QUOTE (WSoxMatt @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 02:38 PM) So as none of you know, on January 3rd, 2010, my house burned down and my wife, kids and I lost 99% of our stuff...Included was at least 12 old felt pennants dating from the 2000's back to the 40's, old time pictures dating back to the Opening of OLD Comiskey Park, my 1959 World Series Program, my 2005 World Series Program, my 2005 World Series ticket stub, 2003 All-Star game tickets, 1983 All Star game Program, just TONS of white Sox stuff in general, signed balls by Thomas, Thome, bobble heads, signed Harold Baines photo, countless pics of Old Comiskey, it sucked...but I realized that it was just stuff, while I thought that stuff was the most important stuff in the world, it didnt matter to me...My kids toys, my wife's clothes, all of that was a bigger deal to lose to me... A friend of mine wrote a letter to the White Sox Organization saying that he was a Cub fan but was devastated for me and my losses, and apparently he said anything that can help rebuild my collection would be appreciated...He told me he wrote this but I didnt expect anything, Im sure the White Sox hear stories like this 10x a day and cant help everyone out that says they had a bunch of stuff... But I received a package the other day from the Chicago White Sox, a pretty beat up box, but none the less, from the White Sox...I was very intrigued...Inside was a letter from Christine O'Reilly, Senior Director of Community Relations, explaining how she received this letter from my friend..She wrote" I have enclosed a few White Sox gifts in hopes that this will inspire you to start your collection again. I hope that these bring you some comfort and joy during this difficult time." So inside the package were the following: -Jermaine Dye and Paul Konerko figurine of their 300th HRs that looks like was a gift to the season ticket holders -Signed Ozzie Guillen Sox Hat -Autographed AJ Pierzynski baseball with 8 x 10 photo -Autographed Matt Thornton baseball with 8 x 10 photo -Blown up SI cover of my avatar, Mark Buehrle's SI cover after the perfect game Now I know alot of you are probably thinking, yea big deal, I have more impressive things than those...but what amazes me is the fact that the organization took time to read my buddy's letter, gather up things for my family and I, and try to feed our passion (White Sox Baseball) during the most difficult times in our lives... I share my story to confirm what we already know, the Chicago White Sox are a Top Notch organization who really do care for their fans, and I cant thank them enough for this gesture on their behalf!! thats awesome. i would write a letter to christine telling her thank you and how much you appreciate.

i remember they said something about silva changing something, pitching from the other side of the rubber, something like that. hes gien up only one run in his last 12ip or something. (putting that its st aside) can something like that make that much of a difference? if so, i dont see why they didnt do that in seattle..?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 24, 2010 -> 08:16 PM) One of his outs about smashed the kneecap of the pitcher. i saw that, looked like it was headed to cf for a hit. it would be huge if he could start getting it back together here because even though its st, i was starting to get worried because he looked lost

its so stupid how he talks all this crap about ozzie just because he has something against him(personal), u shouldnt write stupid things because of it, you need to seperate that because your supposed to be a professional writer. lol this is the same guy that wanted ozzie as manager and praised them for the w.s. and now he says ozzie is a disgrace and that the w.s. was a fluke. meaning i wouldnt mind if he says it how it is and if its bad but its that he hates the sox and wont say not one good thing. just say it how it is, idiot.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 22, 2010 -> 04:32 PM) From what I saw in the 5-6 spring games I have seen, he seems to be swinging for the fences very hard. Not sure if he is just working on his bat flip or what, but yeah, he has been swinging out of his arm sockets. shouldnt it be a concern? because correct me if im wrong, but wasnt quentin healthy the first half? i remember him playing a while and with a really low average and then he got the heal issue ? -
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 20, 2010 -> 07:28 PM) I don't think it has a single thing to do with coddling, they'll keep him in the minors until June when it'll be impossible to earn a year of service (earning them an extra year of control) and he won't be Super 2 eligible down the road. It's a business decision through and through. yea, this is completely a money issue. i had read on mlbrumors that some writer wrote its going to save them between 16-18mil potentially if they keep him off the roster till late may

since its st and doesnt matter, im so happy lillibridge isnt having a BA st because he sucks and i dont care if he hit .500 in spring, he sucks and always will suck and i dont want him on this team. good thing he has been awful

QUOTE (kev211 @ Mar 20, 2010 -> 02:27 PM) What exactly were the things he said on twitter that caused this? one was when he said the sox should resign aj and the other was what he said about cora. it was those two things and thats what the sox dont want, talking sox business

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Mar 20, 2010 -> 02:02 PM) Who cares why do the White Sox have to support OG and KW kids anyway good riddance! lets kill the thread already lol

QUOTE (jamesdiego @ Mar 20, 2010 -> 12:39 PM) "I like face to face conversation or man to man way better than behind your back." per OneyRoberto's twitter Why doesn't he give himself that advice. Unless he thinks talkin trash by twitter is manly. I like what one dude sent him on twitter: "you don't even know how lucky you have it, try spending a day working in real life then see if u would still act like ur 12" per Jamie_Gums twitter And he responds with some more helpfull advice that he should be directed towards himself: "Why don't u cry about it" per OneyRoberto twitter This all falls on Ozzie for raising a spoiled brat like that. yup, for condoning it all. theyre monsters that ozzie has created

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 20, 2010 -> 09:55 AM) He's 35. You kind of wonder if surgery is even worth it for him if he won't be the same. I'm thinking surgery is a last resort for him. i just dont understand how u could even pitch through something like that. i doubt he will be able to. he had to stop because it was hurting and i dont think that by resting it a little , itll be all fine and he'll be able to pitch the whole year and be effective. i think hes done (well as far as this year goes)

is gonzalez playing today?

i was reading on mlbrumors that the twins are going to have nathan throw and then see if he will be able to pitch through the torn ligament. cant that be bad for nathan , or be bad for him in the future?

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 20, 2010 -> 08:14 AM) Of the three kids, doesn't it break down like this: Ozzie Jr. : Not an idiot, does translation and Spanish broadcasts. Oney : TWITTER! Ozney: Actually a good propsect(?) he has an awful, awful radio voice. have you ever heard him? yuck. he always sounds like he has a sore throat. if ozzie wasnt a coach or manager in mlb, they would be nothing
-
i love ozzie, but my god, the guillens think they are the white sox or something. that the sox will suck forever without them. ozzie is defending him and thats why oney is the way he is, spoiled as hell. lets get the season started and forget all this crap, hope this isnt a continuing spring training trend lol i know its boring but still

QUOTE (hi8is @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 05:36 PM) whats the big fuss all about? i dont see it / get it me either..."When I grow up I want my kids to like me and love me not hate me and bad mouth me all over the place " and so on. and he put that if jones isnt in the lineup, theres no offense. they need him to get rid of his twitter, not ozzie, who gives a sh** about him a anyways they just had it as breaking news on CTL, its going to be a story

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 04:52 PM) Oney Guillen left the Sox organization today, and in the process is burning bridges and possibly f***ing things up for his dad. http://twitter.com/OneyRoberto what an idiot

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Mar 18, 2010 -> 01:35 PM) It comes down to the debate about 'clutchness'... is it a real thing? 670 the Score, despite their shortcomings, do a good job of challenging people with this. i.e. their scenario from a few weeks ago: "Would you want Joe Mauer, who has never been to a World Series, with the last at-bat in a WS Game 7? Or Craig Counsell, who has done it?" Mauer, obviously. Because if there is such a thing as a 'clutch guy'-- it doesnt even matter. Because in the clutch, every team should want its best hitter, ideally, to be at the plate. And of course many people will disagree with this. But is clutchness a thing proven to actually exist? I dont believe it has been. There have been guys who are surprisingly good in clutch situations, but there's a difference between that and saying that 'clutchness' is a trait that really exists and repeats over and over. well counsell is kind of a bad example. how about mauer over jeter ?

Andruw Jones spring training mean anything?
Melissa1334 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (DGSOXFan14 @ Mar 17, 2010 -> 07:09 PM) Since he is showing some shades of his old defense, I would love to see Jones in RF and have Quentin DH. That would also lower the chances of Quentin injuring himself. However, I think that would diminish Carlos' value and don't really want to do that at this point in his career... the sox are probly a better defensive team with jones rios and cq in the outfield no? not that its going to happen -

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 17, 2010 -> 07:01 PM) I know he had an OPS in the high .800's, 3 HR and 2 SB in the spring of '07 and another outstanding spring last year. Spring Training is fool's gold, you get your hopes up based on spring performance and you're bound to be disappointed. well i guess if theres a positive, its that hes playing good defense and running real well -
