to have a free and repeatable motion, which i think he will be working on with Cabrera.
  3. This is what I bought for my place today to replace my old regular deadbolt. Apparently this thing is bullet and break in proof.
  4. QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 05:27 PM) My bedroom set has a couple drawers and areas that are not obvious. Basically pieces of trim hide shelves and such that lift or slide out. I saw them a several styles when I bought this quite a while ago. One compartment I drilled a couple holes in and modified it so you have to do a couple things and then it will slide open. Nothing too fancy, just enough. Visit a decent furniture store, they should have them. I like the idea for sure. I'm not very handy however.

QUOTE (The Gooch @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 04:49 PM) Ive tried to download torrents before and it never really works out for me lol. I get the files downloaded and it always goes downhill from there. They seem to be a lot more complicated than good ole Napster or Limewire. Oh they are harder for sure. I would say if you want to invest in the actual DVD's and equipment, it will pay off for you in spades anyway with the changes you make to yourself.

QUOTE (The Gooch @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 04:12 PM) After hearing about all of the great results I'd like to start this program by next week. Are the dvds basically the same price anywhere, or is there a place that I can get them a little bit cheaper? I'm going to start scoping Amazon for the pullup bar and bands today. Be weary of knockoff discs on the internet as well.
  7. QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 04:15 PM) Monitored security system. Now that the kids are older and not there all the time, I can get to a gun fairly quickly. My bedroom set has a couple hidden compartments which would take a burgler more than a few seconds to locate. One I modified to where it will not open without something else happening. So I feel reasonable safe that a burgler would not use my own gun on me. It also is an extra step that I would have to be awake enough to get to the gun and possible not accidentally shoot someone. And those that remember my position during some of the earlier gun debates, I am still against having a loaded gun in a house with children. I decided the risk of a break in was less than the risk of the kids screwing aorund and hurting themselves or someone else. I'd be interested to hear more about those secret compartments. I am not a huge gun advocate, but if some s*** goes down in this area some day, I want the ability to defend myself.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 04:01 PM) What kind of dog, Soxy? My parents have a security system called Watson/Eirnan/Rory/Cian, better known as an English Mastiff and 3 Irish Wolfhounds. They tend to work very well. Right I have a dog as well. But I heard stories of intruders poisoning dogs. Also my concern is when im on vacay or traveling because I put my dog in the kennel.

  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 02:02 PM) I am really bad with this...even after I lived in a condo in the City that was broken into back in 06'. I live in a condo building like you, Rock, and I just have a regular deadbolt. I live in a building that is not particularly easily accessible by car or on foot. You can find entrance on foot, but you have to get past a doorman as well as have a keycard or fob to get through the door. If you come in via a car, you have to get past an entry booth, and then get up an elevator which does not work without a keycard/fob. There are also 207 security cameras concealed within the building that are constantly monitored. I feel very safe here, but at the same time, I would not be shocked if a resident of the building found a way to cause some trouble. That was the problem in my building previously, one of the residents helped his friend break into multiple units. We have also had a little bit of crime lately where an experienced locksmith was picking locks and then breaking in without anyone knowing it.

    Home Security

I wanted to start this topic because i feel it is relevant to all of us regardless of whether you own a home, rent it, or live with someone else. The question is, how far have you gone to secure your home? Personally, as you know I live in Downtown Chicago. Even though I live in a secure condo building, there have still been break-ins and I get very nervous about the security of my home. Even with a dog, there are ways to get into my unit. Currently I have a regular old deadbolt and handle with a small plate blocking crowbar entry into my condo ( as this has been a way of entry in our building before). I also have a security system that I dont usually set because its really a nuisance. Because of recent crime waves in Chicago, I just invested in a Sunnect digital deadbolt which apparently is break-in proof. I hope it gives me a little more piece of mind. Of course I have some concealed weapons in the house in case someone wants a go at it while I am home.
  17. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 01:41 PM) Men do dumb stuff. Women do crazy stuff. JMO Spot on
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 06:29 AM) I always say all women are crazy. You just need to know what level of crazy you can put up with. My wife even agrees. Shack, even though I am late to the conversation I think you handled it correctly. You pushed a little initially when texting and calling, but you let her come to you and talk to you about it. You just happened to pick a wrong day for dinner and a movie. Women are very influenced by the array of hormones that change levels constantly through their system over the course of a month. They are all usually some degree of crazy. But so are men. We like to get into fights to see who is toughest and watch sports with ridiculous intensity.
  19. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 01:17 PM) Soldier Field is a joke. Every time I a new stadium come up it makes me sick, knowing the Bears could have had something like that but have a spaceship. I know I'm in the minority here, but I want a dome. I would love to see a Super Bowl come to Chicago, as well as Final Fours/NCAA Regionals. Not to mention a Big Ten football championship assuming they expand. Thats if you really care about the appearance of the outside of a stadium. The inside of soldier field is easily one of the best venues to watch a football game. Great views from everywhere.
  20. QUOTE (southsidepride15 @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 12:23 PM) You guys have no clue what this offense is capable of. Are we going to rip through the league?? No. Do we still play in a hitter friendly park against a division that is sub par? Yes. These guys are major league baseball players....they will figure out a way to produce without the almighty A-Gon. Have some frickin faith!! They've been trying to get AGON for over a season now, including this offseason. I wouldnt be surprised to see us make a huge play for him during this season.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 11:53 AM) that was an awesomely polite argument. P90X's are like family, we dont REALLY fight each other, we fight weakness together!!!
  22. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 09:09 AM) Hey, Chicago wont pay for it. Plus the Bears and the Park District already have a strained relationship. For $400 million the Bears could get a really nice "plain" stadium in the suburbs. No need to get flashy like the $1 billion for the Cowboys. University of Phoenix Stadium cost $455 million and they got a roof! We payed $600 million and got a spaceship. 0.0 chance they build a Bears stadium in the Burbs. The lakefront downtown next to the stadium is incredible and is played up on TV everytime they play.
  23. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 04:03 PM) I had forgotten that Dempster and Kevin Millar are best friends. They should be one of the more annoying pairings in Cubs history. Dempster has to be one of the most annoying nerds I've seen on the Cubs. From his pointless glove flipping to his Word Series Guarantee, the Cubs brass should gag the guy.
  24. FWIW, Teahen's twitter/blog is a hilarious read.
