  1. You need to extend pitchers to build endurance for later. Why not do it with a 9 run lead. There was no reason not to extend his pitch count.
  2. they will pull him before 120, i bet.
  3. Why? They have a 9 run lead. Let him get to about 110 pitches then take him out. Keep building the endurance while the runs don't matter.
  4. George Carlin had made an appearance
  5. Look at the players that are out as well though. The Sox have essentially stared their number 1,2 4,6,7 most of the year including 2 bullpen days. Now thats not horrible as teams always have injuries but I think it's safe to say that this staff is not the one we will see next year. In the playoffs this depth won't matter as they will only need 1,2,4,5 for starters.
  6. What's to like about a guy who hasn't given up a run in 12 innings to start his career? going out on a limb there.
  7. You're looking at it backwards. The owners barely break even in the regular season and really make their money in the post season because they don't pay player salaries during the post season. So the owners may lose a little in the regular season. However, if they expand the number of teams in the playoffs and add another round in the playoffs the owners will make more.
  8. I wouldn't say nothing but it would take multiple teams with double digit players out at once.
  9. Let's hope it's less of this and more deception from Dunning. But you're probably right.
  10. No kidding had to rush the students through a practical exam to get to the game on time. The 30 minute time limits gradually made their way to 25.
  11. Ooops. My apologies, I retract said comment.
  12. Or worse to have a big outbreak and it never actually gets played.
  13. Are you saying there are 8 AL teams with no holes in their lineup? Mazara is really the only one the Sox have
  14. Would you count Detweiler and Marshall as "coop fixed em" guys?
  15. A few weeks ago Dunning could have probably only gone an inning or two. They specifically said at the time they didn't want to bring Dunning up to only pitch an inning or two. They wanted to get him ready for an outing where it could nearly resemble a real start.
  16. It is good article. One topic you missed though is one way to tell he has really changed his philosophy to be more data driven. He no longer preaches the take something off the fastball to allow more movement. He is using the spin rate data and having them throw the 4 seam with more spin at the top of the zone and have less movement. This is a pretty drastic change.
  17. Cooper, the pitching coach usually does.
  18. Sure. he was what 70 today? He will be at 90 in two more starts provided he doesn't need to be pulled early in one.
  19. What a bunch of idiot coaches in Detroit. The have to be the worst staff to keep a pitcher in when he was getting tired.
  20. Mize looking tired. Everything up and getting under the ball.
  21. agreed. This is better for the future starts of Dunning and he looks like a guy that can be really important later in the season.
  22. Here's the dilemma though. How do you increase his stamina and pitch count without pushing him into fatigue. If they continue to take him out when he starts to get tired, they'll never increase the endurance.
