  1. I think the off season training programs is a variable as well. The increased power type training Ala Kopech is becoming the norm and I don't think the subsequent decreased flexibility is being addressed. Baseball is one sports that has very quick full range motions that add a unique stress to tissues. As with anything player unique body types and genetics allow some to tolerate better than others. However overall I think it could be an issue.
  2. I think it was going over the tarp roll for a foul ball.
  3. Does it matter? People seem down on Jimenez because he is always hurt. However this doesn't seem to apply to Rodon. We will take what we get from Rodon but not Jimenez.
  4. And how is deGrom pitching this year?
  5. All of this is true. There are too many variables to pin the injury on it. Personally I think it was just the lunge on the bad throw from grandal.
  6. They just didn't want to blame grandal on the bad throw to the mound. You could see the grimace lunging for the bad throw.
  7. Could be. I would think he has enough on his plate just working with the pitchers. What happens after the ball is hit would be the purview of the others.
  8. This is good. Keep the pitchers stress lower until the end of the month.
  9. I wouldn't think the pitching coach would be involved in that. That's more the analytics and infield coach's job. They would know if the pitcher throws inside to the hitter his % of pulling it is x so move the infielder. The pitching coach just works on how to pitch to the given hitter.
  10. This seems so bizarre. I still can't fathom the hamstring tendon repair that would take only 6-8 weeks from which to recuperate. It must just be a partial teat and they are going in and cleaning it up. It's not technically the knee but the hamstrings cross behind the knee to attach to either the tibia or fibula depending on if uts the medial or lateral hamstrings. They do remove part of the semitendonosis to use as a graft fir certain ACL reconstructions. Maybe it's like that and they are just using it to augment the tendon.
  11. The hamstrings crosses behind the knee to attach to either the tibia or fibula.
  12. Distinct possibility. Back issues can cut short the follow through and tend to make the ball stay up.
  13. You can make the same case for Robert. He's hurt himself twice running to first.
  14. The fielders don't have an impact against a batted ball? What you're saying is true. However I just look at it as the team must depend more on non-star players than they do in other sports.
  15. I've always disagreed with this take. Baseball is the only game where the coach can't choose the player in an important situation In football when it's at the end of the game and they need a touchdown, they pick the WR or RB for the game winning play. In basketball, get the ball to the best shooter for the last second shot. In baseball, with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth down one run who does the manager pick to hit.....whoevers turn it us in the lineup. Its the only sport where the team needs to rely on the non-star players in important situations.
  16. Madrigal tore the attachment off the ischial tuberosity. This is why surgery was indicated to reattach it to the bone.
  17. If he still feels something probably not close. I'm sure they'll be conservative and wait until he's pain-free both during activity and to palpation.
  18. Depends on the surgery. A SLAP won't change much. A rotator cuff issue will.
  19. Surgery is odd and not done very often. If its a case like Madrigal where is comes off the bone, its done. Makes a big difference if it's at one of the attachment or in the midsubstance of the muscle.
  20. Sorry didn't see that report. It would be a grade 3 then. Did they say if it was high or low?
  21. Injuries heal stronger and more effectively with a graded amount of stress. If he only feels it a little bit he should be doing some activities.
  22. Probably more grade 2 unless they start saying surgery is possible.
  23. Sorry, out of town. From all I've read its looking like a 6-8 week type injury.
