  1. Shane Smith was on the team due to being a rule 5 and the team sucking this year. May as well carry a talented 25 year old pitcher.
  2. Problem is a ligament is not a muscle where you can directly train it to withstand more forces. With heavy lifting you can thicken ligaments some but not much and it's tough to do on the inside of the elbow. The elbow has an inherent weakness as it has a valgus bend to it where the forearm is naturally lateral to the elbow. This creates a weakness when throwing as the hand drags behind the elbow and the only thing really keeping the arm together is the UCL specifically the anterior bands. We haven't been able to figure a way around that yet. For now it's a reconstructionwhich there are constantly improving surgeries.
  3. They tried to with the pitching clock. Thought it may make the pitchers decrease the max effort by not giving them as much time to recover. Did go that way.
  4. Well it was obvious because it was really all that was left. They addressed the secondary, then linebacker and offensive skill position and QB. Both lines were what is left to upgrade. That was the plan and they followed through. I would have reordered it personally but at least the did it systematically.
  5. But the pitching will be fun to watch, especially when the young catchers to come to the MLB.
  6. Exactly. They only mean something to someone like Drury trying to make a team. There are very few of those.
  7. Really 1 game us a small sample size? Enjoy a good game by young players.
  8. The Dwight or kankakee sites would be awesome for me. Somehow I don't think they want to move out here.
  9. That's what the draft is for. Guys they draft this year need to get up to speed in the NFL. Get veterans who can stop right un and play well. Draft the replacements and get them seasoned.
  10. Yeah, he was a pretty good guy. He owned a horse track I worked at during college. He would show up occasionally. Weird part was he co-owned it with Steinbrenner.
  11. They don't care about gambling connections any longer. It was a big concern back then.

    Walks

Let's see what that looks like when all of the minor league players are off the rosters. It's spring training.

    Walks

    Definitely the least taken.
  14. Applies to the blackhawks as well. Drastic difference with some of the young talent making it's way.
  15. Can the app be shared in different households?
  16. Not necessarily true. While the surgery and rehab is longer in the short term for the UCL reconstruction, bone spurs develop due to excessive stress and can show up again. Not likely but possible.
  17. Could be. The issue is why did the muscle strain happen. Was is an overuse injury just due to the muscle work. Or was it being overused due to the ligament laxity and it was trying to hold the joint together. Either way it's a muscle strain but different etiologies.
  18. Doesn't matter the actual velocity. It's if you are throwing at your max too often. One person throwing 97 maybe be throwing with less effort than someone else throwing 95.
  19. Yep. The way pitchers throw today it's not if they will have a UCL reconstruction it's when. It's a shame but that's the game today
  20. Can never have enough pitching.
  21. So you're saying they all have to be #1 starters to be considered successful?
  22. Heck, I'm older than you. You are off on many off the pitching propects. Many more than just the big 3. Of course he will need to produce at the MLB level. Buy he has at least a couple more years. This organization was awful. Expecting him to turn it around within 1-2 years is asinine.
  23. No he doesn't need to feel pressure. They are in full rebuilding mode while he brings the entire organization into the 21st century instead of the 19th. He took over an awful organization. The owner won't spend on big free agents so they need to build the organization. That was the problem with the last group. The had top end prospects who produced for a couple of years but there was no depth behind them when it fell apart. And you are way off in your prospect evaluations.
