2021 Spring Training Cuts Thread
I would say more like Ruiz and whoever else is at the bottom of the list. Unless you are purposely saying they should try to lose. The other possibility is to have him extend his season into the Fall to get the innings.

No. Kopech should throw more innings than Hendricks. There is a specific plan for Kopech to throw more innings than a typical reliever. His plan has a different purpose. Of course some of it depends on how often he throws. Relievers throw more and put more stress on their arms than the innings indicate. The more they warmup and sit down increases the actual usage. I'm sure they will look at those pitches for Kopech as well.

If thus is the case you are correct. They both need to get near 80, then continue less stressful innings in the Fall

White Sox are still a World Series Contender
Who wouldn't? Everyone wants them to win more. Doesn't mean you can't enjoy the games. Only enjoying wins or winning seasons shouldn't be the overall goal if you are a fan of the game as opposed to a fan of winning. Doesn't mean you don't want them to win.

It's not optimism. It's not saying they are going to be good regardless of the team. It's not pessimism and only looking for the problems of the team. It's just enjoying the game. Of course every fan wants to see wins. It doesn't mean you can't enjoy the game for the game.

ELOY HURT! (3/25 Update: Torn Pectoral Tendon, Out 5-6 months))
This makes more sense. 3 months was too aggressive.

I have haven't I? I've been a fan since the mid-70's.

I would think so. It's a very aggressive timeline having to reattach a muscle. It's always possible that there was so much edema in the area that they didn't get good imaging and now that it has gone down they got better pictures.

Not really. Healing is healing. He will be immobilized for 4-8 for healing. The muscle will atrophy and get really weak in that time. Strength only comes back so fast (unless it's chemically enhanced). So the 3 months is probably minimal just to get the strength back. Unless the diagnosis significantly changed, it a really aggressive time frame. Edit: After thinking about it,it's possible that there was too much edema in the area and they couldn't get good imaging and now that it's gone done they got better pictures.

White Sox are still a World Series Contender
Not knowledge of this situation but knowledge of similar injuries in athletes I've worked with. 3 months is a good time line to return to activities for his left arm but pretty aggressive for returning to the MLB anywhere near his previous level of performance. Anything is possible but this seems too aggressive for a timeline.

I wouldn't count on it.

That would be a good time frame for getting back to activities but I think its pretty aggressive for a return to the MLB.

White Sox are still a World Series Contender
To each his own. I would argue that someone who can't enjoy the game played by minor leaguers who have no chance to make it or high school players aren't fans of the game. I appreciate the best but realize that isn't everyone. When I was employed by pro teams or international amateurs, I had a true stake in it. More money, travel experiences. But as a fan only its the enjoyment of the game. Of course I want them to win more and want to see extended winning seasons. But I will always be a season ticket holder to enjoy the game.

White Sox are still a World Series Contender
This goes back to the fundamental reason of why people are fans. Are you a fan of baseball, the White Sox or winning. Can you enjoy a game without your team winning?

It's even better to realize it's just entertainment and doesn't truly change your life either way. Just enjoy the games and the season. Its baseball, the most enjoyable and fun game around.

ELOY HURT! (3/25 Update: Torn Pectoral Tendon, Out 5-6 months))
Ok. so it depends on the company you want to use. Baseball reference said 2.8. So take the average of all of it even if he has the great improvement on the high end of the prediction and it's 3.5-4. Hopefully he returns for a month and mitigates it even more. We can see how the 3.5-4 games makes a difference but I wouldn't say they are going to lose several games by these stats

ELOY HURT! (3/25 Update: Torn Pectoral Tendon, Out 5-6 months))
It shouldn't cost the Sox several games. His career WAR is 2.8. So even if he would have been improved this year his WAR would be around 2. So if they find a replacement level player, which by definition should be easy, they won't lose too many games.

ELOY HURT! (3/25 Update: Torn Pectoral Tendon, Out 5-6 months))
None of that had to do with an injury to his shoulder. In fact if he had more weight and couldn't jump high enough to get his entire shoulder over the wall he would have been better off.

ELOY HURT! (3/25 Update: Torn Pectoral Tendon, Out 5-6 months))
He won't for 8-12 weeks. After that he will need to work on it.

ELOY HURT! (3/25 Update: Torn Pectoral Tendon, Out 5-6 months))
I would disagree to an extent. The lower extremities and trunk are major part of hitting and he'll continue to work on those. The left pec is not really involved in hitting for a right handed hitter because that shoulder really does extension. So while he won't be perfect, he has a chance to be a major contributer by September.

Maybe Vaughn will listen. "Catch what comes right at you or to your right. If it not one of those, get out of Luis' way."
