  1. He is not the only owner dreaming of this. There will be a substantial amount of missed games in 2027.
  2. What if its that he has a great second half? Also stays healthy for the while year? That is one of the primary issues with his trade value.
  3. All depends on how much they want to keep him. It's along the lines of we could keep him he would help but a draft pick may be worth it to lose him. You're right though. The odds of his performance being exactly at that level is slim. Odds are his performance will show its inevitable or the other, keep him or buy him out.
  4. It's really spread. The Sox are going to catch the Mariners whi most thought had the best rotation in baseball with 3 out of 5 starters on the IL.
  5. Apparently, Venable thought differently. They had a long stretch of games without a break until Monday. Catchers rarely catch day games after night games anytime throughout the season.
  6. They would need to be ready to have him return. That's why I said if they had a reasonable idea that someone would offer him a contract. The 3-4 million could be worth the chance for the draft pick.
  7. Before the game i got +250 with Cincinnati at -5.5
  8. Its very commonplace for managers managers to have a "Sunday" lineup on get away days. Especially a team that recently had a 20 some game streak without a day off. Ozzie was famous for it every time. Not all do it everytime but its common.
  9. Looking at last year, the qualifying offer was about 21 million. If they are fairly certain someone would sign him for more, they would get the draft pick. If not, its not a significant amount more.
  10. I think this is right. Hopefully, he takes to the changes similar to Vargas. It was promising in the game yesterday when he had a hard double to the opposite field. He has not been doing that so far this season.
  11. Good point. That draft pick may be worth it. I don't know how that works with the option years though. If they decline the option, can they still give him a QO?
  12. Waiting for Slater, Tauchman and Lee to come off IL.
  13. I agree. I think the big question, is this version of Robert with 20 million especially with the injury history.
  14. Even with Montgomery leaving they are one of the more fun teams to watch.
  15. Exactly, its only below average not god awful.
  16. Official word is load management. As long as he gets around 80 innings, he can still be on a track to start in the future. Maybe they are seeing his arm isn't recovering well after the 3 inning appearances, yet.
  17. Trades for Meidroth and Vargas sure helped, otherwise, ewww. Still not great but better.
  18. Less employees means less resources needed. Even if they pay the current people more to cover it won't be the salary of adding another person. This is before the savings on benefits. Will the coverage be as good, no. Will it save money, yes.
  19. No reason to spend the money on a dedicated person now. The team is bad this year. The media goes where the story is and this year its the Cubs.
  20. That's just it. They counted on one group and didn't develop/acquire anyone behind them. They had a pretty good run bit when they got injured/worse there was no one behind them. To have sustained success, they need to develop/draft others. With the limited resources available from JR, they need to focus on this. This takes time. I know everyone wants to win this second and will not allow any time. That's just not realistic.
  21. While this may be true, i still think they should continue to try him as a starter until he cant. UCL reconstruction and lat injuries are not uncommon for any pitcher.
  22. With the beating that catchers take there is nothing wrong with having 2 good ones rotating between catching, DH and days off.
