  1. Are players under long term contracts who opt out still under control of the teams for the number of years of the contract or is another added? For example if a players signed a contract for 5 years but opted out (not a high risk) are they under contract for 5 years or 6? I would assume its 6 as they are not getting service time but I'm not sure. I know this doesn't apply to Kopech but I haven't seen an answer.
  2. True but unfortunately when even one part of the couple leads a public life let alone both, it's going to happen.
  3. Unless you've been playing awhile and made your money, it's hard to go almost 2 years with no income.
  4. How many players can they have active for a double header now?
  5. Interesting injury. Shoulder issue but not the rotator cuff. This goes along the line of the lat tears we have been seeing as this muscle is referred to as the "little lat."
  6. Crap. I had nothing to do this evening. I was looking forward to just sitting and watching the game.
  7. It's close between Cooper, KW and Renteria. It's been awhile since if heard a positive comment about any of them.
  8. The could keep up with their conditioning and then be ready to throw once camp started. They didn't get as much time in camp as usual but they also aren't expecting as many pitches either. These first couple of starts are like the last couple in a normal spring training in regards to workload.
  9. Better that he get some work in this year against MLB hitters and continue his development than sit around doing nothing.
  10. Probably. However its on them if they didn't. They knew a season was coming and could have done it. Again though, UCL injuries aren't normally caused by something like this. This type of issue will be shoulder related.
  11. Lowering the arm angle is less stress on the shoulder but more stressful on the elbow biomechanically regardless on conditioning soIt's possible. However, in general he falls into the throws too hard too often category as well.
  12. Doesn't sound like he was stretched out enough to be a true starter. He could be an "opener" though and they could start to extend him that way
  13. Verlander has the eventual UCL of throwing too hard too often. Nothing to do with the conditioning issue.
  14. I'm not sure thats true. The ones I ask about in the neighborhood say that the virus isn't fatal in most age demographics so if they get it most likely they will be asymptomatic and a very very small chance they would die.
  15. Unfortunately, Stanford eliminated 11 sports including rowing. Although I'm not sure that is a requirement based on recent events. ?
  16. I know people make light of it but if you are truly objective it can work. My daughter was a very good high school runner. We looked at time across the nation and saw where she was competitively. She wanted to run with a large club and based on comparisons we decided it was worth the money. She ran races across the US and ran in the Junior Olympic finals. She now has a DI scholarship spread through 3 sports that pays 20,000 per year. It can be worth it if they love it and are motivated.
  17. This season is "for entertainment purposes only" for fans and make as much money as possible for the players/owners until it becomes economically unfeasible for the owners.
  18. Could be that or could be that both areas are hot spots right now. That's why the next few days and testing of their recent opponents will be key.
  19. Yep. The next few days will be telling if the Marlins spread it beyond containment.
  20. Very true. However, I think it can continue if the players truly follow the guidelines that the MLB set forth of proper mask wearing, distance in the dugout, non-playing players out of the dugout etc. It may be too late but if other teams don't have the increase, it may work. This is the balance to which I was referring. They deserve an attempt to make a living.
  21. This is the point I try to make. Far too many people are in the "if it doesn't stop it, it not worth it" mind set.
