  1. I don't think anyone would disagree. However, are either of them attainable without trading top prospects? It's all about how much of the future they are willing to sacrifice.
  2. Depends on your point of view. I think this is the primary reason for all of the UCL injuries in the past few years. However, with the success rate we have of return to sport after rehab, this has been pushed to the side.
  3. As I recall from the draft analysis, the Sox said that one of the primary reasons for the pick was the consistent, very high exit velocity. Of all of the players left after the top 10 he had a very high profile quality that the others did not. This was some of the Schwarber comparison.
  4. Cooper really doesn't do this anymore with the new emphasis on the technology. The primary fastball pitch for nearly all of the pitchers is the 4 seam up in the zone. That is the antithesis of the decreasing velocity for movement.
  5. I think depends on what they see the rest of the way from dunning. If he can consistently show the stuff he did in the one start, I don't think I would add a FA starter. That would have Giolito, Keuchal, Cease, Kopech and Dunning as the starters with Lopez as the number 6.
  6. I would agree. The ownership would need to bein place to make a decision on the strategy going forward. D o they want to use some goodwill as new owners like the Cubs to start a full rebuild. Or do they have enough pieces to add and win immediately. Personally, I would go the rebuild route to capitalize on the goodwill and save the money after spending that much on a team.
  7. So in other words you can. you just have to "designate" the player not on the 60 as the PTBNL later.
  8. Other posts have shown that he can be. There is no restrictions on trading player not on the 60 man roster. He could be the "PTBNL."
  9. It would be a more attractive offer if the universal DH is permanent.
  10. I meant as far as general perception of the job the two have done. I don't think many people would have said that Hahn was the "smart" GM and Theo was the "dumb" one in any scenario.
  11. His value will also be depressed due to the fact that he only has a few inconsistent start in the MLB and won't have pitched in a game in 2 1/2 years. I don't think they would get appropriate value for him.
  12. A month ago that statement would have been reversed for the majority of people.
  13. I believe the exact number of homeruns he will hit in his career will be 880.
  14. Very true. This would be a contract that would work. He views it as a risk due to the number that have failed going back to Britt Burns and the hip issues as well as Rich Dotson and the shoulder issues. Both occurred very early on in his ownership.
  15. Free if you are a season ticket holder.
  16. I think it had a little more to do with TA returning to the lineup. But whatever works for them to win.
  17. Not good at math but it doesn't add up.
  18. I dont think he has been an apologist for the FO.
  19. It was the other way around. they knew Giolito was starting so they started all the lefties.
  20. don't know how into it you are but there is a great deal of research on using minimalist shoes during workouts because they are much more effective in the build up the strength and control of the ankle and foot.
  21. What's inaccurate about what he said? That's not rolling over. that's telling the truth. How long were the cubs and Astros in their rebuild before winning? A true rebuild takes time.
  22. It's hard to tell. Those injuries are just so rare in people his age, let alone doing it twice. The weakest link in the lower extremity kinematic chain is the knee due to it being in the middle between one close chain element (foot) and one heavily muscular supported joint (hip). It's the joint that research has shown has a decrease risk of injury relationship with weight. This is why knee injuries are so common. The primary issue for him will be to make sure he has full range at the ankle. If he lacks any range it will transfer more force up the chain to the knee and cause issues.
  23. The dreaded "best shape of his life" story.
  24. Stone has never been known for rolling over for the FO.
