Offseason Part 2 - Lets the Rumors & Action Begin
So should the Sox spend big for a RF?

I do agree they need better defense. Hence the reason they needed a defensive 2B and a RF besides the 3 headed monster.

Leaving no stone unturned. How very positive of you.

There is no way Vaughn is going to the MiLB.

I actually think the team is going to be pretty good.

You may want to wait until the season starts before passing judgrment.

Better for us season ticket holders. Seriously, though the 12.00 tickets on Sundays make it very affordable.

The new White Sox bullpen is a MAJOR upgrade
Since they went FA for 2B , you would think they are saving their trade chips for one of the others.

White Sox Sign RP Joe Kelly (2yrs with a club option; $17m)
85% return to prior level of function. So most do.

Codi Heuer Tommy John surgery
85% of the time they get back to prior level of function

The Sox pitching got lit up.

That's my point. All stats are useful but to rely on a single one in any profession will never tell the entire story.

That is the inherent flaw with WAR of any kind. It's a counting stat which doesn't take into consideration the impact those innings have on a game.

I don't give midterms just for that reason. But if you read my answer, I did answer it.

As I said, I prefer to wait until I have all of the information and see how the roster fits together. Why make a judgment when you don't have all the information? If they stand pat bad. If they trade for Manea, good. If they sign Conforto and trade for Manea even better. However it's all hypothetical so there is no way to judge until they are done.

Here's another honest question. Is this the roster with which they will start the season?

I wonder if they think they can get more for him at the deadline.

If that's the most negative you seen you must be very new to the board. I've always liked TLR. I don't like the comments by Katz where he was go8ng to treat his pitchers like it was any year last year. His starters wore down at the end of the year. He wasn't smart by pushing them early. That's more Katz than TLR.

Never a mistake to commit resources to pitching. Unless it's for commitments over 4 years.

If LaRussa and Katz need to change their philosophy to the team. I like the fact that they let their starters go longer but it should have been done later in the year instead of early. The same should apply this year with the shortened spring training. I didn't like Katz last year. He has a chance to redeem himself.

Kopech has had fewer injuries and fewer surgeries and has more control and is cheaper. He was the obvious choice to keep. If they traded him they could have kept Ridin. However I wouldn't have for previously stated reasons. If the team is different, they should LaRussa and Katz should mange them differently.as I stated previously I'm not a fan for the way Katz handled the pitching last year so you could be right here. If the 2B is subpar defensively I don't like it. They can have one pitcher who won't pitch the full season. For all the reasons stated earlier, Kopech was the better choice. As far as this season goes I prefer to wait until we have all of the information as in the full roster before making judgements. Making judgements based on partial information is rarely a good thing.
