  1. I used to do it at times in minor league practices when I was the AT. I ducked a lot.
  2. Absolutely nothing wrong with pitching around an individual if its a critical situation.
  3. Good point but I'm sure after the pasting the Sox gave them earlier they won't be just mailing the games in. Hopefully the seeding point isn't the same and can't be said for the Twins and Cleveland.
  4. No doubt. That is a lot of good teams right at the end.
  5. A team with as many young players as they have is susceptible to this.
  6. Baseball just isn't a sport where a star can take over a game for too many of them. You can't put them in position to win the game because it's luck if their spot comes up in the batting order at critical times. All the other sports you can design the play to get them the ball/puck to win the game. This is one of the primary reasons baseball is so random and so fun.
  7. Dang it. Should have kept reading before I posted it. Your point, sir.
  8. You forgot the fourth, Josh Hamilton that anchored them in the past yet they keep doing it. I heard the other day that they are the only team with 5 or more 100 million plus contracts in the last decade and they had 6.
  9. Agreed. with the way Moncada seems to be dragging he would be the best backup there.
  10. This is seems likely. However, what would the cost be? They shouldn't take away from this emerging core of players to do it.
  11. Agreed that would be very good.
  12. This was all included in the dreaded "best shape of his life" article.
  13. Agreed. I would never include 3 young pitchers in any deal.
  14. It's usually a combination of the 3. I would like to believe that the medical staff has the final say but unfortunately, that isn't always the case. This is why I said that no one thinks his issues are that severe otherwise that decision would have been made.
  15. I have no idea as i'm not in the clubhouse. However, mentally feeling drained because of nagging issues can slow everything down. also, i don't think Renteria is saying it's all mental. He's saying he does have lingering physical issues but so does everyone. So he needs to play through them and not let the little soreness effect his play. At least that's my interpretation of the comments. If he can't he needs to go on the IL but no one thinks his issues are that severe.
  16. I think that is what Renteria is trying to say. He isn't injured and needs to not let little things effect his play.
  17. Cardiovascular issues are in the younger population mostly related to myocarditis which hopefully they checked for before they allowed him back to play. This can also increase if he had predisposing factors like hyperlipidemia. I was thinking more like the fatigue factor. Chronic fatigue seems to be a lasting effect on many of the patients even those that were asymptomatic in the beginning.
  18. A very nice way way of saying, suck it up, everyone has issues playing everyday. There's a difference between soreness, pain, hurt and injured. Everyone is sore and hurt during the daily grind of baseball. An unknown variable variable here though is the long term effects of his COVID infection. However he seems to have had these issues before.
  19. Part of it is the quality of the hitters. Go back and look at college highlights. His stuff moves so much that the college hitters swung at pitches way out of the zone. The problem is his pitches still do that but ashe moved up the levels the hitters got better and just dont swing at the pitches. He went to driveline and they straightened him out some but when he did that his stuff was very hittable. He never found that middle ground of the pitches moving but not enough to fly way out of the zone.
  20. Looks legs from his movements.
  21. Wow. That's pretty good. That's earlier than I thought.
  22. I think the answer is that it was. The Cubs needed an elite reliever. Chapman was the best on the market. Thus it was the necessary move. A move for a lesser reliever wouldn't have been the right one.
