  1. Just becaisebpitchers are having a UCL reconstruction doesn't mean they aren't going to be MLB pitchers. We still have a nearly 90% rate of returning them to prior levels. If you are only looking at this year you are correct. But if you look at the totality of the career, this isn't correct.
  2. I went with B. I really like the organizational changes. Wiith the budget restrictions we know JR has they organization and development needs to be the strength. Hiring Venable and mckinvin were hires previous administration havent done. Trades have been more bad than good. Cant really judge the current team as they aren't trying to win. They are spending all the money retooling the organization which is best for them in the long run.
  3. Thats the idea.
  4. Good possibility.
  5. For the pitchersrs you could say its inevitable that that most will have UCL reconstruction as it's the way of today's game. Rhey have a number if high end young pitcher thus are susceptible. Also the Sox seem to like guys that throw with odd arm angles. These will also have a higher occurrence of injury. Then you need to look at the offseaon program and the way the pitching coaches handle the pitchers. For the hitters it seems bad luck. Benintendi, rojas and Drury had weird fractures. Slater had the Oblique which not uncommon.
  6. I apologize. Cheap shot. I knownyou really don't think that JRs karma caused the injuries. You made the comment during a long discussion. I won't bring it up again.
  7. He shouldn't if it's that long.
  8. 2030 will be about the right time if this one doesn't work.
  9. It looks like they are going with retreat vets to start the season. I bet they bring up the prospects in waves after a couple of months and clear it out.
  10. Yep it's that JR karma.
  11. I'm sure the innings were originally meant for any number of the UCL clan they now have.
  12. As someone said earlier at least it's happening in a tank year. Get them out of the way.
  13. Thus one wasn't surpirising with the dreaded flexor strain diagnosis. That is not guaranteed but not uncommon
  14. That would be fine except you want at least a couple of veterans somewhere on the team. They picked those. It could have been anyone. They signed them early so they are sunk costs. May as well keep them.
  15. To start the year, I agree. Once they have Keel, quero and Montgomery up it will be more interesting at least. I think the pitching will be better overall.
  16. I guess in a tank year may as well see if they have anything. Since it's a claim it's minimal cost to return him. Bannister and Katz must see something. It will be interesting to see what it may be.
  17. Non-sports but didn't go into the hotbed that's politics as I recall. North got phased out when the stations got bigger and they went from fans on the radio to real journalists as Bernstein would say. He still mocked north and others who didn't come through the ranks of covering teams or newspapers.
  18. Absolutely. It seems they are ready to start over with this group and are just acquiring stop gap players. They can't acquire anyone with a long term commitment because they have the group they want a couple of years away.
  19. Good point. He did show good versatility with IF and OF capabilites. Plus he's from the orioles so fuller would have a background with him and he's also an illinois guy.
  20. Agreed, always seems like he wanted to be a "real" radio host instead of a sports radio host at times.
  21. Then they go to either whomever was there, if he is still around or tobthe utility player who i think will be Baldwin. It looks like he missed about 10 days so a 15 day IL is reasonable. Thats the job of the utility player to cover.
  22. No kidding. I haven't eead all of them all but are all of them having surgery with the Sox group? Some say "surgery right be performed by....."
  23. This is a retrospective study that only looks at EMR data not the actual subjects. Ifbyou look at the actual study not just the abstract you'll see that the authors don't even look at the causation. It doesn't really add anything we haven't discussed. What is the reason for the flexor strain? It it the overuse of the muscle or did they have a UCL laxity and that caused the muscle to over work. The study is 4 years old. The study was also dine on young high school kids with a mean age of 17. Different muscle development than the MLB pitchers. Some probably had growth plates that werent closed which contributed as well. Also 8 of the subjects were female. There are more recent studies that show this. While there can be a correlation, it depends on the etiology.
  24. If it was,we will hear about the lawsuit for the surgeon. Don't think Getz would have been involved in the surgery.
