  1. Was Benetti ever considered as part of the young championship core?
  2. But when Einhorn & Reinsdorf first bought the franchise Einhorn promised it would be a class organization!
  3. If that's really true I hope KW has a miserable retirement.
  4. A middle reliever. Great.
  5. If we had two Wilbur Woods we'd only need one other starting pitcher,LOL! He used to pitch on two days rest!
  6. If they acquire Perez and Merrifield, it better be for a package containing Moncada and Benintendi.
  7. But then they wouldn't have had the money to extend Moncada, silly.
  8. Pat Kelly was one of my favorites from that era. I remember for some reason he didn't make the opening day roster to start the 1971 season and Harry Caray would constantly report on how he was doing down in the minors and repeatedly ask rhetorically, "Where's Pat Kelly?" during the radio broadcasts until they finally brought him up.
  9. The Sox sure could use a guy like Wilbur Wood now.
  10. That '77 team played 81 games at Old Comiskey while the 2000 team played 81 at the Cell which was a launching pad in those days. In '77 no matter what the score I never felt like the Sox were out of the game . But both of those teams had a great offense, for sure. 2000 had Thomas, Ordonez, Konerko, Lee, Durham ... Mercy!
  11. Yeah, the South Side Hitmen of '77 were definitely the best hitting Sox team. That was another fun season to be a White Sox fan.
  12. I liked James Baldwin. 2000 was a fun season, despite how the playoffs turned out.
  13. They'll probably replace all the coaches with the exception of Daryl Boston who is "untouchable."
  14. I look forward to a great 2024 season with our elite third baseman, our modern day Jackie Robinson, and our 40+ HR DH as our young championship core.
  15. And so ends the era of the "young championship core" with the "multiple championships window." They never did "flip that switch."
  16. But the man could sing! I remember they let him sing the National Anthem several times.
  17. I was at a Sox game with my Dad back in those days when the announced attendance was something like 512 people. If I'm not mixing up two different games, I think it was the game that Buddy Bradford playing CF, caught a ball over his head right at the Center Field fence, extended his arm over the fence, opened his mitt and the ball fell out over the fence for a home run. I was just a kid, but I remember being so mad I told my Dad that from now on Ken Berry should be starting every game in Center Field. Even so, that team was still more fun to watch than the 2023 White Sox.
