  1. Thats what all in means. Use everything now. They could have traded many prospects to acquire Snell who is under a reasonable contract. But they didn't because the dont want to sacrifice the future.
  2. I guess our definition of all in is different.
  3. If they were all in why didnt they traded for Snell or Darvish? They arent sacrificing the future to win this year. That's what all in implies. Pushing all the chips in to win right now regardless of the future.
  4. He is saying that if they are all in than giving Collins a shot doesnt make sense. My point is that the Sox are not all in for this season. They are looking at prolonged success so looking at it from an all in perspective is wrong. Personally I would give Collins a shot as backup and use the resources elsewhere.
  5. On this we agree. Nothing will change until they improve at tackle. A WR wont make a difference if they QB is running for his life all the time.
  6. This is the point most miss. They are not "all in" for this year. If so, they would be trading away more prospects. They want to have prolonged shots at the playoffs with the team and prospects they have. In MLB as long as you make the playoffs you have a chance.
  7. His was worse than most. He didnt even use the spin that many use now. He just abruptly stopped straight up. I said it when they drafted him. There is zero way to dissipate the forces of the pitch in his motion which can lead to both.
  8. UCL reconstructions pretty much take care of themselves. Its more the muscle, tendon and capsule injuries that are more worrisome. Its the extent of the injury and the healing that makes the difference.
  9. Pitchers with an injury history are more likely to sustain another injury though.
  10. I agree there are many ways it can be done. It could be in the MLB pen. It could be in the minors starting with piggy backs or very limited innings. It could be starting in the minors then reliever in the MLB at the end. It is a tough situation because of his lack of starting in college and the minimal season in his draft year. His situation is very different than Sale or most other pitchers in this regard.
  11. Rodon was never going to have good control or health with that dumbest follow through he had. They didn't rush him as he could get away with the control issues in the minors but needed to learn at the MLB level.
  12. I don't think its bad for the first year as he has thrown so few innings that he will be on a low innings count.
  13. Could be. I haven't followed it lately but at the beginning he insisted that was one of the criteria for signing.
  14. AJ was an ass but it was just personality not a change in the way others played the game. If Bauer still insists on pitching every 4th day, it will fundamentally change the way the entire pitching staff prepares and plays. So more than his personality, including be the way he wants to play the game that could hurt his team.
  15. This is a key point. With Boras controlling the executive board of the players union there will most likely be some type odmf work stoppage. With the decreased revenue from last year, both the union and the owners would be wise to stockpile money.
  16. Freddy is married to Ozzie close family friend who they took care of. They referred to her as a niece but she really wasnt blood related.
  17. The problem with the stress 9f the pen is the up and down and maybe not going into the game and then warming up again before you pitch. Starting tends to be less stress because of the regular work and rest. However in his case he needs to build up the innings before he starts regularly. Its a conundrum.
  18. Its definitely a valid perspective. He has never had the workload so there is no guarantee he can retain his stuff or health as a starter.
  19. Both of those were full time starters in college. Their arms could do it. Crochet has never had that workload. That makes it much more difficult from a purely physical perspective.
  20. Just got our rounds of vaccines. Got mine today eventhough I'm prn.
  21. If You are looking at individual data point then yes its every team. And you'll notice that there are many that are far from the line which is essentially the average. So the scatter-plot which this is shows that the trend is that the more you spend the better chance you have to win. However with the scattered data plots it also shows that many teams with lower payrolls also win. So as stated before spending more gives you a better chance to win but it is not fundamental to winning. If you want to show its fundamental to winning, run the correlation numbers then run a regression analysis to show the predictive value of payroll and winning.
