  1. Agreed. They have carefully acquired players to give themselves a number of chances at the playoffs. That will be much more effective than trading everything for a single shot. Baseball is just too random over the course of the season. The best team on paper doesn't always win.
  2. Vaughn needs the obligatory time to extend his time before FA. He really needs to show his progress in the upper minors before he comes to the show.
  3. The surgery itself was fairly straight forward. It was a true avulsion where the tendon came off the bone. The surgeon just had to find the tendon, thread it through the bicepital groove and attach it to where it came off. The how's, why's and recovery were the crazy part.
  4. Not until March, when my season ticket money is due. Edit: Scratch that, they have my money from last year. Not until August!
  5. Agreed but it all depends on the price, more length than dollars.
  6. Yep. Maybe the isolated rehab put him ahead of schedule. On a side note part of the reason his status is up in the air was that this is a rare injury. I've never seen an isolated teres major tear and I've been doing this for over 30 years. There are new injuries popping up recently and it's interesting. The Peavy lat avulsion was something I hadn't seen in pitchers, only in javelin and football QBs.
  7. All good signs that he will be ready without much limitations for this year.
  8. Its very different. The lat is the primary internal rotator of the shoulder thus provides most of the velocity. The teres major is a much smaller muscle and provides minimal power but more stabilization. It should have little impact on his throwing but much of what the muscle really does is unknown other than in support of the lat.
  9. Then it would depend on where he is for training and how far below his previous velocity it was. If this is his beginning of spring training then the velocity is expected to be lower than his max. They will probably be more concerned with command and quality of breaking pitches knowing he will build strength towards the season.
  10. Was that same as before the injury?
  11. It's an odd injury as it purpose is to help the latissimus does. I refer to it as the "little lat". It really does do much on its own. The prognosis for a pitcher is pretty good. He really should have much functional issues only strength. It will be interesting to see his velocity. That will be the determining factor.
  12. I'm pretty sure everyone does. You keep track so you know which vaccine and when your second dose is due.
  13. It would suck to see Colome with the Twins and the Sox hitters trying to face him.
  14. Let's just hope it doesn't involve the phrase "foreign substance"
  15. Agreed as long as the trade includes only one of the minor league starters, it's a good deal.
  16. Agreed with Bauer. Unless he accepts a 3 year deal he won't be with the Sox.
  17. To be fair Hendriks has only been thus good the last 2 years. Colome has a much better career and track record. The Sox need the Hendriks of the last 2 years and there is no reason to think he won't be.
  18. They just signed a reliever for the highest AAV and people still take shots.
  19. No. I wouldn't use the prospects they need to sustain a competitive window.
  20. Similar to Lance Lynn who they already acquired.
  21. I can already see the posts from this board a couple years after the WS title. "how could they mismanage the team so badly that they only got one title." "This FO sucks to only get one title out of this group" etc.
  22. That CB must be a real ass.. that is the second time with the Bears and Thomas was suspended during the season for an altercation with him during practice.
